Quality of life starts with the climate Residential ventilation by Systemair

Those wishing to build or carry out renovations today are faced with a challenge. The current building regulations demands better insulated and air-tight buildings in order to protect our resources and the environment. Air-tight well insulated buildings prevent natural ventilation through the buildings component parts, which could result in the forma-tion of mould through damp stagnant stale air, which is det-rimental to both the building structure and the health of the occupants. The solution is The SaveVent Comfort -controlled room ventilation by Systemair.

Room ventilation of the highest standardFor over 35 years now, we here at Systemair have been making energy efficient clean air a reality. Be that in large shopping centres, hospitals or simply in the confines of your home. With SaveVent Comfort, we offer you a system which lets you enjoy fresh air around the clock, without having to lift a finger. This is because the air exchange occurs automati-cally and, importantly, is regulated. Opening the windows for a quick airing-out is no longer necessary. Not only is this

8 |

very convenient, you also save both money and energy in the process. Why? Because the heating energy stays where it’s supposed to: in the house. This is especially the case with heat recovery. In this process, the waste air is extracted and used for tempering the cool fresh air, unsightly trickle ventilators, causing draughts, become a thing of the past.

One of life’s luxuriesAlong with used stale air, SaveVent Comfort also expels exces-sive air moisture. This way, you can enjoy a pleasant environ-ment without condensation and mould being eliminated. Not only does this protect the basic fabric of the building, it protects the occupants’ health as well. Just as beneficial to their well-being are our high-quality pollen and dust filters. Even people with allergies can now breathe a sigh of relief with the seal of approval from the British Allergy Foundation. This is how your controlled room ventilation works:The extract fan within the ventilation system extracts air from the wet rooms (kitchen, bathroom, WC) on an continual basis. Depending on the system, a heat exchanger extracts the heat

Principle

Page 9: Residential Ventilation Brochure.pdf

| 9

from waste air first. At the same time, fresh air from outside is taken in and filtered.

If necessary, the heat exchanger pre-tempers the cool outside air using the waste air. The fresh air then flows through the vents into the rooms. From there, the supply air flows to the living areas via the landing and hallway and into the kitchen bathroom and WC. This way, the two different air streams don’t mix. The result being an optimum room environment.

Principle

Page 10: Residential Ventilation Brochure.pdf

Creating a good atmosphere is a matter of trust SaveVent Comfort

A room’s climate is not a constant, instead it depends on a number of factors, for example, room moisture, CO2 satura-tion, the size of the room as well as the number of people in the room and how long they stay there. All these factors are taken into account with a correctly sized Systemair ventila-tion system. A system which is perfectly tailored to your clients’ needs and buildings, regardless of whether it’s a new build or renovation work. In short: a system like SaveVent Comfort.

Optimum planningIn close collaboration with you, we plan your personal room ventilation options. Based on our calculations and our decades of experience, we put together the SaveVent Comfort system components for you. Of course, we take into account the specific wishes of your clients when doing so, perhaps they want a ventilation system with geothermal heat-ex-changer for example (see p. 20). So what does it all mean? It means you can guarantee complete satisfaction at all times.

10 |

Intelligent room ventilationSensors determine the exact degree of ventilation necessary according to building usage. Subsequently, the intensity of ventilation is monitored effectively, that is, the rotation of the fan is adjusted to meet the requirements necessary at any specific time. This means that the system isn’t always running at full speed. Similarly, preheating the fresh air is only done when needed. This way, your energy costs can be considerably reduced. And since the control mechanism responds without delay, the occupants can enjoy a balanced and healthy, energy efficient indoor environment 24/7. Intelligent technology you can trust from Systemair.

Systemair runs a special design office for room ventilation systems. These planners are well-trained especially for ventilation in rooms and are able to plan and to offer the most suitable ventilation system for you.

We use the planning software Plancal:Plancal-Nova is a stand-alone drawing software for HVAC. It requires no other CAD applications and is widely used in the HVAC sector.

Plancal-Nova can import and modify drawings from other architecture or drawing software and export them again. Plans can be read and created in 2D as well as in 3D.

Visualisation methods of projects:2D for ground plans or 3D models with or without building. Unclear details can be displayed as sections or 3D details. 3D models offer different perspective views or allow you to take a virtual tour through a building.

