Australians choose to live in a range of communities – from large cities to small country towns. Building regional resilience is important to maintaining our way of life. Access to safe fresh water, sanitation and hygiene services are necessary to achieving this. With the risk of climate change and extreme weather events, the challenge of water security to our varied communities has never been greater. Integrated Water Management is an approach the water industry can apply to improve water security, thereby enhancing regional resilience.
this year’s theme ‘Regional Resilience’ asks competitors to look into their own cities, towns or communities to solve this problem. You and your team have been selected on a committee to form a 50-year action plan to ensure water security of your region, specifically in times of extreme conditions including droughts and flooding rains. Given the frequency and impact of such events in your region, what key changes to policies, management or cost-effective technology will your team recommend?
for details on how to enter and the judging criteria visit www.awa.asn.au/qwater17Successful teams and individuals invited to the final round will pitch their idea at the 2017 QWater event, which will be assessed by leading water industry leaders.
Entries close 5pm, friday 13 october 2017 (aESt)
