(WELL) Wellness (ART) Arts & Enrichment (COMM) Community (TECH) Career and Technology (Must be 16 years of age to sign up and attend any of the classes)

1. Fit at 50+ (WELL) As we age our bodies develop various limitations which affect our daily life. This class will help you become stronger, fitter and more flexible. It is not a competitive atmosphere but is a place to be encouraged to increase our physical abilities to give us a better quality of life. Supplies: You will need an exercise mat and a set of light weights (1-3# works well for most people). Tuesdays & Thursdays: March 19, 21, 26, 28, April 2, 9, 11, 18, 23, 25, 30, May 2, 7, 9, 14, 16; Time: 5:15PM-6:00PM; Cost $64(16 sessions); Location: Longfellow Gym; Instructor: Karen Hamilton

2. Aqua Fit and Tone -Tuesdays (WELL) Want a fun way to enhance cardiovascular fitness and muscle endurance and burn calories while exercising in the water? Aqua Fitness is a blend of cardio, strengthening, muscle endurance, and resistance training that is low-impact and easier on your joints. While in the pool, participants will perform a range of easy to learn steps. We may use such tools as pool noodles, kickboards, etc which will be provided. No matter what your age, ability, or experience – this water workout is suitable for everyone!! No swimming experience is required –you just need to be willing to get wet and move to the music! Participants may use water shoes for better traction on pool floor. Want to reach new levels of fitness and have a blast? Come join us! Zumba® (WELL) Zumba® is a Latin, dance-based cardio class that includes a warm-up, workout and cool-down/stretch. The goal of the class is to have fun and dance while blasting calories. Join the fun and get your cardio on! Supplies to bring: water and cross-trainers. Mondays: March 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 29, May 6, 13 Time: 6:30PM-7:30PM; Cost $32(8 sessions); Location: Central Campus Basement Gymnasium; Instructor: Janae Ronning

5. Wheel Thrown Pottery (ART) Designed for beginners or more advanced students, this class covers the basics and explores more advanced concepts of wheel throwing clay! Create your own cups, bowls, mugs, and more! Class consists of 4 sessions: 3 nights you will make pottery on the wheel, and the final night you will glaze your pieces! **Supply fee of $30 included in the class total. Mondays: March 18, 25, April 1, and 15; Time: 6:30PM-8:30PM; Cost $90.00*(4 sessions); Location: Magic City Campus-Art Department; Instructor: Matthew Swenson; *Cost of supplies included. 6. DSLR Photography (ART) Canon or Nikon! Designed for beginners or more advanced students, this fast paced, hands-on class covers the basics of DSLR operation, as well as more advanced concepts! Learn through a hands-on approach to shoot in different modes and lighting situations, capture moving subjects, compose images using popular techniques, and more! Both nights will involve lessons indoors as well as outdoors! Monday/Tuesday: April 29 and 30; Time: 6:30PM-8:30PM; Cost $30(2 Sessions): Location: Magic City Campus-Art Department; Instructor: Matthew Swenson  7. Silversmithing I (ART) Learn the basics of working in silver to create a band ring. In this first class, you will learn how to measure and cut the metal to make your ring the right size, filing, shaping, filing, soldering, more filing, polishing, and if necessary, a little more filing! Most tools are available locally at low cost, some may be shared, and some will be available for purchase from the instructor. The goal of the class is to let you see how you can set up a workshop at low cost in your home, and enjoy making sterling jewelry for friends and family, and for sale. Mondays: April 8, 15, 29, May 6; Time: 6:30PM-9:00PM; Cost $80.00(4 sessions and Supply Fee); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Robin Ferrer; Cost of metal included in price. 8. Silversmithing II (ART) This class will focus on using a jeweler’s saw to cut designs in copper, brass or sterling silver, and soldering onto a base to make a pendant with a simple bail. Cutting techniques, filing and polishing will be emphasized, and will prepare for Silversmithing III, setting a stone. Includes learning the process of soldering (sweat soldering/tinning). Tuesdays: April 9, 16, 30, May 7; Time: 6:30PM-9:00PM; Cost $80.00(4 Sessions and Supply Fee); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Robin Ferrer; Cost of metal included in price. 9. Rosemaling (ART) Learn this beautiful Scandinavian painting technique under the guidance of a seasoned artist. This class is designed for the beginning painter and the experienced painter. The special project will use a Telemark Design on a Wooden Handled Tray. Payment for the Wooden Tray will be paid first night of class to instructor. Supply list given first night of class. Tuesdays: March 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16, 30; Time: 6:30PM-9:30PM; Cost $75.00(6 Sessions and Supply Fee/Supplies); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Joan Varty 10. Computer Workshop (TECH) Introductory course for those who have very little or no exposure to computers. Learn to navigate the computer, use the mouse, and understand basic computer terminology. Emphasis will be on word processing and internet basics. Monday/Wednesday: April 1 and 3; Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $50.00( 2 Sessions); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson

