PREFACE

THE PRINCIPAL First, I would like to thanks to Almighty God for his blessing and mercy among us. I’d like to give appreciation and congratulation for the accomplishment of this forth issue. I am personally very proud of the creativity of Maritime Higher Education Institute (STIP) cadets which is proved in this magazine. This magazine shows that our institution not only focuses on how to improve the quality in term of education but also how to increase the creativity and capability for making English literature. Hopefully this magazine will be our main media for introducing STIP to the outside people. I fully support this magazine program to continue and develop.

Principal of Maritime Higher Education Institute

Capt. Arifin Sunardjo, MBA. M.Hum

REGIMENT COMMANDER BATCH 54 As the regiment commander, I personally congratulate for the accomplishment of the forth issue magazine. Especially for the English committee and the team working hard until it’s released. We know that English is global primary language; it is being used on various aspects, especially in our future job field both on board and port. Hopefully, the STREAM magazine will improve the cadet’s awareness on how important English is. I would like to say that I fully support this program to increasingly develop later on.

Regiment Commander

Alexander Machlon Lumowa 11.6321/N

ENGLISH COMMITTEE AND THE TEAMAt first, we praise the gratitude to the Almighty God so that we could have finished the STREAM 4th Edition successfully and completely. Occasionally, this edition shows the actual cadet’s activities inside and outside the campus. However, we try to disseminate the STIP profile to the reader. Therefore, we provide stories of our profile section in this edition. We don’t forget also to maintain the reader’s maritime knowledge, in particular, for all the cadets. At last but not least, we highly expect for this edition to be a source of useful information and a place for the cadets to improve their capabilities.

In order to celebrate its birthday, BPSDM invited 3 PTK under the auspices of the Ministry of Transportation, they are: STIP, STPI and STTD to send a delegation from each institutes. This three institutes are invited to join social event in the area around Ciwidey, Bandung. In this social activity the three institutes gathered in BPSDM to transport all the goods to be donated and distributed uniforms for the participants. In this Social Activity the whole cadets and female cadets distributed clothes donated by BPSDM, and sharing the goods donated from BPSDM.

The whole cadets and female cadets departed from campus to Ciwidey using private buses from each campus. Once arrived, all participants create a gathering place on the sand field, then they are formed some teams. Once formed, these teams are spreaded and reunited with PTK integration format. The team then splited up again to ride the jeeps because the terrain is too steep and rough pursued. As a result of the terrain, it needs a long time. Then the team gathered in the field in one of the villages to prepare for tomorrow’s social activities and rest for the next day.

The second day began by forming the teams into four groups according to the four villages that will be visited. In the group, the interviewees came to a village called Barussel in Ciwidey, West Java. Before the groups go to the villages, they held a welcoming event. The activity begins with a festive welcoming event by the head of the BPSDM. After the welcoming

event is finished and then each team was given some assignments from the coordinator of the group. After arrived in the destination, the teams did some social activities like repainted the walls of public lavatories and water sources.

In addition to the activities of these social activity, we distributed some goods to villagers in the form of: food, stationery, bags for the students and the provision of water pumps so that residents no longer in in trouble getting the water. All the goods that have been donated were help to smoothen their lives. After they did the social activities, the event was closed by a football game together with the villagers. All the teams gathered in the village of Barussel at 16.00 and continued the games with the villagers, singing contest between PTK and villagers who judged by the head of the BPSDM, Tomy and ends with a bonfire and sing along. Closing event set up by the committee to strengthen the bonds between PTK and the citizens were watching movies together, which is “Laskar Pelangi” while enjoying lamb roll as a sign of appreciation from the villagers for our hard work and sincerity of the participants. The second day ended with a break in preparation for the next day to come back to Jakarta.

On the third day all the participants of the social activity prepared for the breakfast together and then get ready to go back to Jakarta. All participants of the social activity store the tents and equipments also cleaned the field. Then everyone returned to Jakarta. (Hotdi)

The social activity held by BPSDM of Transportation, i think is a useful and profitable activity for rural “Babakan” resident. In the event the cadet and female cadet helped plunge and participate in activities and help the course of social activity. It is useful to train the cadet and female cadet in social life in terms of caring for the environment.

In my opinion, the event is an activity that helps us to socialize with the civilian, teach us to help each other, to share a sense of humanity, and also makes us to realize what our duty. This activity made us to become responsible for what duty that given to us.

An activity like this will never be forgotten by us because we can share with others; we can also feel how life likes them who have much with urban life/life more worthy. We look forward very much to doing charity program like this in the future. The existence of social action like this will foster a sense of concern particularly for young to channel social psyche.

As one of the participants, of course,

it became an interesting experience for me

because i got to see how the navy midshipman do their daily activity routine, which was

really organizationaly integrated and I hope we can make this experience as a comparation for our

campus in the future. Overall, there are still a lot of things that we

can learn from them for the development of our

campus. That’s all.

Alexander Lumowa11.6321/N

The relation of this activity and education system in our campus

are, with this KJK-WEM 2015 activity

which involve almost all maritime cadets in general, especially the

navy academy cadets as the host, there is a need

of self-conciousness from the cadets to make

themselves a leader-worthy and open minded

person, and also from the officers to involve themselves into the

cadets’ life in order to make a more cooperative

harmony relationship until the cadets become officers just like them in

the real world.

Tio Dwiyoga Win11.6433/T

It was such a great experience for me. We

sailed together with another mates from different academies. Honestly, I learned

many things from that journey, especially in the

attitude and the social gathering. I hope that

the integration like that would never end since I just realized how strong we are as the Indonesian

cadet if we cooperate with another academy of

the different tradition.

M. Fabi Ami11.6184/N

Literally, I was a little bit surprised with the condition. But,

as the representative of Indonesian cadet, I was really proud to

get those experiences. Berthing to the different

countries in different continents and step on the new land just made

me feel the luckiest one. Besides, new social

relationships from all sectors had opened my

mind widely.

Ricky S. Panjaitan14.7811/NOn July 5th 2015, I got a watch keeping in Widths post of Ministry Transport.
