Rejoice in Jesus’ birth

Luke1:26-38,46-50

Luke1:28:

“ Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Luke1:30-33:

" Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Luke1:34:

" How will this be since I am a virgin?“

Luke1:35-37:

" The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."

" no, this cannot happen to me. Go and find another person." It is reasonable. We may react like this.

Luke1:38:

" I am the Lord's servant. May your word to me be fulfilled(I am willing to accept whatever He wants)."

• Does she think this happening will make her shamed?

• Absolutely not.

• Does she consider her own benefit from her answer?

• She does not.

Why could she have this reaction?

1.She knows she is the Lord's servant

Matthew1:20-23: " But after he had considered this, an angel of The Lord appeared to

him in a dream and said,' Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.' All this took place to fulfill what The Lord had said through the prophet:' The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel.’—which means God with us."

Why could she have this reaction?

2. Mary's soul glorifies The Lord

3. Mary's spirit rejoices in God her Savior

Luke1:48-49: " For he has been mindful of the humble state of his

servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me."

How can we rejoice in Jesus’ birth?

1. Praise the Lord in everything

Luke1:46-47: And Mary said:" My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit

rejoices in God my Savior."

2. Trust and obey the Lord in everything

1Peter1:8-9: "You love Him, even though you have never seen

Him. And even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with a glorious joy that you cannot explain. Your reward for trusting Him is the salvation of your souls."