11. Microsoft® Word (TECH) Create a professional document using many word processing features. Learn about spell check, copy and paste, adding pictures and images, and correcting errors. You will also learn how to bold and underline items, use and adjust page margins, and develop paragraphs. Lastly, you will learn about saving and printing your work. Word processing is an important part in understanding other software programs. Friday: April 5; Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $25.00( 1 Session); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 12. Excel® Basics for Beginners (TECH) This is an introduction class to learn the basics of Excel® spreadsheets. This is the first of three classes taught to help students learn how to develop spreadsheets. This class is targeted to those with little to no experience in using Excel®. Monday: April 8; Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $25.00( 1 Session); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 13. Excel® Level 1 (TECH) Welcome to the next level of Excel®. In this class we will be exploring the elements of a spreadsheet. We will create a spreadsheet from scratch and learn how to perform some calculations within. Some of the functions used in this class will be: Formulas, Profits and Loss Statements, and Inventory worksheets. Wednesday/Friday: April 10 and 12; Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $50.00( 2 Sessions); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 14. Excel® Level 2 (TECH) This class is intended for those with previous training and knowledge in Excel® or have completed the two previous classes offered. We will be enhancing your productivity in the Excel® program. You will be given projects to complete in the class with the help of an instructor. Some of the lessons will include: Calculating Costs, Statistics, Averages, Sort and Filter Data, Charts, Templates, Macros, Mail Merging.  Monday/Wednesday: April 15 and 17; Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $50.00(2 Sessions); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 15. Windows® Beyond the Basics (TECH) In this class, we will go beyond basic computer skills and dive deep into the following: personalizing your desktop, downloading and organizing your photos into folders, developing your word processing skills, utilizing storage devices, and saving and backing up your data. With this class you will be more confident with your computer skills, organizational skills, and using external saving devices. Supplies: Bring a Flashdrive Tuesday: April 23; Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $25.00(1 Session); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 16. Powerpoint® (TECH) Powerpoint® is a user friendly Microsoft® office program with many features! Powerpoint® is highly customizable and can be used for personal, academic, and business environments. In this class we will learn to create a presentation including but not limited to adding and editing photos, inserting captions, and customizing slides. Get ready to step up your presentation game with this class! 17. iPad* (TECH) Learn how to effectively use the functions and applications that the iPad offers. This class will cover the many features of the iPad like the following: touch and slide controls, iPad settings, calendars, notes, photos and camera, email, how to add contacts, Facetime, Internet , and much more. Learn similarities between iPad and iPhone and how they work similarly. *Please note: Several versions of iPad and iPhone are available. Screen displays and instructions may vary accordingly. Supplies: iPad not necessary but recommended. Monday/Wednesday: May 13 and 15; Time: Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $50.00(2 Sessions); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 18. Shutterfly (TECH) Do you have lots of pictures and nowhere to display them? Pictures books are a great way to organize and gift special memories using pictures that have been hidden away in storage on your phone or computer. With this class, you will learn the basics of Shutterfly by using their SIMPLE PLAN which helps you easily put together a Shutterfly picture book. For those of you that like creating your own work of art, we will be able to rearrange and customize your books too! Let's create some fun together! Publisher® (TECH) Microsoft® Publisher® is a creative program that you can use to design different materials for print. In this program, you can use pre-designed features to customize your own newsletters, brochures, flyers, banners, greeting cards, business cards, calendars, and much more! This program is fun to use when making projects and adding your own flair! This is a user friendly program. Wednesday/Friday: May 29 and 31; Time: Time: 12:30PM-3:30PM; Cost $50.00(2 Sessions); Location: Minot Adult Learning Center; Instructor: Judy Nelson 20. Alzheimer's Association: Healthy Living for your Brain and Body (COMM) This program is designed to provide current research and practical information on ways to help you age well. The program is intended for individuals of any age who are looking for information on ways to age as well as possible. This Program is presented by the MN ND Alzheimer's Association-Jodi Keller, Regional Care Consultant.
