General Instruction:-

First of All let me tell you one thing that System Registry is the Heart ofyour System.Read Each and Every line of this book carefully.To Open Registry Editor:-Go to start menuClick on RunType regedit without quotes. And click on OKThe Registry Editor will open.

If Run doesnt appear on your computer than go to C:\Windows and locate

for file regedit.File it seems like this in C: Windows folder.

Before you edit the registry, export the keys in the registry that you plan toedit, or back up the whole registry. If a problem occurs, you can then followthe steps how-to restore the registry to its previous state.

How to Export/Backup Registry Keys:-Click Start, and then click Run.In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

On the File menu, click Export.In the Save in box, select the boxs at the bottom the bottom according toweather you want to export all or only selected branches of the registry.

Next select a location in which to save the backup .reg file. In the File namebox, type a file name, and then click Save.How to Restore the Registry:-To restore registry keys that you exported, double-click the .reg file that yousaved.

1. Automatically Turn On Num Lock, Scroll Lock,and Caps Lock!

When you start your PC, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, and Caps Lock don'tautomatically toggle on. You can automatically turn each of them on or offwhenever your PC starts, for all accounts on the PC. As a practical matter,most people probably want to have only Num Lock automatically turned on,

but this Registry hack gives you the power to force any combination of keyson or off. Run the Registry Editor and go to:-

HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.

Find the String value InitialKeyboardIndicators. By default, it is set to 0,which means that Num Lock, Scroll Lock, and Caps Lock are all turned off.

Set it to any of the following values, depending on the combination of keysyou want turned on or off:

0 Turns off Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock

1 Turns on Caps Lock

2 Turns on Num Lock

3 Turns on Caps Lock and Num Lock

4 Turns on Scroll Lock

5 Turns on Caps Lock and Scroll Lock

6 Turns on Num Lock and Scroll Lock

7 Turns on Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll LockExit the Registry. When you restart, the new setting will take effect.

2. Reducing Start and shutdown Wait Time for

XP Speedup!When you start to shut down Windows XP, it has to quit, or "kill," any live

applications or processes that are currently running. So close all applicationsfirst. However, some applications and processes are always running in the

background. You can reduce the amount of time that Windows XP waits forthose applications and processes to close before Windows XP kills them.Edit three different Registry settings to change this:

1. Open the Registry Editor. (Clickstart click run and type regedit)

2. Navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.(1) Double click on WaitToKillAppTimeout and set the Value data to1000.(2) Double Click on HungAppTimeout value and set the Value data to1000 as well.Picture 1

4. Navigate to :-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop.(1) Double click on WaitToKillAppTimeout and set the Value data to1000.

3.Automatically Killing Tasks on Shutdown!You know the drill. You start to shut down the computer, you wait a fewmoments, and then you see a dialog box asking if you want to kill anapplication or service that is running. Instead of prompting you, you canmake Windows XP take care of the kill task automatically. Here's how:

1. Open the Registry Editor. (click start click run and type regedit)

2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.

3. Highlight the value AutoEndTasks and change the value to 1.

4. Close the Registry Editor.

5. Restart your PC to take Effect.

4.Menu Speed!When XP first appeared, there was a lot of conversation about the newinterface, both good and bad. In spite of the initial complaints, most usersstick with the default settings rather than reverting to the Classic interfacefound in previous Windows versions. But you might want to change thedelay you notice when you click the Start menu. I see no reason for there to

be any delay when I click the Start menu. Effects are pretty, but I wouldn'tclick it if I didn't have business inside, so let's get it open and get moving.The default speed can be adjusted with a quick Registry hack.

1. Open the Registry Editor. (Click start click run and type regedit.)

2.Navigate:-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay.

The default value is 400. Set it to 0 to remove the delay completely, but ifyou do that it will be nearly impossible to move the mouse fast enoughnot to activate All Programs if you mouse over it enroute to your finalselection. Pick a number that suits your style, make the change, and thentest it until you find a good compromise between speed and usability.

5. IMPROVE SWAPFILE PERFORMANCEIf you have more than 256MB of RAM this tweak will considerably improve

your performance. It basically makes sure that your PC uses every last dropof memory (faster than swap file) before it starts using the swap file.

