DAILY READING: 10-15min Read/view by yourself or read aloud to someone. Then, talk about the story: the characters and what happened.
FIRST READ: levelled text: such as, Take Home Reader; e-book from Reading Eggs/Eggspress Library; or a **Sunshine Online text at your reading level. **Sunshine Online Levels: Levels 6-15 = Learning Space 2-Literacy; Level 16-30 = Learning Space 3– Literacy
THEN READ: ‘choice’ text: such as, picture-book; a chapter of a book; watch a ‘Storyline Online’ read aloud etc.

Term 2 Spelling Words-Week 4 (in Additional Learning Plan Resources Week 1) *Choose activity from Spelling Grid (In
Additional Learning Resources Week 3) *Write the -nt words.
Optional: Now choose 3-5 words to use in sentences or a short story. Weekend Writing: 15-25 min Talk with someone about some of the things you did at home over the weekend. Then write about it (or type it in Word). Aim to write 5 sentences or more.

DAILY NUMBER FLUENCY: 5-10min 1. Counting practice: Use Hundreds Chart sheet or Interactive Splat Square (1-100) on Primary Games website (link at end of plan) to practice counting
aloud: By 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s forwards/backwards, starting/finishing on different numbers. e.g. count 19-51; then 100-50 etc.
e.g. by 10s - 25,35,45,55,65…
2. Number facts: Practice recalling (or writing) addition/subtraction facts, such as: addition to 10 (e.g. 4+6=10, 2+8=10; 1+9=10 etc.)
or addition to 20 (e.g. 14+6=120; 12+8=20; 1+19=20; 7+13=20 etc.); or doubles facts (e.g. 1 + 1 = 2; 2 + 2 = 4 etc.)

Speaking & Listening:
● Talk with a family member about a topic of your choice. Suggestions:
Favourites: e.g. food, a toy, animal, pet, book, show, song, game, activity
etc. OR, explain step-by-step how to do an activity: e.g. make a meal,
brush your teeth, tie your shoelaces etc. OR, Play‘I-Spy’
Phonics & Spelling:

phonics cards we practice at school every morning)
● Boggle Spelling: How many (real) words can you make using only these
letters: E E H T A C R. First write these letters in your book. Then see how
many words you can make e.g. the, cat, he…Write them down.
Give yourself a time limit if you want an extra challenge! (e.g. 2, 5, or 10
minutes). Can you solve what the 7-letter word is?
● Rocket Spelling: (Just like at school!). Choose one word from your Take
Home Reader Word Lists that you find tricky to spell! Next, set a timer
for 2 minutes and write the word as many times as you can in your Home
Learning book in grey lead pencil. How many times did you write it
correctly? See if you can beat this number next time! Extra: write a
sentence using your chosen word.
Reading: Choose an activity from the Reading Activity Grid sheet to complete
about the book you just read.
Writing:
● April Writing Grid sheet: choose an activity to complete
● ‘Free choice’ writing, writing about whatever you like!
● Handwriting practice (tracing the letter sheet from last
week in another colour; or copying it into your work book using the
dotted-third lines to guide you.)
● Write a letter to someone, saying thank you, or that you miss them
● Help mum/dad/nan to write a shopping list
Maths:
● Study Ladder ‘Rapid Recall’ number skills and quick maths game
● Have a go at skip counting by 3s (or 6s, 9s, 4s) … e.g. 3, 6, 9, 12…
counting every 3rd number
● play some board games or card games with a partner
● find a recipe to make
● Use some junk mail catalogues to make a list of things you would like and
add up how much it will cost
● Look at the different clocks around your house/on TV and practice
reading the time OR explore reading a calendar

uninterrupted, in one sitting.
2. Then see if you can beat your time the following day (even if only by a few
seconds!), then the next day, and the next day, and so on…
**CHALLENGE!!! Can you sustain reading for 20 MINUTES?
See if you can slowly build up to 20 mins (or more) over the coming weeks!
