ision of the College: “To impart world-class Engineering

and Management education in an environment

of spiritual foundation to serve the global society”

Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon was established in the year 1983

to impart technical education in rural area of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It initially started

three degree courses i.e. B.E. Electrical Power System Engineering, Electronics Engineering and

Industrial Electronics Engineering having 60 intake each with due permission from the Director

of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai and affiliation to Amravati

University (now named as Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University), Amravati. Subsequently, it

started B.E. Computer Sciences and Engineering in 1985 with 60 intake. All these four B.E.

courses were approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi in the year

1992. Latter on, it added AICTE approved courses namely B.E. Mechanical Engineering (1993),

Master of Business Administration-MBA (1994), M.E. Electrical Power System (1996), M.E.

Digital Electronics (1998) and B.E. Information Technology (2001) with intake 60 students each

of B.E. courses, M.E. courses having intake capacity of 18 students each and MBA having intake

capacity of 60 students. B.E. Industrial Electronics course having intake capacity of 60 have been

converted into B.E. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in year of 1987 with 120

intake.

In all 1953 students are on roll in this 2011-2012 session. All the students and their

parents (Father OR Mother) are insured under Students Uni Study Care Policy

(Only Accidental Death) in which Rs.1,00,000/- (Rs. One Lack Only) and students Rs.50,000/-

(Fifty Thousand Only) are covered in case of parents accidental death remaining years college

fees is paid by Insurance Company. College is paying around Rs.2,50,000/- (Rs. Two Lack Fifty

Thousand Only) towards premium every year without charging from the students.

College is constructed in 80 acres of campus in over 65,000 sq. mt. with various Faculty

Building, Library Building, Gymnasium, Hostels for Boys and Girls and Staff Quarters.

Laboratories are recognized for Ph.D. works by the affiliating university. Partially automated

recently library with 75,000 books, 315 journals, e-collections, online subscriptions. College is

having 120 highly qualified faculty members. Industry relevant job-oriented Certificate courses

for unemployed, unskilled and semiskilled local youths were started (2005) in order to make

concerted efforts in the core discipline of engineering and management education. Today the

college imparts (with endeavor for world-class) technical education in 05 UG, 03 PG courses in

engineering and management and a number of need-based Certificate courses with thrust on

research and invention through a separately established Sant Gajanan Invention And Research

Center (SGIARC) in a spiritually founded environment.

Come 21st century and the college shifted its focus on consolidating its strength and

quality orientation which has aptly been rewarded. It obtained permanent affiliation from

SGBAU (2001), and UGC recognition under 2f (1999) and 12b (2003). It is the first self-

financed engineering college in Vidarbha, and only second after VNIT, Nagpur. Amongst all

colleges of the region, to have obtained program accreditation from National Board of

Accreditation - NBA (2001) for its 03 B.E. courses, for M.B.A. & B.E. Computer

Engg.(2002),Institutional Accreditation from NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation

Council) in B+ grade (2003). This college selected for Network Institution under first phase

Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) of World Bank Project of MHRD,

Govt. of India, New Delhi (2004) for a financial assistance of Rs. 5 Crores, 2nd time NBA

accreditation for its 04 B.E. and M.B.A. courses (2005 & 2007), NBA accreditation of B.E. (I.T.)

and M.E. Digital Electronics (2008), 3rd NBA accreditation visit for 03 B.E. courses completed,

NAAC re-accreditation report is submitted now and the 2nd phase TEQIP is on the anvil.

College office is a Central Administrative place in the college. From first year

admissions and record of the 2nd year, 3rd year & 4th year students is maintained in the office,

Establishment records, college accounts, outward correspondence and all type of service to the

students is given. Preparation of the University examinations start from the office. College

sponsored Scholarship; Merit Scholarship for poor and weaker students, Government Caste

quotas Scholarship and Free ship is also served through the office. College has distributed

Scholarship Rs.12, 66,000/- for this year ire respective of Government Caste Quota Scholarship.

College is running under LIC Superannuation Policy, Group Insurance and Accidental Insurance

Policy for the staff.

To develop the leadership and initiative to inculcate a sense of responsibility amongst the

language for the ITI students under the community services program. Under the able guidance of

Prof Mrs N M Thakare, the departmental association, „CSESA‟ has conducted various technical

events which gained an overwhelming response from the whole college.

The students of this department have participated in various national technical

events organized by various colleges all over the country and gained prizes. This year Prof Mrs.

N M Thakare, Ms D P Patil, and Ms Kulkarni has published papers in various International and

National Conferences.

The department has organized various guest / expert lectures on various topics

and the eminent professors viz., Prof O G Kakde & Prof Sathe, VNIT, Nagpur, Prof M Kolekar,

IIT Patna, Prof. Mrs. A Mahajan, PIT, Nagpur, visited the department and guided the students.

V.Hantode.

This year HOD of IT department Prof S. S. Prabhune was honoured with the Ph.D. in

Computer Science by VNIT, Nagpur.

