An Innovative Method for Easy and RapidDevelopment of Online Experiments toFacilitate Effective STEM EducationPrincipal Investigator: Professor YEUNG Yau Yuen (Professor / Department of Science and Environmental Studies)
Integrating low-cost and open-source hardware and software, this innovation enables the rapid and easy development ofonline experiments with embedded pedagogies to support theeffective teaching and learning of STEM subjects in schools.
Students can readily access and manipulate the Arduino-basedplatform via the Internet to conduct and observe authentic andinnovative experiments on any computing or mobile devices atany time and anywhere using an ordinary Web browser, withoutneeding to install bulky or proprietary plugins.

Novel Air Purifiers Using LED ActivatedGraphitic Carbon Nitride PhotocatalystPrincipal Investigator: Dr HO Wing Kei(Associate Professor / Department of Science and Environmental Studies)
A novel graphitic carbon nitride photocatalyst provides aninnovative approach to environmental purification. Instead ofthe UV light tubes used in traditional photocatalyticenvironmental purification technology, the newly developedphotocatalyst can utilise visible light (daylight or indoor light) asthe light source for photocatalytic reactions.
This breakthrough enables the use of visible light (e.g. LEDlighting) for photocatalysis in air purifiers, which is more energysaving and environmentally friendly than traditional means. Thetechnology developed has a wide range of potential applicationsin air purification and disinfection contexts in daily life.

Exercise Teaching Manual for Childrenwith Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)Principal Investigator: Dr YU Chung Wah(Assistant Professor / Department of Health and Physical Education)
CO- Investigators: Dr CHAN Fung Ying (CUHK) and Dr WONG Wai Lap (HKBU)
This teaching manual describes a new set of game-basedexercises for the physical fitness and mental health training ofchildren with ASD. The exercises and teaching manual weredesigned by a multidisciplinary team (working in pediatrics, physical education and psychology) for children with ASD,according to their respective characteristics, abilities and needs.
The research results indicate that the exercises improvechildren’s physical fitness, ability to follow instructions, concentration span, language use and social skills.