1. Go to Start then Run

2. Type msconfig.exe then ok.

3. Click on the System.ini tab.

4. Expand the 386enh tab by clicking on the plus sign.

5. Click on new then in the blank box.TypeConservativeSwapfileUsage=1

6. Click OK

6.Place Windows Kernel into RAM!It's a given that anything that runs in RAM will be faster than an item thathas to access the hard drive and virtual memory. Rather than have the kernelthat is the foundation of XP using the slower Paging Executive functions,use this hack to create and set the DisablePagingExecutive DWORD to avalue of 1.

Perform this hack only if the system has 256MB or more of installed RAM!Edit the Registry key:-

(set the value to 0 to undo this hack). Exit the Registry and reboot.1. Open the Registry Editor. (Clickstart click run and type regedit)

2. Navigate toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement3. Set the Value data to 1 to DisablePagingExecutive and have the kernel runin RAM.4. Close the Registry Editor.5. Restart your PC to take Effect.

7.Speed Up Shutdown Times!It's not only startup times that you'd like to speed up; you can also make surethat your system shuts down faster. If shutting down XP takes what seems to

be an inordinate amount of time, here are a couple of steps you can take tospeed up the shutdown process:

Don't have XP clear your paging file at shutdown For security reasons, you

can have XP clear your paging file (pagefile.sys) of its contents wheneveryou shut down. Your paging file is used to store temporary files and data,

but when your system shuts down, information stays in the file. Some people prefer to have the paging file cleared at shutdown, because sensitive

information such as unencrypted passwords sometimes ends up in the file.However, clearing the paging file can slow shutdown times significantly, soif extreme security isn't a high priority, you might not want to clear it. Toshut down XP without clearing your paging file, run the Registry Editor andgo to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Memory ManagementChange the value ofClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0. Close the Registry and

restart your computer. Whenever you turn off XP from now on, the paging

file won't be cleared, and you should be able to shut down more quickly.

8. Enable Quicker Startups with a Boot Defragment!There's another way to speed up XP startup: make your system do a bootdefragment, which will put all the boot files next to one another on your harddisk. When boot files are in close proximity to one another, your system willstart faster.On most systems, boot defragment should be enabled by default, but it maynot be on yours, or it may have been changed inadvertently. To make surethat boot defragment is enabled on your system, run the Registry Editor and

go to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunctionEdit the Enable string value to Y if it is not already set to Y. Exit the

Registry and reboot. The next time you reboot, you'll do a boot defragment.

9. Create One-Click Shutdown and Reboot Shortcuts!

Turning off or rebooting XP involves a several-step process: click the Startmenu, choose Shut Down, and then select Shut Down or Restart. If youwant, however, you can exit or reboot much more quickly, by creating ashortcut that enables one-click shutdowns. You can also use the shortcut to

customize the shutdown or rebootfor example, by displaying a specificmessage or automatically shutting down any programs that are running.

First, create a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking on the desktop,choosing New, and then choosing Shortcut. The Create Shortcut Wizardappears. In the box asking for the location of the shortcut, type shutdown.After you create the shortcut, double-clicking on it will shut down your PC.

But you can do much more with a shutdown shortcut than merely shut downyour PC. You can add any combination of several switches to do extra duty,like this:shutdown -r -t 01 -c "Rebooting your PC"Double-clicking on that shortcut will reboot your PC after a one-second

delay and display the message "Rebooting your PC." The shutdowncommand includes a variety of switches you can use to customize it. Table1-3 lists all of them and describes their use.

I use this technique to create two shutdown shortcuts on my desktoponefor turning off my PC, and one for rebooting. Here are the ones I use:shutdown -s -t 03 -c "See you later!"shutdown -r -t 03 -c "You can't get rid of me that quickly!"Table Switches you can use with shutdown Switch What it does

-s Shuts down the PC.

-l Logs off the current user.

-t nn Indicates the duration of delay, in seconds,

before performing the action.-c "messagetext" Displays a message in the System Shutdown

window. A maximum of 127 characters can be

used. The message must be enclosed in

quotation marks.

-f Forces any running applications to shut down.

-r Reboots the PC.

10. AUTO DELETE TEMPORARY FOLDER!

To do this HackClick on start and type gpedit.msc in Run command and press enter.Or go to command prompt and type gpedit.msc.