Prof. G. A. Dashmukhe was honoured by Ram Meghe engineering College for

completing his ME in CSE. Prof.S. S. Gonge achieved the Best Paper award at International

Conference on Computer Science & Information Technology (CSIT-2011) at Bangalore which

was organized by IRNET.

On the occasion of engineer‟s day, on 15th September 2011, IEEE had

organized „JAJWALYA‟ a guest lecture for all the students from 1st to 4th

year. Guest was Dilip Peshawe from VNIT College of Engineering, Nagpur.

ME DEPARTMENT OF EXTC:-

a) Mr. Chandrasen Janjal of M.E. (Digital Electronics) II year student

hadparticipated in project competition event at Mumbai organized by

Association of Electronics & Electrical manufactures (IEEMA – 2012).

National & International Companies (around 500) have participatated the same

event

b) On 09th November 2011, Dr. Rajkamal of Devi Ahilya University , Indore delivered 04

lectures on Real Time operation systems and Embedded Systems. 40 students of ME

( Digital Electronics ) attended the lectures. The topics of lecture is part of Syllabus of

Embedded System Design of ME (Digital Electronics) course. The co-ordinator of this

event was Prof. U. A. Rane.

WORKSHOPS IN EXTC DEPARTMENT:-

1.VLSI & Embedded System Design Centre(Cadence Equipped):-

VLSI & Embedded System Design Centre (Cadence Equipped), SGIARC,

Shegaon organized one week (5 Days) workshop on the “VLSI analog and

Digital Design flow on Cadence EDA Tools” from 16th Jan 2012 to 20th Jan

2012.Two engineers from Cadence, Bangalore Mr. Uma Shankar and Mr. Arpit

conducted the workshop. Incharge of this workshop was Prof. Santosh B. Patil

VLSI and Embedded System Design Centre (CADENCE

Equipped),SGIARC.

2. PCB Design Workshop:-

EXTC department conducted the PCB Design Workshop for the 2nd

year students of

EXTC and ELECTRICAL department. It was held from 16/08/2011 to 18/09/2011. Total 106

students enrolled and successfully completed the workshop.

The co-ordinator of this workshop was Prof. Pravin R. Wankhede.

3.AICTE Sponsored STTP On HF & MICROWAVES:-

The department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering conducted

AICTE sponsored short term training program on “UHF & MICROWAVES” during 20-

24 June, 2011 at SSGMCE, Shegaon. During the program various eminent personalities

delivered their expert talk on the recent trends in microwave communications. Hands on

training in UHF and Microwave was also provided through interactive practical sessions.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM :-

The community development program was offered by the department of EXTC on

dated 09/11/2011 to12/11/2011.The topic for the program was “PCB Design”. Program was

conducted by Mr. P.R. Wankhede & Mr. A. N. Doals , Lecturer EXTC dept.

Department of EXTC also had arranged an Industrial Tour for 3rd

students at

Scientech Technology, PVT. LTD. Indore on date 10th

and 11th Feb 2012.

Prof & Head - EXTC Dept

Prof. S. V. Yenkar is successfully shouldering the responsibility as head of the

department. In this department there are 12 teaching and 6 non-teaching staff. Out of this 12,

two Ph.D., four M.Phil., others are M.Sc., B.Ed., & M.B.A. Dr. J. S. Bakare, the Physics faculty

have received his honors in Ph.D. from Pune university this year. Along with this, 3 faculty

members are doing their Ph.D work where as Prof. R. M. Kharate had already submitted his

Ph.D. thesis to Amravati university which is under consideration. ASH department has three

laboratories. The lab. in-charge for Physics Lab. is Dr. J. S. Bakare, for Chemistry Lab. is Prof.

A. V. Patil and for English language lab. is Prof. Ms. H. D. Akhare. Many faculties have taken

active participation and had presented their research work in workshop, meetings and

conferences in their respective field organized at national level across the country. In academic

year 2011-12, Dr. N.A.Patil had presented 6 research papers at National Conference and 1

research paper published in International Journal. Recently Dr. N. A. Patil got recognition as a

Ph. D. Supervisor by the Amravati University. Dr. J.S.Bakare also presented research paper at

International conference.

Faculty members of the department are also engaged themselves successfully in

organizing various extra-curricular activities such as NSS, NBA, NAAC, ISO, ISTE, Alumni

Meet, Cultural activities, Sports, Tattwadarshi Magazines, Science World, etc. at college level.

Prof. A. V. Patil looks after Community Development And Extension Service Cell as a Chief

coordinator. Dr. N. A. Patil looks after Students' council, Tattwadarshi magazine, Prof. R. M.

kharate looks after the Hostels (Boys & Girls) as a Chief Warden along with Prof. A.S. Alane as

a warden. Prof. A.S. Alane and Prof. Ms. S. S. Atthawale look after NSS as programme

officers. Prof. N.S.Thakare looks after organizing spiritual activities at college level. Prof. R. P.

Rewaskar looks after Community Development And Extension Service activities at department

level. Prof. A.S. Alane looks after Science World events.

