The Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults provides

individual quality services thanks to donors who respond to our

mailings and special events. The Annual Spring Luncheon raises

funds and friends to support our programs.

Kudos to Chairman Carrie Murray and Co -Chairman Crista Ryan

who made the May 2012 Spring Luncheon a success. They are

pictured with Dominic Camus in blue surrounded by his friends Day

Stanchi, Boedy Hatcher, Michael Wood and Charlie Trujillo.

Dominic lives in Lake Worth with his mother and gets to spend a lot

of time with his grandparents. He has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy

resulting in weakness and coordination difficulties in his right arm

and leg. He has received therapy at the Rehabilitation Center for

Children and Adults since age 9 months. When he graduates in July

he will have been in our preschool for two and a half years. He will be

attending a regular kindergarten in August. In Physical Therapy,

Susan Holmes reports he is now able to wear a smaller orthotic on his

right foot and work on negotiating architectural

barriers in the community. His balance and strength

have improved so he can run, jump and climb on the

playground. Occupational Therapist Donna

Holmstock notes he is learning to be independent

using scissors and writing his name. Preschool and

Speech -Language Pathology Director Leslie Kelly

describes Dominic as an active participant in

learning activities with a great sense of humor. He is

first to remember visitor’s names and what kind of

car they drive.

Contributors to the Spring Luncheon include past

Chairwomen Christine Aylward, Nellie Benoit,

Trish Donnelley, Paget Ferrell, Denise Hanley,

Susan Kirkpatrick, Pam Mettler, Aileen

Newquist, Julie Reveley, Sue Strickland and

Joanie Van der Grift.

Committee members include Khooshe Aiken, Lucy

Anthony, Tori Baker, Tina Berman, Lisa Bertles, Ann

Blades, Carol Collins, Leigh Failing, Mary Harper,

Linda Hunt, Laura Johnston, Karyn Lamb, Roshan

Massoumi, Lynn McKenna, Boo Oelsner, Mary Pressly,

Kim Raich, Linda Salandra -Dweck, and Patt Sned.

Gunster, Attorneys at Law, represented by Dan Hanley,

was the sponsor for this event.
