Re:    Mr  Bickie  Mbenge  –  2nd  Africa  Youth  Games,  Botswana  

We  hereby  confirm  that  Mr  Bickie  Mbenge  has  been  associated  with  Cosafa  since  2010  and  we  have  had  the  pleasure  of  working  with  him  during  the  2010  and  2011  editions  of  the  Cosafa  U20  Youth  Championships,  both  of  which  were  hosted  by  Botswana.  

During  said  events,  Mr  Mbenge  headed  up  the  Security  Committee  of  the  Local  Organising  Committee  and  as  such  was  responsible  for  the  following:  

 

-­‐ Developing  &  implementing  the  Security  Plan  for  the  Tournament;  -­‐ Carrying  out  the  risk  assessment  at  the  Players’  Village,  Match  Venues  and  Training  sites  used  during  

the  Tournament;  -­‐ Investigating  any  and  all  incidents  during  the  tournament  and  reporting  on  such  incidents  to  the  LOC  

and  to  Cosafa    

Both  Tournaments  went  very  well  and  the  Cosafa  Organising  Committee  was  more  than  satisfied  with  Mr  Mbenge’s  handling  of  the  Security  aspects.  

In  2012,  Cosafa  organised  an  Integrity  in  Sport  Workshop  in  Johannesburg  together  with  Interpol  and  FIFA  the  aim  of  which  was  to  sensitise  members  of  the  Football  Fraternity  as  well  as  Law  Enforcement  and  Government  on  the  threats  which  match-­‐fixing  and  illegal  betting  is  posing  to  Football  in  particular,  and  to  sport  in  general.    Mr  Mbenge  was  one  of  the  representatives  from  Botswana,  who  attended  this  Workshop  by  virtue  of  his  involvement  with  Football  in  Botswana  from  a  Security  perspective.  

In  closing,  Cosafa  would  have  no  hesitation  in  once  again  working  with  Mr  Mbenge  and  can  highly  recommend  his  serves  to  the  LOC  of  the  2nd  Africa  Youth  Games,  Botswana.
