INTRODUCTION:

Anantapur District, formed in the Year 1882, has great historic significance. It is one of the

four districts of Rayalaseema,the region named after the emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya of

Tuluva dynasty. Vivid glimpses of the golden past are there in and around Anantapur.

Anantapur District lies between 13'-40' and 15’-15' Northern Latitude and 76'-50' and 78'-30'

Eastern Longitude. It is bounded by Bellary, Kurnool District on the North, Cuddapah and

Kolar Districts of Karnataka on South East and North respectively. The District is roughly

oblong in shape, the longer side running North to South with a portion of Chitradurg

District of Karnataka State intruding into it from west between Kundurpi and Amarapuram

Mandals.

Anantapur is a drought stricken area that led to haunting and miserable poverty. The

people of Anantapur are known for their prowess and amiable nature. But the poverty in the

region has thwarted the ambitions and aspirations of the people to pursue Higher Education.

So the Govt has liberally sanctioned 13 Govt Degree Colleges affiliated to Sri Krishna

Devaraya University, apart from aided and unaided private Colleges in the District.

In addition, 240 students were trained in Accounting Executive Course, which is introduced

by our beloved Commissioner Sri SOMESH KUMAR IAS as a short term and job-oriented

add on course in NJKC, JKCs of Kadiri, Guntakal and in SSBN Degree College, Anantapur .

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES OF NODAL JKC:

BUSINESS LANGUAGE TESTING SERVICE (BULATS):

The BULATS STANDARD TEST was made mandatory for all English language teachers

teaching in degree Colleges of AP which equips them to impart efficient training to the

students and help them to face the BULATS exam. This prestigious Exam was conducted in

this centre on 03/08/08.47 English Language teachers across the Rayalaseema appeared for

the Exam.

The main aim of BULATS ESOL Exam is to assess the skills in areas of listening, reading,

grammar and vocabulary, It is to assess one’s level of language ability .Each Examinee is

given a rating between 1 to 100.Certificates are given to the examinees. Their performance is

scored against the common European frame work of reference. Sensitization classes were

conducted and 38 students were enrolled for the examination.

The ESOL BULATS training has been given to the students free of cost just collecting only

the exam fee. Effective coaching inspired the students .The students were very much satisfied

with the score they secured in ESOL BULATS Exam. Certificates have been issued to the

students by the Principal of the college in order to motivate the other students.

WORK SHOP FOR JKC MENTORS

The mentors in Rayalaseema region selected by CCE were trained in this Nodal JKC in order

to equip them with necessary techniques which in turn helped them impart and sharpen the

compitencies of students to make them employable graduates. 12 Mentors from the JKCs of

Rayalaseema participated in this programme. The services of experts and veteran lecturers of

this college were utilized as resource persons to impart requisite skills to the Mentors. The

this college from 24-08-2008 to 26-08-2008.

Computer literacy in Global village has been considered a curse. So it was felt that acquiring

computer knowledge is imperative. A special programme is designed by our beloved

Commissioner Sri SOMESH KUMAR IAS and conducted with combine efforts of mentors

specially trained for the purpose, to impart computer skills to Junior Lecturers of Govt Junior

Colleges of Anantapur Distinct in the months of NOV & DEC 2008 .Each batch of 45

trainees was trained for a period of 6 days in each month.

JOB MELA

To realize the catchy slogan of the Commissioner of Collegiate Education “Degree

certificate in one hand and appointment order in another hand” a JOB MELA was conducted

in this college on 18-01-09. It is to translate the promise of esteemed Commissioner into

action i.e. Jobs at the door step. Wide publicity was made across 4th Zone to make maximum

attendance of the students.

There was a massive turnout of the students to the JOB MELA across Rayalaseema

accompanied by the Coordinators of respective JKCs.All amenities were arranged with full-

fledged co-operation of

Dr R.David Kumar, CIO & his team, JKCMC, Hyderabad, Principal, mentors, staff and the

media. Many Companies hired the students by conducting screening test, telephonic skills

test, and oral interviews. Large number of students were selected. Some students have been

promised appointment orders in the nearest future. The JOB MELA has been hailed by the

media, the public and the students community. The students community desires for such a

drive in the years to come to rescue them from the agony of unemployment and save them

from the stress and strain of running from pillar to the post.
