RENAISSANCE MANJake Weidmann is writing himself into history books as he pens the preamble of Colorado’s Constitu-tion in handwritten ink for the � rst time since it was machine-printed in 1876. (His work will get a perma-nent home in the new Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center when the building is completed next year.) Englewood’s Weidmann, 27, was commissioned for the job after becom-ing the world’s youngest known Master Penman, an honor for which he learned to perfectly execute 15 scripts—yes, as in pen and paper—from Old English to Spencerian cursive. Beyond that, the self-taught callig-rapher, illustrator, painter, and sculptor is prepping for his public debut as an artist and penman this month.
