Our High School youth group is walking through a study called Financial Peace for Teens. This is a nine-lesson money management class taught by America‟s leading financial experts: Dave Ramsey, Rachel Cruze, and Chris Hogan. The class is designed to help teens learn solid financial principles that will prepare them to handle their money wisely, save for the future, avoid debt, give generously, all while learning strong Biblical principles about their faith. Come join us for YOUTH GROUP at 12:00 in the High School Room - lunch will be provided. It is not an issue if your student cannot attend all 9 lessons! We have several ways to provide the class materials for any lessons they may miss. Questions? Comments? Answers? Call or email Rob Hazlewood: 734-928-8268 or [email protected]

We‟ll need some parents to help by hanging out with students during the weekend, so if you can do part of the day, an evening or the whole weekend, sign up! We‟ll also need some high schoolers to help run some of the events throughout the weekend. Go to fpcp.net/signups and sign up wherever you can serve!

Stewardship News

THE IMPACT FAIR

What it is: A church-wide social event designed to give church family

members a chance to learn about FPCP’s ministries and missions…and

find ways to engage in ministry using their unique talents and gifts. The

fair follows a church-wide journey of discovering and identifying our God-given gifts and is designed to help people

discover opportunities to share their gifts and participate in ministry.

When: Sunday, November 17, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Where: Fellowship Hall

How it works: Church missions and ministries will reserve table space for the event, where they will provide

information about their activities and opportunities to serve.

Who is eligible to reserve table space, and how many groups can participate? We invite all church-affiliated

groups to consider participating with a display. We will have space for 28 missions/ministries.

How much table space does each group get for their display, activities, and handouts? Each group will have

one half of an eight-foot table to display information about their mission/ministry. With your four feet of space, be

creative, inviting, and make sure you have a sign-up sheet or way to collect contact information for people

interested in your ministry!

How will groups be chosen for participation? Because space is limited, reservations will be accepted on a first-

come, first-served basis. We encourage you to reserve your space early.

How to reserve table space: Complete and return a reservation form to a member of the Stewardship Committee

(or the Stewardship mailbox in the narthex) by Sunday, October 27.

When is setup & teardown? Groups may set up beginning Saturday, November 16. All materials must be removed

at the end of the fair on Sunday, November 17.

Will there be food at the fair? Of course. Visitors will experience the culinary talents of fellow church family

members with strolling appetizers, featuring delicious finger foods. Call Cathy McKinstry to volunteer.

Whom do I contact with questions? Any member of the Stewardship Committee: Doug Heasley, Jack Farrow,

Scott Boothroyd, Orlean Heidel, or Tina Creguer.

Calling all cooks… We know that there is lots of talent in our congregation and favorite recipes to share! We are looking for volunteers to provide finger appetizers and desserts for the Impact Fair on Sunday morning, November 17th. Please call Cathy McKinstry at 734-751-8707 and let her know what you will be making. Please limit this to „finger foods‟ as we will not be providing utensils. Thank you in advance for your help! Please plan to deliver your yummy donation to the kitchen before church that morning, so we can serve it during the fair.

Presbyterian Women

"Lunch and a Book" meets the first Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 PM in the Hearth Room and we'd love to have you join us. If you'd like, bring a sack lunch. A sweet treat and beverage will be provided. Got a question - contact Audrey Williams 313-303-0405. Here's what we'll be reading and talking about:

November 6 - “The Last Bus to Wisdom” by Ivan Doig

December 4 - “The Gown” by Jennifer Robson

Help keep our children and environment safe. Safely dispose of prescription medications and hazardous waste! National Prescription Drug Take Back Day - October 26, 2019 Help prevent the misuse and abuse of prescription medications. Bring any unused medications, including opioids, to a local collection site for safe, anonymous disposal. Over 26,000 pounds of medications were collected in Michigan at the Drug Take Back Day last April. Think about how many people were kept safe because others safely disposed of their unneeded medications. Your participation can help prevent drug abuse! You can bring medications to the following locations on October 26 between the hours of 10AM - 2PM - Plymouth Township Police, Canton Township Police, Novi Police, and any Michigan State Police. Other locations may be added as the date gets closer. Check https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/index.html for additional locations. Can‟t make it to this event? Check the Safe Medication Disposal flyer in the Earth Care section of the FPCP web page for information about ways to safely dispose of medications year round.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

That‟s right, only 64 more days until the big day, so that means it‟s

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX TIME! A simple shoebox can make a BIG difference in the life of a

needy child.

YOU and your FAMILY can help by picking up a shoebox to fill in the Lower Narthex as you leave church today.

Help us reach our goal of a whopping

150 shoeboxes!

Save the Dates!

Presbyterian Women’s Festival of Tables will be held on Monday, December 9, and we‟re looking forward to an inspiring and beautiful evening. This year, Anna Graham is organizing the event and has some new ideas and changes in store for us. You might have already signed up last year to be a hostess or you might want to be a hostess this year. The list of those who signed up last year is posted on the Presbyterian Women‟s bulletin board near the elevator. If you want to host, but didn‟t sign up yet, just add your name to the list. The hostess meeting will be on Wednesday October 23rd at 7:00 PM in the Calvin Room. If you signed up to be a hostess last year, or if you want to be a hostess, then please plan on coming to this meeting. You‟ll learn about the changes being made for this year‟s event from Anna, and will be able to get your tickets from Peggy Kmieciak.

Questions or can‟t make it to the meeting?? Contact Anna Graham at [email protected]