We have extreme pleasure to announce that we had maintained a record of excellent

academic result from last 3 years and ranked top-most in first and second semester among all the

engineering colleges under the SGBA University with average result of 69.79% for first semester

(winter 2011exam.). The SGPA score of 14 students is above 9.00 with highest score gained by

our students Rahul Nimje is 9.63. As such 20 students have scored distinction with highest score

by Rahul Asawa is 86.44%. In last academic year 2010-11 the first semester academic result was

61.41 with highest percentage gained by Shyam Dharaskar was 81.86%. The Second sem.

academic result was 65.30% with highest percentage gained by Anurag Pande was 86.00%. who

stood first with average of 83.83% for both the semester (first & second) where as according to

SGPA score Ms. Chaitali Kapade stood first with 9.46 from first sem. From second sem. Anurag

pande and Nikhil Dhakade stood first with 9.68 SGPA score.

Apart from this, our faculty also teaches Math-III, Math-IV, NMOT, Statistical Methods,

Operation Research, Social Science, Engg. Economics, IMQC, Environmental Studies.

Communication Skill to the 2nd

and 3rd

year classes. Their results are also excellent. From first

year of engineering, we aspired to develop scientific and technical attitude among the students

for their bright future. So every year 28th February is celebrated as a National Science Day

where event like Paper Presentation, Poster and Project Exhibition, Quiz, Debate, Essay Writing

Competition are organized to bring about the overall personality development of the students and

also to create awareness and importance about our mother nature. Students are motivated with

proper guidance and winners are praised with prizes and certificates. All the students take active

part in all the events.

All the teaching and non-teaching staff members from our department take active part in

organizing all these events successfully and hence contribute their best in teaching learning

process and growth of our institution with their hard work and strong dedication.

Mechanical Engineering Department having total 17 Professors of which Professor – 01, Ass.

Ph.D. Also 2 Asstt. Professors are sent by the college to I.I.T. Mumbai and VNIT Nagpur. For

Every Year financial Budget Report be presented by department of Mechanical

Engineering to the central office for the laboratory development and due to this the revenue is

made available from the central office for the purchasing of new machinery and equipments.

Similarly some of the faculties have presented their papers in the International Journals.

Prof. Somani and Prof. Bhadang have presented 3 and 1 papers respectively.

By motivating to the students for the higher education, Students will be Regularly

Guided for Competitive exams like GRE, GATE Etc.

This year many of the students of this department have attempted GATE exam, in that

there are total 19 students of final year. Out of that 3 students got the merit in the examination.

Maharashtra Energy Development Authority sponsored “Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja

Week 2011” Celebrated by the Department.

The following Guest Lecturers are arranged on behalf of students as well as faculties to

know more about the present scenario of the Indian Industries. Till the date seven guest lectures

are arranged.

Prof. Bhatkar working as co-coordinator for T & P Department. There are total 32

students got placed in the different companies.

Under the influence of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) department have

organized different programs for the students like project development, Contraption, and Junk

Yard War etc. Prof. Bhambere and Prof. Bhatkar working on the same project.

Faculty Induction Programme:-

Dr. V. N. Gohokar and other respected members have directed to the Prof.

Bhambele, Prof. Bhadnag and Prof. Bhatkar of the department.

Soft Skill and Personality Development Programme:-

The organization Ms. S & K Associates, Nasik on behalf of the same Mr. Sanjay

Kale & Mr. Khushro Irani. Giving the training for the students round the year.

Similarly the college have arranged the three days lectures of Prof. Mr. Arvind

Nadkarni.

Prof. S. P. Trikal, Prof. S. B. Somani and Prof. S .R. Wagh have taken efforts for the

successesful complection of programme.

AICTE Projects:-

Under the MODROB, Department have received 10.50 Lacks grant. All the Faculties

doing the work for MODROB, RPS, TAPTAC etc.

Under this programme and behalf of department, Prof. Trikal, Prof. Patil and Prof.

Patokar, Mr. Bharsakhle have taken efforts for technological development for the different

industries, helping in getting the revenue for the department.

Community Development Progrmme:-

Under this programme training is given to the Diploma and I. T. I. students on

welding technology subject.

International National Cell:-

Prof. S. R. Wagh is working as a part International Cell. For the Collaboration of

the institute with the well known universities of the England. Prof. Wagh and Prof. Deshmukh

have arranged the visit with superiors of the Nagpur University, regarding the same topic.

Students and Faculties are involved in different activities of the college like PURSUIT,

STAFF GATHERING AND CULFEST ETC.

Prof. S. R. Wagh and Prof. Thute have organized Gathering and Culfest and Prof.

Bhambere have directed the students for PURSUIT 2012.

EKLAVYA PROJECT:-

I.I. T. Bombay have started Eklavya (Distance Education Program for Faculty) for this

project on behalf of mechanical department Prof. Wagh Prof. Patil, Prof. Bhambere and Prof.

Bhadnag is working on the project. Mechanical Engineering Department have got the remote

centre under the same project.

AUTOCAD COURSE:-

Training on AUTO-CAD (Design Software) given by the department for the students

working on CNC Machine. Till the date department have received near about 2 Laks. Rs. From

the said course.