Now Negivate:-

ComputerConfiguration/AdministrativeTemplates/WindowsComponents/TerminalServices/TemporaryFolder

Then right click on

"Do Not Delete Temp Folder upon Exit"

Go to properties and select disable. Apply and Ok.

Now next time Windows puts a temp file in that folder it will automatically

delete it when its done!

11. SPEED UP BOOT BY DISABLING UNUSED PORTS!

You may have tried many tweaks like modifying windowsXP start-upapplications, prefetches, unload DLLs method,etc. And yes those methodsdo work for me.I have just accidentally found out another way to give you an extra boost inwindowsXP's boot performance. This is done by disabling your unuseddevices in Device Manager. for example, if you don't have input devices that

are connected to one of your USBs or COM ports, disabling them will giveyou an extra perfromance boost in booting.Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab -> device manager Disabledevices that you don't use for your PC and then restart.

Do Dis !!1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).2. Locate the following key in the registry:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement\PrefetchParameters3. Make sure you backup the keys by exporting them to a .reg file.4. On the EnablePrefetcher value, change the setting from 3 to 5 (decimal).5. Close the registry editor.

6. Restart your computer.

12. Disabling Recent Documents History!

Windows XP includes a feature that keeps track of all recent documents youhave opened or used. The idea is that you can select Start/Recent DocumentsHistory and quickly reopen any document you have recently used. I usemany documents each day and never use the feature myself. In my opinion, Ican keep up with what I want to use without Windows XP doing it forme.The bad thing about Recent Documents History is that Windows XP has

to calculate what should be put there each time you boot Windows, whichcan slow things down. So, if you never use the Recent ocuments History, it'sa good idea to disable it. Here's how:1. Open the Registry Editor (select Start/Run, type regedit, and click OK).

2. Navigate to :-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mcrosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.3. Create a NoRecentDocsHistory D_WORD key. Double-click the value toopen it once it is created.4. Set the Data Value to 1 to enable the restriction.5. Click OK and close the Registry Editor. You'll need to restart thecomputer for the change to take effect.

If you dont want any home page and fast start up internet explorer. Than dothis hack.1. Right-click on any shortcut you have to IE You should create a shortcutout of your desktop IE icon, and delete the original icon.2. Click Properties3. 1. Right-click an empty spot on your desktop and then click Properties.

2. Click the Screen Saver tab.

3. In the Screen saver list, click My Pictures Slideshow.

4. Click Settings to make any adjustments, such as how often the picturesshould change, what size they should be, and whether you'll use transitioneffects between pictures, and then click OK.

Now your screen saver is a random display of the pictures taken from yourMy Pictures folder.

First you need a tool called "Resource Hacker". This free program allows

you to change resources in any .exe file such as "Explorer.exe", whichincludes the [Start] button's Label. You can visit Download.com and searchthere for "Resource Hacker". Or search on Google.comAfter you download it, follow the guide here:

Step 1:A- Run "Resource Hacker" and open the file "%windir%\Explorer.exe".B- You see a Tree of all Resources in this file, expand the "String Table"C- Find the "start" and replace it with your own text. Then press the

[Compile Script] button.D- Save "Explorer.exe" as "MyStart.exe" DONT save it as Explorer.exe, do

"save as" and give it a new name.E- Quit "Resource Hacker".

Step 2:A - Click on the [Start] button and choose the "Run..." item from the startmenu. (Or use the shortcut key WinKey+R)B - Type "RegEdit" in the Run "Dialog Box". And then press the [Ok] butonto run the "Registry Editor" program.

C - Go to:"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" and find the "Shell" property.D - Replace value of the "Shell" property to "MyStart.exe".E - Quit "Registry Editor".

F - Restart your system.

Do this hack very seriously step by step otherwise your system may not runproperly.

It can be used to control or restrict access to each and every folder and option

It has the power to even restrict access to individual folders,files, the Control Panel, MS DOS, the drives available etc. Sometimes this software doesmake life really hard for a Hacker. So how can we remove the restrictions imposed by thePolicy Editor? Well read ahead to learn more.You see the Policy Editor is not the onlyway to restrict a user's activities. As we already know that the Policy Editor edits theWindows Registry(user.dat) file to impose such restrictions. So this in turn would meanthat we can directly make changes to the Windows Registry using a .reg file or directly toremove or add restrictions.

Launch Regedit and go to the following Registry Key:
