.Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated in Our Lady of
the Sacred Heart Church, 320 West Lynde St. Watertown, on Sunday, April 8th, at 3:00PM. We are encouraged to celebrate the Feast of Mer-cy. Pope Francis declared 2016 the year of Mercy! We are all called to bring home fallen-away Catholics. There couldn't be a better time to INVITE THEM BACK to the church because of the promise Jesus made concerning this devotion. Jesus said "any soul that would go to con-fession & receive communion without a mortal sin, on that feast day, would receive total forgiveness for their sins & punishment". Your soul will be blemish free like it was on the day of your Baptism!!! Jesus said “Let no soul fear to draw near to Me”(in confession) The GREATER THE SIN-NER THE MORE HE IS ENTITLED TO GODS MER-CY!! (NO SIN IS TOO GREAT TO BE FORGIVEN) For more info or questions on Divine Mercy Sunday...Call Judy @315-783-7349, or visit www.thedivinemercy.org
MOTHERS: Don’t be afraid to encourage service in your children. Mothers are often the main influence in a man’s discernment to the priesthood and mothers influence the attitudes of the children toward marriage.

"We should not be surprised at our imperfections as
religious. An oak tree requires many years to reach per-
fection. It is already a big thing that we are conscious of
what we lack. With time we shall arrive. I regard it as a
great blessing that our way is traced out for us and that
we know the road we must follow."

FROM THE DESK OF FR. JONAS
Happy Easter to everybody and every family! May God give you joy; the real Joy is that God has risen and he defeated evil and death. It is a proof that God is stronger than evil. Easter is the feast of life. “the Lord has indeed risen, alleluia.” “Alleluia” – Praise the Lord!” marks all prayers and songs of this festival season. It represents the joy of Christians. The Lord’s death was not a defeat but a victory! And we share in the Lord’s victory over suffering and death, knowing that life everlasting with Christ will be ours. “We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of world to come.” (Profession of Faith). In the first reading from Acts, Peter proclaims a God of surprises. Jesus’ death appeared to have crushed all plans for change for the better: “They put him to death by hanging him on a tree”. Peter, however, imme-diately introduces the element of surprise: “This man raised on the third day……” In raising his Son, the father bypasses all purely human plans and programs. Not subscribing to our human calculations, he raises his Son from the dead. In so doing, he acknowledges himself to be a God of surprises. Easter Sunday proclaims a God of surprises. In the second reading St. Paul brings another surprise to his Colossian community by telling that they too “were raised with Christ.” As a result, they must pur-sue higher things, not purely earthly realities. Instead of feverish human activity, they must lead a new life “hidden with Christ in God.” The sur-prise consist in a state of mind where Christ becomes the measure of their plans and desires. In today’s Gospel, Peter and “the other disciples found the empty tomb, the burial cloths and the head covering had the different reaction and conclusion. Peter enters them empty tombs, seeing the burial cloths , but does not arrive at faith in the risen Jesus. The element of surprise com-pletely eludes him. “the other disciple,” however, experiences a complete-ly different reaction. Upon entering the tomb, “he saw and believed”. This “other disciple” believes that the death on Good Friday is not God’s final word. Rather, he believes that Easter Sunday proclaims a God of surpris-es. May this Easter strengthen our hope of the new life after death. This hope
brings us joy and happiness in looking forward to our future.
I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. (Gen: 28:15

Pope Francis urges us to "...stop and give thanks to God before and after meals. That moment of blessings, however brief, reminds us of our dependence on God for life; it strengthens our feeling of gratitude for the gifts of creation; it acknowledges those who by their labors provide us with these goods; and it reaffirms our solidarity with those in greatest need."
