What is open learning? • Openness can be of different levels. It requires : certain level of

maturity: what I want, when I want, how I want • Open educational resources, not limited• Learning/teaching resources are constantly created, updated and

renewed • Learners are also content creators• It can be customised and tailored to the learner’s needs• Blended learning – the best alternative to traditional or virtual learning.

What challenges does it raise? • Tension between what is open learning and

qualification/quality• Financial: online course is not a cheap aternative• Requires digital, linguistic, self-guidance and self-directed

learning skills • Motivation and maturity of the learner