CAD planning for ventilation systems

Systemair data setSystemair has created a data set for this software with some specific features: Plancal Nova uses components of the Systemair room ventilation product range and allows calculating the planned system by using the determined air volume with regard to pressure losses of the unit up to the outlets. The determined operation point helps calculating the data of the unit, such as power consumption and sound emission. Plancal Nova can also calculate noise reduction of the duct system from the unit up to the outlets. Therefore, noise problems can be detected early and prevented during the planning phase.

After planning, a suitable bill of materials with Systemair article numbers can be generated to make a detailed offer. The CAD plans can also be used to release installation plans with specified information concerning duct installation inclusive legends and identification marking in colours. This considerably facilitates the installation. This planning documentation ensures an easy inspection because the duct installation can be quickly reproduced.

Important flow information of the system will be automatically listed on printouts.

This wide planning service is currently unique and guarantees safety from tender phase to commissioning.

SaveVent BasicEfficient exhaustventilation systemwith manual airflow control

In the basic model, the used indoor air is sucked out. Fresh air flows in through the external wall vents. As such, continuous ventilation of the entire home is assured.

SaveVent Basic +Efficient ventilationsystem withintelligent control

Ventilating rooms is even easier with the EC vent. This intelligent control unit can regulate ventilation according to the current CO2 satu-ration, room temperature, humidity and the number of people in the room. Using these parameters it determines the necessity for ventila-tion and regulates the volume of air. All of it is done automatically.

SaveVent Comfort RHighly efficient ventilation with rotary wheel heat exchanger

Your customers want maximum convenience with minimum heat loss? Then recommend them our rotational heat exchanger system. This extracts the heat from the waste air and pre-tempers the cool fresh air. Some of the humidity of the air is also recovered and transferred to the supply air. High-quality fine particle filters make sure the air stays pure.

SaveVent Comfort CHighly efficient ventilation with counter flowheat exchanger

With a reverse flow heat exchanger your customers can achieve the highest degree of heat recovery. The system automatically switches between normal mode with heat re-covery and summer mode without it. In Summer a bypass function overrides the heat recovery.

Supply your customers with energy from the earthWith Geo, our brine geothermal heat exchanger

Do you want to improve the level of efficiency of your ventila-tion unit? Do you want a pleasant indoor room climate for relaxing on hot summer’s days? Then why not simply use geothermal heating from Systemair. Not only is it available all the time for free, it helps you save on your energy costs too.

The temperature in the earth is practically constant through-out the year. As such, it’s suitable for preheating the cold out-side air in winter with the help of a heat exchanger. Then in summer, the warm air can be cooled down before it reaches your home’s interior. The heat exchanger’s piping needs to be buried at a depth of 1.5 to 2 meters. This is the only way to ensure that a large enough temperature gradient occurs. Since we only want to provide your customers with the best in this area too, we have developed “Geo”. With this geothermal heat exchanger,

the heat or coolness of the earth first passes into the brine (wa-ter with antifreeze agent). Only after it has arrived in the base-ment is it transferred to the supply air using a heat exchanger.

The clear advantage with GeoUnlike the air duct geothermal heat exchanger, with Geo the air is not drawn in through underground pipes. Not only is this more hygienic, it does away with the otherwise necessary regular cleaning. On top of that, Geo is better value and more robust than the air duct system. This is because the piping can have much smaller dimensions (Dia 32 instead of Dia 200). This also means that it is easier to install. Furthermore, the brine system is easier to manage. Your customers decide at what outside temperatures Geo should start up. This conserves the supply of geothermal heat and gives you exactly the room climate you want.

Make household chores fun againVillavent Central Vacuum Cleaner

You will no doubt want to keep up with the times when it comes to household chores too and ensure the greatest con-venience possible. So why not install our Villavent Central Vacuum Cleaner! With this system, all you have to do is insert a suction hose into a socket in the wall and then can get started straight away. No more pulling around a clunky machine behind you, which often likes to get caught on valu-able pieces of furniture, leaving behind ugly marks. And no more need to carry heavy items from floor to floor in order to vacuum clean. Household chores really can be this easy.

Incredible suction. Incredibly quiet.This helps your customers maintain a healthy room climate with clean air. For one, its very strong suction guarantees maximum cleaning of furniture, floor and rugs. For the oth-er, sucked in dirt is sped directly into the vacuum cleaner bag of the central device. This can be mounted in a utility room like the basement or garage. This means that the vacuum cleaner is extremely quiet and you don’t have any annoying

background noise in the rooms of your house.

