Vicki Cilento of Newport News recently won a quilt raffle conducted by the Friends of the Northumberland Library.

She purchased the winning ticket at the Reedville antique boat parade while visiting a friend last summer. “I have two granddaughters,” Cilento said upon learning of her good fortune. “They are going to get a beautiful quilt.”

Summer visitor wins quilt raffle

Quilt designer Nancy Brannon picked the winning ticket for the Friends of the Northum-berland Library quilt raffle.

The drawing for the quilt took place at a recent wine and cheese party at the library. The party honored the hard work of the “Ladies of the Night,” the volunteers who made the quilt designed by Nancy Brannon.

Friends vice president Lien Groenwold headed the raffle drive which included sales at farmers’ markets and other community events from May to October.
