REPORT ON SWAMI RAM DEV JIS VISIT TO DPS RANIPUR, HARIDWAR

Delhi Public School, Ranipur, on the morning of 11 November 2014, witnessed the pious event of the

visit of Swami Ramdev ji on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great visionary leader and

educationist, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, also celebrated as Education Day. Ramdev Ji interacted with

the students, teachers and the school administration from 8.30 am 10.30 am and with his

charismatic personality, filled the morning hours with the holy chanting of the Gayatri Mantra and a

discourse on the benefits of simple living and high thinking that left all the teachers, students and

the administrative staff spellbound.

The programme commenced with a choir by the students of class IX and X who presented a

melodious song welcoming Ramdevjis arrival to the school. The school principal Mr. K. C. Pandey

welcomed the revered yoga guru by presenting a bouquet, followed by vice principals

Ms. Namita Johari, Mr. Pavinder Singh Bal, all the head mistresses of the wings Mrs. Uma Pandey,

Mrs. Anjala Kalara, Mrs. Arti Batlla Mrs. Suman Roy, the Administrative staff, the head boy and the

head girl. The head girl Akshita Jha, presented before the spectators, a short biography of Swamiji

to give an insight into Ramdevjis childhood and upbringing. The attraction of the day was Ramdevji

taking the platform and addressing the students and the teachers. Swamijis words of wisdom,

energetic demonstration of yogasanas and moral lessons captivated the young minds and the

teachers alike. Swamiji elaborated on the need to practice Pranayams like Kapalbhati, Anulom Vilom,

Bhramari and and yogasanas like Surya Namaskar on a daily basis and called it a holistic therapy

which helps get rid of various diseases like constipation, headache, diabetes and eyesight problems,

while detoxifying the body in the process. Swamiji also mesmerized the students with his gift of the

gab, child like laughter and his presentation of a vision for disease free and determined Indians.

Swamiji disclosed plans to open 500 schools as part of his vision. He also congratulated DPS

Ranipur presenting itself as a role model for others and for escalating new heights over the years.

On the topic of junk food, Ramdevji emphasized the adverse effects of eating pizza, burgers,

aerated drinks and other refined food items and again applauded Mr. K. C. Pandeys effort for

banning junk food in the school canteen.

Swami Ramdevji also highlighted the importance of values like respecting parents, teachers and the

motherland and energized the students with various chanting and slogans. The whole school, the

presence of this energetic soul, resonated with holy energy and vowed to adhere to Ramdevji words.

The prize winners for various Inter DPS events, CBSE Guru utsav were blessed by the benign hands

of Ramdevji. Among the recipients were Palak Batra of Class VIII who won accolades for her essay in

the CBSE Gurutsav Competition, Aditya Joshi of class VII who won a prize in the CBSE Swachchta

Essay Writing competition and Ayush Sharma and Himanshu Das of class XI who won the first prize

in the Inter DPS Heritage Quiz Competition. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajeev Bhatnagar GM

Logistics BHEL and Pro Vice Chairman DPS Ranipur, extended a warm welcome to Swamiji and

emphasized that there is no one more capable of guiding the young minds towards self confidence

and physical and mental excellence than Swami Ramdev ji. The programme culminated with the

memento presentation to Ramdevji and Mr. Rakesh Kumar from Patanjali yogpeeth. Mr. Yatin Kumar

Sharma, a teacher from Hindi department while presenting a vote of thanks elaborated the great

revolutionarys idea and also called him a great leader who not only developed the love for yoga

among the people of the world and is always ready to sacrifice his life for the cause of humanity.
