The client develops proprietary Electronic Document Management Systems based on Microsoft’s SharePoint software platform. These systems are used by various agencies across the state to track and store electronic documents.

The proprietary EDM system is currently used by agencies across USA. The agencies needed to transfer files and documents within counties. This process was being managed manually which was very cumbersome. The client needed to automate and simplify this process and required an optimum solution to transfer files electronically.

The client sought the assistance of AllianceTek, an IT solutions and software development company with experience in developing SharePoint solutions – which the original system was based in. After learning of the requirements, AllianceTek decided that there would need to be a desk-top based application as well as a SharePoint component in order to transfer files from one shared SharePoint application to another. The solution also comprised of a complete log of file transfers and automated notifications.

Primarily AllianceTek developed a desktop application to transfer files. After experimenting with various file transfer methods, such as byte transfer and steam transfer, AllianceTek settled on FTP file transfer method. The solution was met with FTP file transfer which enables the transfer of 1 GB files. The application employed different web services and would now transfer files seamlessly as long as the firewall settings are set up appropriately. A new user-friendly interface was developed to help the client’s team quickly acclimate to the new system.

Eventually, upon client’s further requirements a SharePoint based file transfer was also set up. This offered the ability to transferred files seamlessly from one SharePoint application to another SharePoint application.

As a result of working with AllianceTek, the client now has a robust file transfer solution. The solution allowed files of larger sizes to be seamlessly transferred to the selected county locations from their desktop as well as SharePoint application. Finally, the new system facilitated automated notifications upon transferring files and even offered maintenance of file transfer history between the counties. The client is extremely benefitted with this efficient solution as it eliminated the hassles of manual file transfer.
