M: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. C: To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever!

M: This Savior, Jesus, came to free us from sin and win for us a place in his Father’s heavenly kingdom. Through his perfect life and his own innocent suffering and death, he did that, conquering Satan, just as he had promised to do ever since the days of Adam and Eve. Because the Lord has been faithful to his promise and has accomplished his plan of salvation for you and me, we join together this morning to behold once again the glorious sight of our Savior’s resurrection. With joyful hearts we join with the angels and the whole company of heaven to proclaim: C: He is not here! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Confession of Sins M: Dear friends: Because of what our Savior did for us, God now invites us to come into his presence and worship him without fear. In doing so, he also invites us to confess our sins to him, humbling our hearts and acknowledging our absolute need for his forgiveness. Therefore, we approach God in humility and confess our sins to him, asking him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us. C: Lord of life, I confess that I am by nature dead in sin. For faithless worrying and selfish pride,

For sins of habit and sins of choice, For the evil I have done and the good I have failed to do, You should cast me away from your presence forever. O Lord, I am sorry for my sins. Forgive me, for Jesus’ sake.

M: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. In his great mercy, God made us alive in

Christ even when we were dead in our sins. Hear the word of Christ through his called servant: I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son (+) and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen. M: In the peace and joy of this forgiveness, let us praise the Lord, our Savior!

Refrain: This is the feast of victory for our God, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

1. Worthy is Christ, the Lamb, who was slain, Whose blood set us free to be people of God.

Refrain: This is the feast of victory for our God, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

2. Power, riches, wisdom, and strength, And honor, blessing, and glory are his.

Prayer of the Day M: Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ you conquered death and opened the gate to eternal life. Grant that we, who have been raised with him through baptism, may walk in the newness of life and ever rejoice in the hope of sharing his glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit be dominion and praise now and forever. C: Amen. Be Seated First Lesson: Isaiah 25:6-9 On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Hymn Response: Christ the Lord is Risen Today (CW 149)

1. "Christ the Lord is ris'n today." Saints on earth and angels say;

Raise your joys and triumphs high; Sing, O heav'ns, and earth, reply.

3. Vain the stone, the watch, the seal;

Christ has burst the gates of hell. Death in vain forbids his rise; Christ has opened paradise.

5. Soar we now where Christ has led,

Foll'wing our exalted head. Made like him, like him we rise;

Ours the cross, the grave, the skies!

2. Love's redeeming work is done, Fought the fight, the battle won;

Lo, our sun's eclipse is o'er; Lo, he sets in blood no more.

4. Lives again our glorious King!

Where, O death, is now your sting? Once he died our souls to save; Where your victory, O grave?

6. Hail the Lord of earth and heav'n!

Praise to you by both be giv'n! God has now fulfilled his Word;

Praise the resurrected Lord!

Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 15:51-57 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable,

and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Verse of the Day: Alleluia. Alleluia. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia. This is the day the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Alleluia. (Psalm 118:24

Refrain: This is the feast of victory for our God, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

3. Sing with all the people of God, And join in the hymn of all creation.

Refrain: This is the feast of victory for our God, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

4. Blessing, honor, glory and might Be to God and the Lamb forever. Amen.

Gospel Lesson: Luke 24:1-12 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.

When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Confession of Faith The Second Article of the Apostles’ Creed and Martin Luther’s explanation. C: I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. M: What does this mean?

C: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord. He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death. All this he did that I should be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as he has risen from death and lives and rules eternally. This is most certainly true!

Hymn: Christ is Arisen (CW 144)

1. Christ is arisen, From the grave’s dark prison.

We now rejoice with gladness; Christ will end all sadness. Lord, have mercy.

All our hopes were ended, Had Jesus not ascended. From the grave triumphantly, For this, Lord Christ, our thanks shall be.

Lord, have mercy. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

We now rejoice with gladness; Christ will end all sadness. Lord, have mercy.

1. I know that my Redeemer lives; What comfort this sweet sentence gives!

He lives all glorious in the sky; He lives exalted there on high.

M: Work through us as we proclaim the saving message of the crucified and risen Jesus near and far, so that many others may hear your call, obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, and join us before the throne of our God and of the Lamb. C: Alleluia! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Alleluia! Amen. The Sacrament Preface M: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. M: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them up to the Lord. M: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is good and right so to do. M: It is truly good and right that we should at all times and in all places give you thanks, O Lord,

holy Father, almighty and everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who came as the Light of the world so that the world may have light and life through him. Therefore with all the saints on earth and hosts of heaven, we praise your holy name and join their glorious song:

I Know that My Redeemer Lives

3. He lives to bless me with his love; He lives to plead for me above.

He lives, my hungry soul to feed; He lives to help in time of need.

4. He lives to grant me rich supply; He lives to guide me with his eye.

He lives to comfort me when faint; He lives to hear my soul's complaint.

Prayer of Thanksgiving M: Blessed are you, O Lord of heaven and earth. We praise and thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, and we remember the great acts of love through which he has ransomed us from sin, death, and the devil’s power. By his incarnation, he became one with us. By his perfect life, he fulfilled your holy will. By his innocent death, he overcame hell. By his rising from the grave, he opened heaven. Invited by your grace and instructed by your Word, we approach your table with repentant and joyful hearts. Strengthen us through Christ’s body and blood, and preserve us in the true faith until we feast with him and all his ransomed people in glory everlasting. C: Amen.

Lord’s Prayer

C: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on

earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we

forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Words of Institution

M: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

C: Amen.

I Know that My Redeemer Lives (Sung by Ashley Gunderson)

5. He lives to silence all my fears; He lives to wipe away my tears.

He lives to calm my troubled heart; He lives all blessings to impart.

6. He lives my kind, wise, heav'nly friend; He lives and loves me to the end.

He lives, and while he lives I'll sing; He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King

Communion Service In the Lord’s Supper, our Savior offers unworthy sinners a personal pledge of forgiveness of sins through his body and blood. As he draws repentant sinners to himself, he also draws them into a special bond of fellowship with one another. In the WELS, we demonstrate this special fellowship bond in what is called “close communion.” Thus, if you have never communed with us before, we ask that you first speak with our pastor. He will share with you the steps toward establishing communion fellowship. Thank you for respecting our practice.