INTERE DEPARTMENTAL PROJECT:-

Under the Guidance of Prof. Wagh and Students of EXTC department are working on

different multisubject projects.

Library is a social institution charged with the most enviable function of dispensing

knowledge to the ignorant informed alike. “Vidya-dan “i.e. imparting of knowledge has been

considered as the most sacred task. The main function of the library is the collection and

preservation of knowledge for its dissemination to all. Its conservation is also an important duty

of the library.

Now a day‟s libraries are using information and communication technologies such

as Barcodes, e-commerce, and e-journals, CD-ROMs. In the present scenario much of

communication link between library and its users is based on LAN and the Internet instead of

personal contact. Due to this communication link our college library is giving more emphasis on

E-information collection, E-information based services and enabling information technologies.

Due to globalization our library is sharing information with DELNET, 4 Million bibliographic

Activities & Developments in the year 2011-12

SGIARC has developed the cotton picking mechanism in collaboration with Dr

Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth,Akola. The collaborative project was funded

by Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) New Delhi.

SGIARC has initiated the process of Research in Ayurvedic medicine and the established

Ayurvedic Research Lab is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial

Research, Government of India, New Delhi. The Ayurvedic herbs are cultivated in the

polyhouse designed and developed at SGIARC.

SGIARC has Participated in Indian Science & Technology Entrepreneurs parks

Incubation Association (ISBA)conference held during 17-19 March 2012 at Pune

Solar panel module manufacturing unit is started in the SSGMCE Campus.

SGIARC has submitted a proposal for IP Facilitation Centre to Micro Small and Medium

Enterprises (MSME),Government of India, New Delhi and is likely to be established in

the near future in SSGMCE Campus, Shegaon.

SGIARC has submitted a proposal for Technological Business Incubator under Micro

Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME),Government of India, New Delhi and is also

likely to be established in the near future in SSGMCE Campus, Shegaon.

SGIARC has signed an agreement with Vrunda Consultancy Services, Ahmedabad for

marketing of the patents filed through SGIARC.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India has sanctioned and

implemented a Solar Radiation Resource Assessment Centre at SGIARC through wind

energy Technology Centre, Chennai.

Sant Gajanan Tool Room (SGTR) is one of the pioneer techno-invention centre

established in the year June 2007 under the banner of SSGMCE, Shegaon. SGTR mainly aimed

at promoting purposeful skill oriented technical education for the youth in India. The center

implements its program of technical training through its training centre & on job training in the

production centre. The institute offers various courses to cover a wide spectrum of technical

manpower at post graduate level, degree level, diploma level & certificate level. Besides above

number of short term courses in the specialized area of design & CNC machining as well as

tailor made modules are designed and conducted to suit customer‟s requirement.

scientifically designed long term, medium term & short term training courses in the field of CNC

technology for various stack holders. Till date, nearly 1400 students have passed out from SGTR

a CNC operator in various industries of Maharashtra state.

The SSGMCE Alumni Association Cell is registered with the Charity Commissioner, Buldana

and the Registration number is F-10852.

This cell is established with the aim to strengthen the bonds between the Alumni and the

institute. This provides the forum to the Alumni of the institute where they can come forward and

share their knowledge, work experience and contacts for all around development of the institute.

The major activities conducted by the Alumni Association are:

Organization Of Alumni Meets: Till date total 11 Alumni meets were organized in the different

part of countries and also one meet was organized abroad.

With the help and sponsorship of the Alumni the Association had arranged Guest-Lectures,

Scholarships, Industry-Institute Interaction. Also the Training and Placement Department was

greatly helped by the Alumni. The Cell is engaged in continuous up gradation of Alumni details.

New Year Greetings were sent to all the Alumni on order to keep the continuous relationship

with the Institute.

In addition to all above activities, the Association takes care of registration, records

of the Alumni and their visits to college.

The faculty advisor (Student‟s Council) periodically arranges the meeting of all the

members of student‟s council. The Principal chairs the meeting after every unit test in presence

of Dean Academic, and in few meetings Dean Examination is also invited to resolve the issues of

the students related to examinations.

The Faculty advisor record the minute of the meeting, which consists of the suggestions,

difficulties of the students, academic suggestions as well as problems etc. Some the problems of

the students are resolved in the same meeting. The remaining problems of the students submitted

to Principal and Dean Academic by the faculty advisor, student council will be taken up in the

meeting of the Dean and Head of the Department.

The resolution of the minutes of the last meeting will be convey to the students council in the

next meeting. Hand over the Counseling record to the authority as and when it is required for

verification or may be for any Purpose also it has to be hand over to the respective counselor for

maintaining his/her future record.

3. Dahi Handi :- On the occasion of Gokul

Ashtami on 27th

sept, 2011 the event Dahi

Handi was organized by the members of

Student‟s cultural council. The venue was In

front of the Guru Nanak Hostel. The college

was seen full of excitement on that day. The

event started with the aarti of Krishna and

Sant Gajanan Maharaj, Teams of each year

students also the MBA students was there for

breaking the dahi handi. After many efforts it

was finally broken by Final year students.