Additionally, the central device blows the waste air directly to the outside. This ensures that dust doesn’t swirl up in your util-ity room - meaning that time is saved when cleaning and those with allergies don’t have to worry. Equipped with a Hepa filter, the vacuum cleaner is even suited to passive houses whose building envelope cannot be cut through by air discharge openings. The long, flexible suction hose comes equipped with a telescopic pipe and floor nozzle. This means your customers can work in ease and give their backs a break. Maintenance of the central vacuum cleaner is generally limited to regular cleaning of the suction casing and replacing the filter bags.as required.

Systemair Residential Ventilation Systems Exhaust fan unit | 21

General description

• Exhaust air units are the most cost-efficient method of mechanical ventilation.

• Exhaust air units consume less electrical power because only the fan needs energy.

• However: no heat recovery and no pre-heating of supply air !

FunctionThe used, humid and polluted room air in exhaust air rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms and toilet rooms is exhausted by a venti-lator through a duct system and led via roof or facade to the outside. Fresh air enters living rooms, children‘s rooms and bedrooms via facade inlets (valves with filter in the facade) and ensures continuous aeration of the whole apartment. The controlled room ventilation reduces ventilation heat losses compared to conventional aeration by open windows.

KVKE EC

The KVKE EC models have a single inlet centrifugal fan with backward-curved blades and a maintenance-free external rotor motor(EC). These fans develop relatively high static pressure and have a very high efficiency. The fans are delivered with a pre-wired potentiometer (0-10V) that allows you to easily find the desired working point.The KVKE motor and impeller are mounted on the access cover for ease of maintenance. The service cover can be easily removed by withdrawing the hinge pin. Motor protection is integrated in the electronics of the motor. The fans can be installed in any position and are easy to connect to spiral ducts using FK mount-ing clamps. The KVKE models are manufactured from galva-nised sheet steel and are thermally and acoustically insulated with a 50 mm layer of rockwool with a surface liner which pre-vents the migration of fibres into the airstream.

The K EC series is designed for installation in ducts. All the K-fans have minimum 25 mm long spigot connections. The fans have backward-curved blades and external rotor motors (EC). The FK mounting clamp facilitates easy installation and removal, and prevents the transfer of vibration to the duct. The fans are delivered with a pre-wired potentiometer(0-10V) that allows you to easily find the desired working point.The potentiometer is set between 6-10V from factory. This can easily be changed if the installation requires more performance. To protect the motor from overheating the fan has integral thermal contacts with electrical reset. The casing is manufactured from galvanised sheet steel with the seams folded to give the fan a close to air tight casing. Outdoor mounting and wet room applications are possible due to the fans air tight casing and the IP 55 rated terminal box with a IP 68 rated M20 cable gland.

The EC Vent is more than a simple control for EC fans. Combined with EC fans, this tool simplifies demand-controlled ventilation making it easy to set up and operate. The unique feature of the EC-Vent is that it provides for a number of control options with up to five sensors (analog or digital). A single parameter such as temperature can be controlled at several different locations. Alternatively, various parameters, (CO2,

humidity, temperature, etc.) can be combined to control the fan directly or as a complement to the weekly schedule and/or the manual control to boost the ventilation if needed. It can also be used to control a heater/cooler or an extra fan via 0-10 V signal.The EC-Vent consists of two units, one central unit to be placed near the fan and a single display unit normally sited in a room easily accessible to the user. These units are connected to each other with a low voltage cable. The EC-Vent allows to connect up to 5 different sensors that simultaneously detect the actual ventilation requirements. In this way, the EC fan will be steplessly controlled to ventilate exactly as much as needed. The result is a good indoor air quality and the user avoids high electricity bills. The central unit for the EC-Vent can be operated stand-alone from the room unit.

EC-Vent room unit RU (Art.No. 3018) is needed for configuration.

Systemair duct systemsMultiple options available

General description

• The unit is completely self-controlled and is easy to run by the user

• Heat recovery pre-heats supply air

• Fine filters provide clean and dust-free supply air

• A rotary heat exchanger recovers humidity during winter time

• No temperature fluctuations and cold zones in rooms - even at cold outside temperature

Systemair Air Distribution ProductsJust your style - Wall or Ceiling mounted

FunctionExhausted air from kitchens and bathrooms is ducted via the heat recovery unit to the outside. The unit draws fresh air through a seperate duct system. The heat of the exhaust air is transferred up to 88 % by a heat exchanger to the supply air and returned to living and bedrooms. Within the unit the air is filtered, warmed and dehumidified. Supply & Exhaust ductwork is installed to meet the requirements and restrictions of the building.

Notes:a. In addition, the minimum ventilation rate should be not less than 0.3l/s per m2 of internal floor area. (This includes all floors, e.g. for a two-storey building add the ground and first floor areas)b. This is based on two occupants in the main bedroom and a single occupant in all other bedrooms. This should be used as the default value. If a greater level of occupancy is expected add 4l/s per occupant.

Advantages & Dis-advantages for different Dwelling types

Advantages for a single-family house

• High heat recovery, thermal comfort

• Less ventilation heat losses

• Humidity regain during winter time with one rotor

• Pre-heating supply air

• Higher energy saving potential

Disadvantages for a single-family house

• Complex duct system

• Higher investment costs

Advantages for an apartment building

• High energy saving potential and less heating is required

• High heat recovery

Disadvantages for an apartment building

• Complex duct system

• Higher investment costs

• Fire safety and sound protection requirements

• Central units: „Heat theft“

Conclusion:A ventilation unit with heat recovery provides a healthy, comfortable indoor enviroment with filtered supply air to the dwelling. Further-more, the energy saving potential meets the future requirements. The decision for a unit with heat recovery allows combining comfort and energy savings.Counterflow heat exchanger vs. rotary heat exchanger: a rotary heat exchanger is the best choice for single-family houses or single resi-dential units. It is more effective and creates a better indoor climate plus thers is no requirement for a condensate drain to overflow. These rotary wheel units also allow for automatic summer by-pass during warmer months. To supply more than one residential unit, a coun-terflow heat exchanger is the right choice.The required energy for frost protection reduces the efficiency of this exchanger.

Rotary heat exchangers:

Systemair Residential Ventilation Systems Heat Recovery unit | 49

With these fans, heat as well as humidity can be exchanged. Application for single-family houses or residential units with efficiencies up to 85 %.

Heat exchangingThe wheel structure (similar to corru-

gated board) of the exchanger and continuous rotation between hot and cold air flows heats the exhaust air wheel which trans-fers this heat to the cold supply air in winter time. This effect can be used vice versa in summer time by transferring heat of the outside air to the colder exhaust air. This provides a cooling effect in summer and also leads back the cooling energy of the air conditioning.

Humidity transfer with a condensation rotorThe thermal wheel heat exchanger consists of pure aluminium which transfers humidity exactly when condensate appears on the exhaust air side and is absorbed by the outside air. High tem-perature differences can reach humidity return values up to 60 %. With our rotors, humidity is transferred when needed in winter time. This minimizes dry air.

Counterflow heat exchangers are used to transfer heat and can reach an efficiency of more than 90 %.

Heat exchangingCounterflow heat exchangers lead air flows through parallel plates arranged in a row. On the opposite side supply and exhaust air alternates. Warm air flow

transfers energy via the plate to the cold air flow.

Humidity transfer is not possibleIn winter time, condensate has to be drained into a waste water pipe. The drain should always have either a water trap or running trap to prevent stale odours from coming back up from the drain system.

Separated Air Streams Supply and exhaust air are totally separated from each other to keep the supply air clean.

Counterflow heat exchanger

Frost protectionThe higher the efficiency of an exchanger, the more condensate drops out at high temperature differences. The efficiency also influences the temperature when frost protection is necessary for the exchanger. This concerns outside temperatures when condensate starts freezing. For high quality counter cross-flow heat exchangers with an efficiency of 90 %, this can already begin at -3 °C. In contrast, simple cross-flow heat exchangers with an efficiency of app. 55 %, this does not start until app. -14 °C. The amount of energy necessary for frost protection is correspondingly different. To ensure frost protection and to avoid pulling out energy from the exchanger, outside air can be pre-heated, the supply air can be set back or or the outside air can be bypassed at the heat exchanger via a bypass flap. The missing heat transfer by setting back the supply air fan or during bypass of the supply air has then to be replaced by the heating system.

rotation of the storage mass. Constructive modifications prevent this for units which are /DE marked (transmission 0.1 %).

