Accelerated Courses Accelerated classes are an
opportunity for students to be
challenged and advance quickly
through the academic system by doing
two academic years in one school
year. These opportunities allow
students to focus on AP courses later
on and/or give different options for
students with their course load.
All prerequisites must be taken at RCS in
order to ensure that students can handle the
rigorous demands of the course and have the
skills required to be successful with the
accelerated work and be properly prepared
for the AP exam.
AP courses provide students with
the opportunity to gain university
credits by successfully achieving a 4
or 5 on the AP examination.
Students must pay a $120 fee for
each AP examination. Teachers will
give recommendations to students
on their readiness for the AP exam
based on the student’s assignments
and practice exams.
The AP courses promote
independent study and allow
students to pursue more
challenging intellectual
activities. Students will
develop higher level thinking
skills and benefit from the
research and content
enrichment.
Students may enter an Accelerated
course or AP class if they do not
meet the prerequisites listed. A
student and their parents may
request a conference with an
Advanced Program teacher and the
RCS Principal. If a student is
granted permission into an
Advanced Program course then an
Academic Probation Contract will
be created and reviewed at the end
of September to determine the
student’s eligibility.
RCS gives students the opportunity to excel as we
challenge and educate Gospel-inspired, Spirit-
filled leaders to meaningfully impact our world.