Principal V.N.Gohokar along with the faculty

members were present at the time and

appretiated the efforts taken by the youths. The dhol, tasha and the songs of Krishna

were audible in every corner of SSGMCE campus.

4. Navratri utsav :- Students of SSGMCE

celebrated Navratri this year. Student‟s cultural

council organized the event Navratri utsav on 29th

overwhelming and there was no space left in the

hall. Team consisting of 2 students and 1 faculty of

each department was there for Antakshari. The

songs were sung in one voice by the team and

audience as well. The Computer science Dept stood

1st in Antakshari. After Antakshari, Garbha was there. Interested students took part in

it and at last event came to an end with the aarti of goddess durga.

5. Youth day participation:- Every year our institute celebrates Youth Day on 12th January.

We organize a big celebration by inviting nearby colleges and schools to participate in this

event. Not only local schools and colleges but we also invite reputed institutes like HVPM,

Amravati, Indian Navy personals and dignitaries. This year also, college celebrated 12th

January as Youth Day on the occasion of “Vivekanand Jayanti” The college organized foot

rally, “Yuva jyot”, and Cultural Programmes and at the end of cultural programme

“Mahaprasad” was distributed to all the invited guest, students, staff and participants.

Hon‟ble Dr. D. Y. Patil, Governor Tripura was the chief guest of this programme.

6. Patang Utsav :- Makar Sankarnti, the day

of tilgul and patang this year in true sense

was celebrated in SSGMCE. On the

evening of 15th

Jan, 2012 the sky over the

SSGMCE was looking full of kites. The

venue was New Cricket Ground of

SSGMCE. There was great response by the

students and faculty as well, Principal Dr.

V.N. Gohokar took personal interest in

flying kite in the sky and joined everyone

in the fun. The tilgul was distributed among

all the students on that eve. Finally the

event came to an end with the sunset when

kites were not visible in the sky.

7. Traditional day :- Traditional day was celebrated on 19th

Jan, 2012. This was the

first time in SSGMCE when the Traditional and Filmy wear day was celebrated in

between the regular college days. Students from 1st to final year , also the faculty

members including the principal Dr. V.N. Gohokar took part in the same and

appreciated the student‟s cultural council for the innovative ideas and carrying out

many successful events this year. The college was found full of colors on that day,

boys were dressed in the

traditional as well as in filmy

style while most of the girls

were in sari. Photo session was

being held everywhere and

event came to an end in the

evening.

8. Republic day:- Every

year our institute celebrates

Republic day on 26th January with

great enthusiasm. Along with flag

hosting, various cultural program

and sport events are organized. At

the end of program snacks & tea is provided to participant and guest.

The cultural festival this year had been renamed to Crimson Fiera‟12 which represented

the theme “INCREDIBLE INDIA”. It was a two day event. The activities carried out on

the first day i.e. 25th

Feb‟12 were

NATYARANGA- Drama, VIVARTAN-

dancing and HOBBY EXHIBITION; On the

second day i.e. 26th

Feb‟12 FUN FIESTA

and AAVARTAN- singing were held. The

response of students was overwhelming.

Student‟s cultural council was privileged to

have the presence of Dr V N Gohokar in the

auspicious event and the performance of the

participating students was appreciated by

him.

The encouragement given by the huge

audience was also impressive. The presence

of all the faculty members enriched the glory

of the event and the unity shown by every member of the college by attending the event

was simply awesome. The theme INCREDIBLE INDIA was literally being visualized.

the show can‟t be ignored. The

Pursuit 2012 was inaugurated on 18th

of Feb ‟2012 by Mr.

Umesh Kaul, the Chairman of IBM, Pune and the

Hon.Principal Dr. V.N Gohokar. It was a kickstart to the grand

technical event of the college. A one in its kind and the best so far. This year‟s pursuit

included pre-pursuit activities in the form of various workshops like never before in the

Vidarbha region.

The pre-pursuit activities:-

Robotics workshop:- A workshop on Robotics was held by Bhavsar Electronics, Khamgaon.

This workshop was aimed at the 1st year students. More than 200 students from the college

and outside took the benefit of this workshop. This workshop was held on 11th feb‟2012.

Android :- Android workshop was conducted for the first time in Buldana District.

The workshop was conducted by the faculty form i3indya technologies, New Delhi. The total

number of participants for the workshop were 150 with more than 50% participants from

outside the college. The dates for the workshop were 16 & 17th feb‟2012.

Aerotrix:- Aerotrix was an RC Aircraft design and fabrication workshop conducted by

“Aerotrix” an IIT Kanpur alumni. An amazing number of above 240 participants took the

advantage of the workshop. Participants rushed from across the country to avail this

opportunity. The dates for this workshop were 17 & 18th feb‟2012.

