INTRODUCTION: Vacuum can be defined as a space from which the air has been removed, thus containing very few particles of matter. A perfect vacuum contains no matter at all, but for practical purpose soft or low vacuum is defined as down to 10-2 Pascal and hard or high vacuum is as below this, ultra high vacuum is lower then 10-7

Pascal, while atmospheric pressure is 101325pascal or 100kpascal approx. THE IDEA: Till now not much work is done in field of practical use of vacuum, the work is only done for creating the vacuum. My idea is to use vacuum in practical purposes for increasing the efficiency of rotating machines. The idea is very simple, as we know that vacuum is void and it contains nothing, not even air particles. Hence if we make any fan or flywheel etc. to rotate inside vacuum, the fan or flywheel will exert no air friction resulting a certain increase in rpm as compared to standard temperature and pressure. If we stop the external power supply then also the fan will not stop rotating, as there is no air friction to oppose its rotation. Hence with just one stroke of energy we can start the rotation and carry on those rotations even when the power supply is switched off. It will surely going to save a lot of energy. So this vacuum can really increase the efficiency of any rotating machine, and finally we can come over the energy crises… KEY WORDS: vacuum, rotating machines, air friction, rpm. I.

Pascal, while atmospheric pressure is 101325pascal or 100k pascal approx. II. THEORY: The theory I have got is very simple it involves the basic fact that vacuum is void and it contains nothing not even air particles. My idea is to use this property of vacuum by making any fan, flywheel, turbine etc. to rotate inside the vacuum, the fan, flywheel, or turbine will exert no air friction resulting a certain increase in its rpm as compared to standard temperature and pressure. Its other main feature will be; even if we stop the external power supply then also the fan will not stop rotating, as there is no air friction to oppose its rotation.

III. THE SET UP:

Fig. practical setupThe practical setup I have planned is very simple, it consists of:

1. dc motor2. a fan or turbine3. vacuum gauge4. vacuum cleaner as sucker to create vacuum5. a tube in which vacuum can be created

there will be a shaft connected to motor which contains fan or turbine can bemade to pass through the vacuum tube, and the result in change in the rpm andthe stopping time of motor can be compared by nothing down the rpm and thestopping time at standard temperature and pressure and then noting down therpm and the stopping time inside the vacuum tube.Hence we will be note the following observations while performing the test bygradually decreasing the pressure inside the tube:

1. pressure2. rotations per minute3. time taken by the turbine to stop after power supply is switched off.

IV. THE EXPECTED RESULTS:

Keeping in mind the fact that inside vacuum tube there will be no air pressure orfriction to oppose the rotation of fan or turbine, therefore there will be a definiteincrease in rpm and stopping time of the motor with decrease in pressure.Hence we can conclude that:-

p∝1/rpm ….(1)p∝1/t ….(2)

wherep = pressurerpm = rotations per minutet = time taken by the turbine to stop after power supply is switchedoff.

The expected graphs can be plotted as:

V. APPLICATIONS AND DRAWBACKSThis setup can be used or applied in many fields such as power generationplants etc. rather it can be used where ever any rotating body is present. We canuse this setup to save a large amount of energy. The main drawback with this setup is problems to create vacuum. But withmodern techniques it’s not going to give us a lot of trouble.

VI. CONCLUSION:By using this type of setup we can practically use vacuum in increasing the rpmand efficiency of any rotating body, and hence can save lot energy. So whoknows in future your bikes and cars can have these small setups to increase thespeed and more importantly the millage. The big power plants can also use it toincrease their production.
