What is a Reefer Container?• Used to transport temperature controlled cargoes
• Carry fruits, veges, meat, seafood, dairy products or other chilled/frozen goods
• Ability to maintain cargo at the required temps through to its final destination.
• Do they cost more than a regular container? • Yes, as they require more technology and equipment to monitor and maintain
goods condition
• How does it work? • Machinery is attached to the back of container which runs power when
connected to reefer plug at terminal / ship. Air is circulated via air duct system that enters from bottom of container

WHY NSS FOR REEFERS?
• We exclusively lease and operate Berth 3 at the Port of Townsville – the primary berth servicing liner/container vessels.
• Berth 3 is equipped with significant infrastructure to support the reefer and container trade at the Port of Townsville including:
• Portainer Crane• Mobile Harbour Crane• 96 Reefer Points with capacity to increase
WHY NSS FOR REEFERS?
• Experienced terminal staff who manage/monitor reefers prior to export.
• Managing Pre-Trip Inspections by licensed contractors.• Monitoring Process – Daily / Bi Daily monitoring of reefers
ensuring integrity of cargo / refrigeration• Log sheets.
Why Townsville?
• Large cold store - handles over 4000mt of fruits / vegetables or Meat or slightly 160unit of reefers each week
• Small producers are able to work together to fulfil a large parcel of exports via Cold store providing the commodities are compatible
• Large producers are able to leverage on the cold store facilities and save on any infrastructure costs for building their own
• Existing trucking fleet available for refrigerated cargo to and from Townsville
• Keen interest to develop trade within NQLD & keep jobs locally
