Hi, Beal Students and Families!
The schedule below will help you with your daily work. Have fun learning!
Remote Learning Lessons for Grade: Science Grade 4
Week of: 5/4
Tasks: Monday

Questions How old is the Earth?
Activity 1. Watch mystery answering questions as you go.
2. Watch the bonus. Answer questions as you go.
3. Pick any of the different bonus activities. Take photos and post
them to me on Class Dojo.
A. Make a plastic-bottle boat for your bathtub.
B. Make a plastic-bottle planter or a piggy bank.

Questions Could a volcano pop up where you live?
Activity 1. In this Mystery, students explore the past and present pattern
of where volcanoes exist on the earth. In the activity, Mapping
Volcanoes, students plot volcano locations on a world map and
look for patterns. Students analyze these maps to discover that
volcanoes form a “Ring of Fire” around the Pacific Ocean. Watch
mystery and answer questions as you go.
2. This week in science we will start our unit on geology which we’re
calling “The Birth of Rocks.” We will learn about volcanoes and
where they exist in the world. Below I’ve included a link to some
amazing pictures of active volcanoes. Show these to your child;
it’s guaranteed to be a conversation starter about what they
learned!

volcanic-activity/100873/
4. Experiment: Do the experiment taking pictures as you go if you
have the equipment. Follow the mystery with the instructions of
the activity. If you need to improvise please do. You need:
colored pencils, handouts
5. Students can work on their own, but will need to complete all
four parts of the Volcano Map so that they can analyze the
global volcano pattern.
6. You will need enough wall space to display the completed maps.
There will be one map for every 8 students, so a class of 32
students will have 4 completed maps. Each complete map
measures approximately 22” x 17”.
7. Prepare Volcano Discoveries Printouts
8. Cut each Volcano Discoveries printout in half to make two
worksheets. Each student needs a half sheet for the activity.
9. Complete activity with video.
10. Complete assessment Tasks: Wednesday Must Do
Video StemScopes: Content Connections Video-Danxia Landforms. Log onto
StemScopes through the Student Applications. Go to Assignments. Click
on Content Connections Video-Danxia Landforms. Watch video and
pause when it asks you questions and discuss the answers.
Questions How are landforms formed?
Activity 1. Watch video answering questions as you go.
2. Use video to answer questions.
3. When you finish turn in.
These are the review challenge assignments for this week. Go to STEMscopes and
complete the questions on the following assignments. Let's see how many shout outs I
can give this week. Send me a message when you are finished. If you think you have
finished already check to make sure I have not returned anything to you.
1. Reading Science A-The Changing Surface of Earth
2. Multiple Choice Assessment from Rock Patterns use STEMscopedia from Rock
Patterns for a reference.
3. Concept Attainment Quiz from Rock Patterns use STEMscopedia from Rock
Patterns for a reference.
4. STEMscopedia from Rock Patterns.
I have posted a list of websites on the bealelementary.org page. Please choose activities
that your child would like to explore. Please pick an activity from the list to do with
your scientist each day that you don’t do an assignment. Have fun and stay curious.
