Getting Set Up – Your PPS number

If you are moving to Ireland to work you will need to register for a PPS number. It is a unique identifier for use in any transactions you may have with public bodies.

To apply:

Identify your local Social Security Office online In the office you will need to show your passport or National Identity Card Proof of Address (Bill, letter etc)

OR Letter from Employer. They will talk you through the necessary steps and get you set up. You will be notified of your PPS Number by the issue of a letter of notification,

sent automatically to the address given on the application form, REG 1. This is your number for tax purposes also.