Pursuit Activities :-

More than 25 events were organized as the pursuit activities which were held on the

18th

and 19th

of feb‟2012. The various events under the 5 different departments are

More than 2000 students from across the state and various colleges participated in the

event. The accommodation and food was provided free of cost following the

principles of the college. Making a mark with diverse intellects and challenging

events, the Technical festival proved to be a pool of learning experiences keeping up

to the motto of this event.

“A celebration of Science and Technology!”

BUDGET:

The event of Pursuit-X2 gained a 100% sponsorship with the support of our generous

sponsors.

With Bhavsar Electronics as our main sponsor, we also had with with us Aerotrix,

I3india Technology, TATA Consultancy Services, Satvik Finance, Café Chocolade

(formally known as CAD-B), Poornima Electronics and Gift Palace who made this event

possible with their unconditional support.

The Event of Pursuit-X2 had a total turnover of about 7 lacks, which was highest ever for

our college.

Over all the PURSUIT-X2 was biggest event of this year in our college. The

success of this event was possible due to support of everyone from College, students,

sponsors and also our participants who enjoyed the event to make it a splendid success.

This event got huge support from our Hon. Principal Dr. V N Gohokar and also from our

Chief Coordinators Dr.(Mrs.) V. V. Gohokar and Mr. M. B. Bhambere. It also greatly

benefited from the support of all HODs and all Branch Coordinators who extended their

help throughout the event. Over 200 coordinators gave their precious efforts and time

throughout the period of the event.

For the session 2011-2012, twelve programmes were identified and conducted . All

these programmes were designed as per the needs of the community. The students were

reported from different schools, ITI‟s and Colleges to our institute for the participation in

students were explored with the all technical details along with practical‟s in various

laboratories. No fees were charged for these courses. Snacks and tea arrangement were

also made available free of cost by the institute. The students who have completed the

College has running yoga center under the name of Patanjali from last ten years.

Every year college use to conduct yoga classes for boys and girls separately. Course is so

design that it contains yogic practices for a person of average health. The more focus is

given on the basic principles of yogic practices, time and sequence, combination with

other exercises, and exercises for females.

This year also yoga class has been conducted for B.E. First year boys student

during 14, 15 & 16 March 2012 by Prof. R. M. Kharate in the prayer hall of S.V. Hostel.

From this class 71 students got benefited and learn so many things that are required to

maintain good physical and mental health. Similarly yoga class has been conducted for

girls of B.E. Second to Final years in the prayer hall of S.M.-I Hostel during 12 Sept. to

18 Sept.-2011 by Mrs. S. S. Gachake. From this class total 91 girls got benefited.

Following events were conducted during the session 2011-12 :

1] Aptitude Test & Personal Interview Conduction (19/07/11 & 20/07/11):-

The very first task of newly selected core committee is to add new members from second

year. So aptitude test & personal interviews were conducted on 19/07/11 & 20/07/11

respectively. 14 members were selected out of 113 participants.

2] “Know RTI-A Prerogative Weapon” (09/08/11):-

A very first event of the session 2011-12 was “ Know RTI – A Prerogative Weapon”

for all the years & branches, in which all the details of Right To Information including

the dummy RTI form was provided to the participants. 93 students participated in this

event. It was very effective lecture conducted by the members of ESSA.

3] Expert Lecture On MATLAB (17/08/12):-

Expert lecture of Dhekekar Sir ,Dept of EXTC was arranged on 17th

August for third

year students of EXTC branch. The time duration was of 1.30 hours & total 63 students

attended the lecture.

4] Mock Aptitude Test for TCS Drive (23/08/11):-

Mock Aptitude test was conducted on 23rd

August 2011 for final year students of all

branches. After looking towards the recruitment planning of Tata Consultancy Services

at our campus, ESSA team decided to increase aptitude of the students so that it can help

them during aptitude test of TCS. Total 177 students participated & the test was of 45

mins. containing 60 questions. The first 3 toppers were:

5] One Week Workshop on PCB Design (From 25/08/11 to 15/10/12):-

The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Workshop was one of the most successful

workshops in the history of SSGMCE. The workshop was conducted for one & half

month continuously because of increased entries. Total 115 students of Electronics &

Telecommunication and Electrical Engineering branch participated in this workshop.

Basic Robotics was also taught to the participants.

Workshop was conducted by Prof. P. R. Wankhede & supported by Mr. Pravin

Pande, Mr. Rajat Umrao, Ms. Anuprita Chincholkar, Ms. Dipti Bisen, Ms. Bharti

Tamgadge & Ms. Asawari Ambade of ESSA.

6] FUNSTUFF RELOADED (17/09/11 to 19/09/11) :-

FUNSTUFF is the yearly gaming event organized by ESSA for entertainment of

students by various outdoor games. This year FUNSTUFF was more enjoyable, more

powerful & reloaded. It was a biggest event of SSGMCE this year in which 284

students i.e 71 teams of 4 members each, participated & made this event grand. There

were total 5 games conducted on those three days in Badminton Hall.

7] Guest Lecture by Dr. Madhukantji Patel (21/03/12):-

Guest lecture of Dr. Madhukantji Patel, President of Institute of Electronics &

Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Govt. Of India, Allahabad, Formerly

scientist of ISRO, was organized on 21st March on the topic “Embedded System

Designs” for third year students of EXTC branch.107 students attended the guest

lecture.

8] Guest Lecture by Dr. Shirish Wanjari (22/03/12):-

Guest lecture of Dr. Shirish Wanjari, Associate Professor & Scientist, Dr.

P.D.K.V, Akola, was arranged on 22nd

August for second year students of EXTC

Society Of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is a professional engineering society whose

membership represents practically every engineering and scientific discipline. Its members

combine their specialized abilities to further advance the research, development, design,

manufacturing and utilization of vehicles which operate on land, water, air and space.

The founding principle of the SAE INDIA Student Branch:

To dedicate themselves to the cause of prospering the science and technology for automotive

vehicles & to make contributions to speed up the modernization of automotive industry.

SAEINDIA student‟s chapter at SSGMCE, Shegaon has many sessions of technical activities.

The student chapter is responsible for conducting Robotics Workshop and Automobile Events,

apart from this various seminars and guest lectures are conducted by various eminent

personalities. SAEINDIA Student Chapter of SSGMCE has professional membership of over

100 students from all discipline of engineering. SAEINDIA hopes to keep the momentum going

and will keep on encouraging students to participate in various Robotic and Automobile event

such as Robocon, Baja, Supra SAEINDIA at national level.

The most exaggerating event of this session “Junkyard Wars” was organized on 26-27 sept,

2011 in Mechanical Engineering Department of SSGMCE, Shegaon by Sae India. The event was

based on the theme of creating some useful mechanisms by means of materials available in Junk.

The event was conducted in Three phases viz., a) Aptitude Test, b) Round 1 and c) Round 2.

1. Immaginazione:

The event was held in 2 phases. . In the first round the participants had to basically do

creative writing and they were given a set of different pictures mixed with each other to

help them with their creative writing. The students who got selected in it where then

allowed to participate in the next round i.e. The Debate. The 2nd

phase of Immaginazione

was The Debate which was held in Auditorium.

2. Interview Preparatory Talk: held for the final year students by the alumnus of the college

who were already placed in good companies. The event was mainly conducted by ex-

chairperson of IEEE Students‟ Branch Mr. Pratik Patil. The talk was very helpful to the

final year students.

3. Securena: It was a technical workshop which was held in association with Department of

Computer Science and Engineering. The technical workshop was conducted by C.M.

Mankar Sir and D.R. Dhotre Sir of the CSE department. The workshop had the strength of

50 students.

4. Opening of the IEEE Wall Magazine and the Engineer’s Day Celebration: The much

awaited Wall Magazine was inaugurated by the hands of our Respected Principle Dr. V.N.

Gohokar Sir and by our Faculty Advisor Prof U.A. Rane Sir. In Jajwalya, a very noted

personality Dr. Surendra Gole form VNIT, Nagpur had come to motivate the students of

SSGMCE, Shegaon.

5. Gati-O-Mania: It was an event which was held exclusively for our first year students. This

event was also held in 2 phases. The first phase was the preliminary round in which there

were 2 riddles posted in D-Block for 4 days continuously and the students who texted

maximum correct answers and also in less time were selected for the next round. The next

round of the Gati-O-Mania was fun filled non-technical event which was held on the ground

in front of the library.

6. PicPro: The final event of the academic session 2011-12 was PicPro which was held in the

Cult Fest of SSGMCE, Shegaon called Crimson Fiera. The event was a unique mix of fun

and technology. It consisted of a photo stall where the participants could get their photo

with any kind of pose or on any location in the world which is of their preference. The

participants were charged a minimal fee of 5, 10, 15 or 20 Rupees.

SYNOPSIS TO ISTE

ISTE – Indian Society for Technical Education is an organisation, headquarter at Delhi

and has its student and faculty chapters in technical institute all over the country. This

society basically works to impart and to improve the technical education across the

country.

ISTE students‟ chapter at SSGMCE, Shegaon has many session of

technical activities along with fun filled moments of learning. ISTE has proven to be

instrumental in assuring all round development of the students in college. ISTE students

chapter of SSGMCE has membership of Many students from all discipline of

engineering, ISTE student chapter also encourage and sponsors students for participating

in various events across the India.

ACTIVITY DETAILS

Workshop on “How to make an effective Paper Presentation”

A workshop was organized by the third year students on 27th

July 2011 on the

topic “How to make an effective Paper Presentation. The workshop was a success and it

was organized for the second year students.

MCRD – Online Aptitude test based on TCS

TCS based mock recruitment test was conducted on 19th

August 2011. The paper

consisted of 25 questions spread over two sections: quantitative and reasoning. 3 marks

was given for each correct answer. There was negative marking (1 for each wrong

answer). There was a very good response (235) from the students. The total time allotted

for the test was 30 minutes.