Rinse chamberSome outside air flow is led on the exhaust air side to produce a rinsing effect. This reduces the transmission of exhaust air to a minimum by carryover. For correct operation of the rinse chamber, a pressure gradient of min. 200 Pa on supply and ex-haust air is necessary.

Frost protectionA condensate drain is not required in residential construction. Furthermore, the rotor does not freeze because of the trans-mission of condensate down to -30 °C by a little exhaust air surplus. A frost protection for heat exchangers is not needed.

As a result of a considerably lower pressure loss in the kitchen hood duct, the exhaust air fan boosts more air than the supply air fan whereas app. 80 % of exhaust air is led through the hood. Make sure that enough outside air is available during kitchen hood operation.

Control Panel for almost all units!

This remote control is necessary for (type -DC). It is possible to connect up to 3 remote controls at the same time.

Remote control CD is already integrated in the front of wall units (type – DCV). It is possible to connect up to two remote controls type CD. Automatic control units are already installed and presetted in the units.

The remote control CD has an appealing, functional design and is easy to operate by a selection knob and two buttons. The unit can be operated manually or by the integrated time switch for day and night operation.

The control program offers two user levels: user level and service level. The user level allows adjusting air volume and temperature; filter replacement intervals, heating and cooling operation etc. can be read. Parameters and basic settings can be changed in the service level.

The built-in control unit enables to control speeds via potential-free relays

(also suitable for monitoring the differential pressure in combination with wood stoves).

The function of these relays can be set with the remote control CD. Additional close and push-button contacts (heating ON/OFF, external ON/OFF, filter reset, vacation operation) are fixed preset and can be used when needed.

Each external cooling and heating coil can be controlled by a 0-10 V signal (power supply 24V on site).

A 4-wire low voltage wire (2x2x0.8 mm²) as a control cable is sufficient. Use a shielded cable when installed in combination with a 230 V cable.

82 | Duct work & Fittings Systemair Residential Ventilation Systems

Systemair Duct SystemsVery flexible

Spiral seam pipe or plastic pipe systemSystemair offers spiral seam pipes in round and oval versions (flat duct) and Systemair-Flex+ plastic pipes, “The NEW semi-rigid”. All inner sides are smooth and therefore aerodynamical and easy to clean.

Dimensioning of duct systemsThe dimensioning of the ducts for the ventilation system is made according to the requirements of the unit (calculation of the required supply air according to DIN 1946-6) and according to the situation in the building. Flow engineering and acoustic properties have first priorities.The duct installation has to be coordinated early enough with other crafts on site.

The duct size depends on the air volume. To avoid high pressure losses and unwanted noise, we recommend an air velocity of max. 3 m/s in the main duct.

When round, rectangular or oval ducts are used, the air velocity is lower at the same pressure loss in the duct.Different diameters must not be proportional installed. The pressure differences between the longest and the shortest sections have to be reduced to guarantee the previously defined air flow for all air outlets.

Round pipe (spiral seam pipe) with telescopic pipeFor duct systems with spiral seam

pipes, Systemair uses folded spiral seam pipes with a length of 1.2 m as well as telescopic pipes. The elements are equipped with rubber-lip seals. The length of the telescopic pipe can be freely adjusted. The most important advantage of this duct system is that it can be installed without cutting or trimming work. This saves installation time and makes maintenance and cleaning easier.

All joints have to be fixed by sheet metal screws and also sealed with tape.

Oval duct / flat ductFlat ducts are made of galvanized steel sheet. The elements are made of stainless steel and are connected by a plug-in system. Fixing and sealing is made by cold shrink tape.

Available sizes: System 100 (129 x 52); length 3 mSystem 151 (208 x 52); length 3 m

Systemair Flex+ - the flexible plastic pipeThe Flex+ pipe is made of physiologically and toxicologically safe PVC with no recycling materials. Thus, it is neutral in odour, free of halogens, emission-free, antistatic and antibacterial.

Easy and time saving installation by a click system. Hermetically sealed connections ensure an absolutely air tight system without further sealing work. Therefore, it works economically and hygienically because no air can leak and no other substances can enter from outside.

