Basic metaphysical issues reveals their importance

for every educational practice. It is crucial thatevery educational program be based upon fact andreality rather than fancy, illusion, or imagination.

Different metaphysical beliefs lead to differing

educational approaches and even separate systemsof education. Teachers' instructional methods willdiffer dramatically, depending on whether they vieweach student as Desmond Morris's "naked ape" or asa child of God. Likewise, discipline will be handled

differently, depending on whether one thinkschildren are essentially good, as was asserted ofRousseau's Emile, or believes their goodness hasbeen radically twisted by the effects of sin.

    The study of epistemology deals

with such issues as thedependability of knowledge andthe validity of sources through

which we gain information.Accordingly, epistemology standswith metaphysicsat the verycenter of the educative process.

Both educational systems andteachers in those systems deal inknowledge; they are engaged in an

    epistemological undertaking.

    Your vision statement is your

inspiration, the framework for all yourstrategic planning.

A vision statement may apply to an

entire company or to a single divisionof that company. Whether for all orpart of an organization, the visionstatement answers the question,

educational goals. Mission statement is a brief description

of a school's fundamental purpose. Itanswers the question, "Why do weexist?"

The mission statement articulates theschool's purpose both for those in the

A mission statement defines in aparagraph or so any entity's reasonfor existence. It embodies its

philosophies, goals, ambitions andmores. Any entity that attempts tooperate without a mission

statement runs the risk ofwandering through the worldwithout having the ability to verify