ACUMEN’11

ISTE‟s college level quiz, „ACUMEN‟11‟ was organised for 2nd

, 3rd

and final

year students . It was a 2 day event , on the first day (20th

sept. 2011 ) written test was

conducted with the total participation of 125 students , it was based on general

knowledge based. On the 1st day‟s result eight candidates were selected for „round two‟ ,

held on second day i.e. 21th

sep. 2011 . It was an audio visual quiz round in the

auditorium among the 4 teams (each of 2) selected on the first day result. Total no. Of

students present on 2nd

day was about 150 and conducted with great success.

Electrical Engineering Students Association is a technical society of electrical students

(SSGMCE, Shegaon) the key objective of EESA is to provide a continuous professional

development program to the members of the society it provides a continuous

professional development program for SSGMCE.

Aims And Objectives:

To further the knowledge and awareness in the field of Electricity & Engineering

through the meetings, discussions, Quizzes and like.

To create a spirit of brotherhood & co-operation among the member of the

association.

To develop a leadership and initiative, and to inculcate a sense of responsibility

amongst the members of association.

Introductory Session:

This session was about introduction of our new EESA team to our new members.

The presentation was given on the importance of EESA. Its advantages its activities and

post structure along with the video.

Gaming Event:

This Event was conducted or 2nd

year ELPO to boost up there interest and was

biased on General Knowledge, word games, Technical Questions, one minute show and

etc…All students enjoyed it and very large response was there.

Teachers Day Celebration:

In this event we celebrated a event for lecturers of Electrical Dept. in this event

there were various games for lecturers & we felicitated them by giving them gifts &

bouquet.

Aptitude test:

We conducted a Pre-aptitude test of TCS for all final Year students. To uplift

their skills and to boost u their knowledge to later enjoy the fruit of success in the rest of

there life.

The Department of Business Administration and Research of our college commenced the

academic session 2011 – 12 on 13th June 2011 and the first programme held was the culmination

of its on-going MSME-sponsored 30-days Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme for

educated women with its valedictory ceremony on 29th June 2011. The beginning sparked on a

very high note by being the second institution in Maharashhtra amongst 417 institutions /

departments imparting MBA course in terms of admission after CAP round – IV whereas nearly

50% seats remained vacant in the State during this academic session. The MBA second year

registration and classes started on pre-notified date of 21st July 2012 while for MBA first year it

started as per announced schedule of Director of Technical Education, Mumbai from 8th August

2012 with 54 students on roll at the end of CAP round-I. In the mean time Dr. H. M. Jha

The department recruited a senior person from industry, an ex-

advisor, HR to strengthen its faculty who also started conducting

soft skills development sessions with both years of students. On

research front the department had a very remarkable year this

year as one faculty registered for Ph.D. under departmental

guide making all faculty members of the department either

Ph.D. or registered for Ph.D., award of Ph.D. degree to one

candidate under the department, research grant of Rs. 5 lacs

from AICTE under its RPS, publication of one paper in

international journal and six papers in conference proceedings of

international conferences including those of some of our students as well. Four faculty members

presented papers in international and national conferences and got it published. Dr. H. M. Jha

“Bidyarthi” was nominated on the International Programme Committee of 8th International

Conference on E-Government held at Nirma University, Ahmedabad. Twenty three students

participated in activities in other institutes of the State and outside and six of them published

papers in international conference proceedings. A number of students won prizes at events

organized in our department and elsewhere. This led the department to getting ranked under A-

Grade consecutively for second year by Business India Best B-Schools Survey 2011.

If last year‟s Parishkriti was Zen Mobile Parishkriti,

this year it was Atlas Cycle Parishkriti 2012 where

Atlas Cycles Haryana (Pvt.) Ltd. sponsored the event

with sponsor money of Rs. 60,000. The response this

year was huge by attracting 124 outdie students

participants and expanding the scope of parishkriti

from two-days to three-days, from State level to

National Level and from just ten competitions to

twelve competitions each given a Sanskrit name also depicting the creativity and meticulousness

of our students. An alumnus came forward to sponsoranevent called Business Plan Competition

which also shows the respect that the alumni of the

department are showing for their alma mater. Dr.

Devesh Kumar Sharma, another alumnus who is not

only an MBA from the department but also a Ph.D.

completed under the guidance of the departmental

faculty, was promoted to the post of Vice-President,

Barclays bank, Dubai bringing laurels to the

department. Faculty members have been awarded

incentives for their publication in international

journal and increments for bagging research grant

from AICTE, New Delhi.

MSME Development Institute, Nagpur came forward in

a big way to sponsor four additional programmes

ranging from 5days to 30 days each as part of its MoU

signed with the department for different categories of

participants viz. educated unemployed women, schedule

cast engineering and management students and final

year MBA students to help create entrepreneurial culture

in the department. The placement of students is also

picking up gradually. The academic session is nearing its completion on another high note where

all its successful students at MBA first semester university examination stood in first class – a

first ever achievement of the department – striking a pass percentage of 87% as against the

university average pass percentage of just 47% with one of its students scoring 75% (approx.) in

this exam. A student of 3rd

semester has scored highest marks in marketing management group

which entitles him to receive gold medal award from the university subject to its notification next

year.