Deliverable sizes: DiameterDN 50, 63, 75, 90

Systemair ISO+ - a perfect combination of heat and sound insulationOuter sheath made of polyethylene with high density (HDPE); inner sheath made of polyolefin with closed cell structure. Flexible fast clamp made of EPDM. The special design of the pipes provides thermical and acoustic insulation.

Pipe kit availableVentilation systems from Systemair are individually planned for each building.The air volume is calculated according to DIN 1946-6, the unit is accordingly specified and the duct system is planned inclusive silencers, insulation, outlets and mounting material. The duct system is assembled and delivered according to the material list of the planning.

FunctionIntended to equip the facilities hous-ing MEV, housing and local service, the range of the AE extraction air valves self meets the regulatory requirements while combining aesthetics and technology. Reliability mechanical, proven function-ality, performance ventilation and noise are the major assets of all AE air valves series. The AE air valves meets the habi-tat requirements of the NF MEV. Single or double speed, both models perfectly consistent allow a uniform architectural treatment between kitchen, bathroom and WC.

ModelProduced in white polystyrene (stand-ard), the AE air valve, installed in WC room and baths, provides a flow of extrac-tion determined.

OperationThe regulator consists of a rigid compo-nent and ensures a determined air flow of extraction within a range of pressure between 50 and 160 Pascals.

PrincipalsThe extract is always on tension thanks to a connection normally switched off.An impulse on the switch creates a power cut which opens the extract to its maximum-flow (opening time: around 40 seconds).The 230 V supply of the extract is pro-vided by two wires (2 x 1.5 mm²) to be connected,going out by the back of the support plate (see drawing). This must have a protectiondevice clearly identi-fied on the electric board - class II electric appliance -.After taking out the casing vent (2), unscrew the box (5). The wires go through a cableat the back of the

FunctionBHC 100 is a motorized damper with in-tegrated motion (PIR) and humidity sen-sor for bathroom installations. The extract units may be installed either on the wall (in a vertical or horizontal position), or the ceiling. The humidity and the motion sensors work independently of each other. The damper opens whenever motion is indicated and closes 25 min after the last indication. The humidity sensor controls the fully modulating damper from RH 30% to 75%. The movement sensor is de-pendent on a power supply and the BHC uses either a 9V battery or 12V AC. The humidity sensors will open the damper regardless of a power supply.

Constant flow Regulators | 115

Air volume controllerRDA Constant volume damper

FunctionThe air flow regulator RDA is an element placed inside the duct in order to obtain a constant flow within a pressure range from 50 to 200 Pascal. It is used in venti-lation or air conditioning systems for sup-ply or return air. The air is forced to pass through predetermined space in which a flap can change the position according to the specified air flow. The flap is attached on to a calibrated spring and therefore no auxiliary power is needed.

DesignRDA is made from plastic material (poly-styrene) classified M1 in grey colour. Maximum temperature is 60°C.

MountingRDA is inserted directly into a horizon-tal or vertical circular duct. It is fixed and kept airtight by a lip seal. Arrow indicates the airflow. If the unit is placed in supply duct, the space between the diffuser and the unit must be at least 3x diameter of the duct. If used for return air the space must be 1x diameter of the duct.

Tune-RSingle Blade Damper

FunctionTune-R is a control and shut off damper for round ducts. It is available in various versions with blade tightness class 1 or 4 and casing tightness class A or C tested according to EN 1751. A1 version is ideal in simple installa-tions for regulating the air volume in circular ducts. C1 ver-sion is required for duct installation with airtight require-ments towards the outside of the duct or to minimize the leakage towards the outside surroundings. It can also be used as a shut off damper for air handling units, combined with a spring return actuator. In case of power outage the damper can maintain a fully closed position. The damper’s special construction allows external insulation up to 50 mm. The damper can be supplied in a manual or

motorized version with an integrated position indicator.

DesignThe damper is manufactured from a galvanized steel sheet and is silicone-free. All the gaskets are manufactured from black rubber. Plastic bushings are from a PPO material. All the mate-rials are flame retardant.

Fire Dampers | 117

Cartridge fire dampers are designed and have CE mark in accordance with EN 15650 and certified to comply with the EI-S (EN 1366-2) performance attributes. PKI-C fire dampers are designed to be embedded into fire parti-tion walls, or at the end of a duct in front of the valve. Installation of these devices is described in the Installation, Operation and Maintenance of the Cartridge Fire Dampers manual. As a standard, all the dampers are supplied in a basic version, with a microswitch, or accessories - cover plates .

