Report on UCWLA Day 2013 Around the middle of each year, the UCWLA Executive organise a special day for all members, family and friends. This year we wanted the day to be a happy, fun-filled occasion, with music, trivia and lots of prizes and surprises for everyone to enjoy, so a ‘Friendship Day High Tea’, was arranged for the 30th June 2013. We sincerely thank everyone who came along and brought with them warm hearts and cheerful smiles to brighten an otherwise cold and bleak day. We also thank Fr. Michael Szyjan who joined us on our special day and all who so readily assisted in preparing the hall and cleaning up afterwards. Below is a letter received from two of our satisfied members who we sincerely thank for taking the time to inform us of their appreciation and to encourage us in any future endeavours. We are happy when you are happy! High Tea – Ukrainian Style On the last day of June after the 10.00 am Liturgy, the UCWLA held a ‘Friendship Day’. What an overwhelming sight met members and guests as they entered the Church Hall! The dreariness of the rainy weather outside was soon forgotten. Beautifully decorated tables with fresh spring flowers were everywhere. Scrumptious petite cakes, arranged on tiered cake stands, made mouths water. As modern Ukrainian music played in the background, two members spontaneously started to dance to the beat of the music and encouraged others to join them (that’s before any beverages!). Delicious, appetising food was served - hot homemade pumpkin soup, varenyky with sour cream, mini frittata, an assortment of finger sandwiches, followed by warm cups of tea with lots of tiny cakes. As we sat back and enjoyed the food, the fun games began. While our minds were tested, laughter and comradeship filled the hall. We discovered many interesting facts BUT, most important of all, we now know that NO member of UCWLA wears red lipstick. Great prizes were won and awarded at the end of the day. An amazing day was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to the UCWLA committee for organising such a wonderful, perfect, fun day. If you didn’t come to this function, make sure you’re present at the next one. High Tea – Ukrainian Style

On the last day of June after the 10.00 am Liturgy, the UCWLA held a ‘Friendship Day’. As modern Ukrainian music played in the background, two members spontaneously started to dance to the beat of

the music and encouraged others to join them (that’s before any beverages!).
