The 14th Annual HSE Workshop by Corporate HSE Department was organized on December 16- -Waste
The workshop was attended by around 60 delegates comprising of OICs/WICs, F&S In-charges and Environmental Engineers from the work centers. The workshop was inaugurated by Sh B. C. Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director through Video Conferencing from Mumbai. Shri Prabhat Singh, Director (Marketing) was also present with the CMD through videoconferencing. Shri S. Venkatraman, Director (BD) and Shri M. Ravindran, Director (HR) were present during the Inaugural Session.

Welcome address by GM (HSE) The workshop started with welcome address by Shri S P Garg, GM (HSE). A brief description on major activities carried out by HSE department was given to the attending delegates by GM (HSE). The highlights of the activities by HSE being:
GAIL has achieved overall Safety Index of 99.04 till November, 2013 against the Excellent MoU target of 98.5 with MoPNG.

Preparation of Corporate film on HSE Management of GAIL
Preparation of film on SOPs for Vaghodia
Preparation and updating documents and guidelines for Environment Management System, HSE Management System, Occupational Health Manual and Construction Safety Manual.

Inaugural Address by CMD Chairman and Managing Director Sh. B.C. Tripathi addressed the gathering through video conferencing from Mumbai. He commended the relevance and suitability of E- th HSE Workshop. He highlighted the need for showing equal or greater responsibility towards various dimensions of Health, Safety and Environment I view of growth of the company in size and scale both in India and abroad. He also emphasized the need for determining baseline HSE signature of GAIL and taking steps for improving the same.

Video Film on HSE Management System A video film on HSE Management System at GAIL has been prepared by Corporate HSE Department which was screened for the participants. Documentary on E-waste Management A documentary film -highlighted the status of e-waste management in India. It depicts the real picture of handling of e-waste by the unorganized sectors. CMD Trophy for Best HSE Performance 2012-13 With an objective to motivate the sites to adopt best HSE practices and further improve upon existing performance in the field of HSE, CMD Trophy for Best HSE performance is given to the best performing site. The CMD Trophy has been made more coveted this year with only one award among all of the GAIL sites instead of award being given under different categories in previous years

Technical sessions: Total four technical sessions were conducted during the workshop. Award for Best In-house Presentation given by sites was declared through a committee comprising of Sh. S. P. Garg, GM (HSE), Sh. K. K. Gupta, Advisor (HSE) and Sh. S I Fazzuludin, CM (HSE). Technical Session-I: December 16, 2013 Ist Technical session was chaired by Shri P. K. Gupta, ED (Marketing). This session started with presentation by Dr. R. K. Suri, Director (MoEF) on -
. He highlighted the present status and regulatory requirements of e-waste management in India. An in-house presentation from GAIL Pata was also there during this session. Technical Session-II: December 16, 2013 The second session was chaired by Shri S C hatwal, ED (C&P). This session consisted of in-house presentations from Gas Processing Plants. The F&S In-charges from GAIL Vijaipur, Lakwa, Gandhar, Vaghodia and Usar presented the status of HSE Management at respective sites. The presentations included the highlights and initiatives in the field of HSE at the sites. Case studies of major accidents/incidents were also presented along with the lessons learnt from them. Technical Session-I: December 17, 2013 The first session of the second day was chaired by Shri Narendra Kumar, MD IGL. This session of the workshop had two external presentations followed
by in-house presentations. -
(Environment). -included details of the actual practice being followed for disposal of e-waste. It was a very interactive session as all the participants were enthusiastic to know about the ways and means being followed for e-waste management. In-house presentations were made by respective F&S In-charges of NCR, Vadodara Region, Mumbai Region and Dibiyapur. had an overwhelming interaction between the faculty and the participants. This presentation was also rated as excellent by most of the participants. It was followed by in-house presentations by F&S In-charges of Agartala, KG Basin, Cauvery Basin, Jhabua, Jubilee Tower, JLPL and VSPL. At the end of

Valedictory Session The valedictory session was chaired by Shri S. Venkatraman, Director (BD). The proceedings of the workshop were summed up by Sh K K Gupta, Advisor (HSE). Director (BD) in his address stressed that all Service Departments viz. HR, Finance, and C&P should actively co-operate in management of e-waste. He also stated that Corporate HSE shall deliberate and work out an

GAIL Usar was declared the winner of Best Presentation award. The Award was received by Shri G. Senthil, SM (F&S) from Usar. Director BD asked comments from all the participating delegates. Some of the suggestions are as follows:

The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Shri Arvind Namdeo, CM (HSE). On behalf of Corp- HSE department and on behalf of GM (HSE), he thanked all OICs & F&S heads for their active participation and sharing their experience and making 14th HSE workshop a success.