The fire damper automatically sets itself to a „CLOSE“ position if the ther-mal fuse link gets ruptured. After the closure, the damper blade is mecha-nically secured in the closed position and can only be opened manually, which requires access of the maintenance staff into the duct. To improve the duct accessibility for fire damper inspection purposes, we supply a flexible coupling as an accessory- labelled as TVKC in the Ordering Codes section. The thermal fuse link releases the coupling mechanism when the air temperature in the damper exceeds 72°C.

Why choose a ground heat exchanger?In the winter, domestic heat recovery units switch to a frost protectionmode at low temperatures outside. This usually means that the supplyfan slows down, causing an imbalance between the supply and exhaust air through the heat recovery unit. Another possibility is that a (pre-) heater is turned on, which usually consumes 1 to 2kW of energy.In the summer, at high external tempera-tures, the supply air from outside can be warmer than the air inside the house. Thus, this warm supply air can heat the house while this is not preferable.The horizontal ground heat exchanger GEO can offer a solution forthe problems mentioned above, using a minimum of energy.

Example of installation GEO

Dimensions

Why choose a GEO?GEO has its own control which can be used in combination with any type of heat recovery unit. This control will start the highly energyefficient pump of the GEO at specific set outside temperatures, causing the liquid to flow through the duct. The temperature of the liquid, will approach the temperature of the soil and will transfer its energy to the supply air of the heat recovery system through the battery of the GEO.By using GEO, the efficiency of the heat recovery can be increased.

Benefits• With 8W energy, you can gain up to

1.5 kW;

• Can be used in combination with any HR-unit up to 500m³/h;

• Increases the efficiency of the heat recovery unit;

• Has its own control, allowing energy con- sumption only when needed;

• Has an A label-EC pump and a G4 filter for the protection of the heat exchanger;

• Is easy to install, all in 1 case (pump, control, sensors, filters, filling and venting unit, battery, gauge, vent valve, volume meter, and pressure vessel);

• Has a right / left version in 1 unit and the air to the heat recovery unit can be mounted both on the top and on the side;

• Thanks to relatively thin duct (25 mm), it is easy to install;

• Is an hygienic and attractive solution;

• Is easy to clean: condensation develops in the Aquacom, which is led to the sewer through the condensate drain.

Systemair‘s combi unit „Genius“ efficiently and economically combines the complete building equipment for energy efficient single-family houses.

Controlled room ventilation is more and more necessary for houses with modern building standards. New buildings as well as renovated buildings have higher insulation standards with less heating loads. Consequently, conventional heating systems are often over-dimensioned. Systemair‘s combi unit „Genius“ provides the solution - the ventilation system enables heating as well as cooling in an efficient way. This can be achieved by temporarily increasing the volumetric flow in combination with an air-air/air-water-heat pump. The pump also provides higher hot water comfort.Genius optimises HVAC for energy efficient buildings. Therefore, it is possible to conceive self-sufficient and CO2 neutral systems in combination with PV systems.

Controlled room ventilation with heat recovery

Controlled room ventilation with integrated heat recovery provides a balanced and agreeable indoor climate.Permanent fresh air supply into living rooms and exhaust of used air guarantee a healthy indoor climate. Heat recovery is provided by a rotating heat exchanger which transfers exhaust air heat to the supply air - the heat remains in the building.

Heating and cooling with heat pumps

Heating in winter and cooling in summer! This is made possible by a steplessly controlled air-air/air-water-heat pump.The heat pump adjusts its performance according to the requirements for a highly efficient operation.Used air is exhausted from living areas via a separate duct system and led back after treatment (heating or cooling) to living and sleeping areas. This is a pure air heating/cooling system.The exhaust system remains unaffected. Odour or substance transmission from exhausted rooms to supply air is thereby excluded.

Hot water generation

The Genius building services centre is equipped with a 150 litres drinking water reservoir. The service centre ensures hot water comfort because water treatment works during all operating modes.As a consequence, the water is heated to the required temperature parallel to heating or cooling operation.The water reservoir features an electric heating element to guarantee operation at low external temperatures.

Control unit

The control unit of the building services centre is able to control the complete heating, cooling, hot water system and ventilation.The control unit provides a user level for the owner and a service level for service personnel. The entire control unit can be controlled by an internet application.
