Key Points• Registration is an online process

The Online Registration Process

(10 steps)

• Steps 1-9

You will need to check your personal details and give a term-time address.

• Step 10 is Payment of Tuition Fees.

Payment of Tuition Fees • You should aim to do this online

• If you get stuck telephone Registration Helpline 0161 275 2350

• If you really need to see somebody go to Whitworth Hall according to the Registration timetable.

Hall by• Cheque – payable to “The University of Manchester”• Travellers cheques (sterling only)• Bankers Draft• Cash (for security reasons we don’t recommend this)

Note – We cannot accept American Express Cards

Payment Online

• The 1st instalment (3 instalments maximum) is due at Registration, to be paid by debit /credit card.

• You can pay in full or set up a Direct Debit plan to pay your remaining 2 instalments.

• You then need to attend a swipe card collection venue to have your photograph taken and collect your card

Instalment Plans

Paying in 3 Instalments• Three equal instalments for all students

• The money must be in your account by the close of business the working day before – £25 fee for late payments

• Late payment levy rises to £50 after 28 days if payment not made.

Banks• To set up a Direct Debit for the remainder of

your tuition fees you MUST have a UK bank account details.

• Major High-Street banks on Campus(see Crucial Guide p23 for contact details)

• Some banks available at Registration in Whitworth Hall.

• Some banks allow you to apply online• Open a bank account as soon as possible

Opening a Bank Account• You will need

– Passport– Offer Letter sent to home address– Confirmation of UK address

• You should be able to get your account number and sort code within a couple of days (you cannot set up a Direct Debit to pay in instalments without these).

Swipe Card Collection

New international students can only get their swipe card when they have had their passport and visa or passport and UK ID (ICFN) card scanned.

CENTRAL VENUES• George Kenyon cluster (18 - 30 September - Monday to Friday

9.15am to 5pm and Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 10am to 4pm)

• Joule Library (Sackville Street, Main Building, Floor E), 18 – 30 September 9.15am - 5pm, except Sunday 20 September 1pm to 6pm.

• Students from the School of Mechanical, Aeronautical and Civil Engineering (MACE) only: George Begg Building, Room B8; times to be advised to relevant students.

• Students from the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering only: Sackville Street Building, Room B23, times to be advised to relevant students.

• Hulme Hall (Seminar Room) (17 – 21 September; 9.15am - 5pm weekdays and 10am to 4pm at weekends.)

• Dalton Ellis (Library) (17 – 20 September; 9.15am - 5pm weekdays and 10am to 4pm at weekends.)

Late Registration Charge

The University will impose a £50 late registration fee on students registering after 30th September.

Debts

•Students who owe money to the University cannot re-register, or graduate.

•Budgeting is essential
