RED/STRIPETMMud Lightener
RED/STRIPE is a novel water based mud lightener. It has been specifically designed for use in a concept fortreating various lossed of fluids in water base drilling fluid systems. RED/STRIPE works well in all types of waterbase drilling fluids.
APPLICATIONS
• RED/STRIPE Mud Lightener is a multi-componentblend of anionic and non ionic surfactants and con-surfactants in an aqueous solution. RED/STRIPEis designed to:
• Reduced Fluid Density• Reduce Water Usage• Lower Solids Content• Improve Fluid Loss Control• Improve Loss Circulation Control• Reduce Overall Chemical Usage• Reduce Daily Mud Maintenance
Cost By 20-25%
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Initial application should consist of 4 to 6 pails ofRED/STRIPE per 1000 barrels of drilling fluid addedover a full circulation period. A tourly treatment of1-2 pails per 1000 barrels added to the system overa full circulation is normally sufficent to maintaindesirable mud weight.
RED/STRIPE is most effectively applied by pumpinginto the standpipe under pressure with a small positive-displacement chemical pump.
RED/STRIPE can also be added by mixing 1 gallon ofRED/STRIPE to 40-50 gallons of water in a chemicalbarrel and injecting directly into the pump suction. Totalconcentration and maintenance treatments should befollowed as recommended.
RED/STRIPE fluids are designed to create micro-bubbles.However, drilling fluids containing RED/STRIPE exhibitlittle foaming tendencies when the product is usedproperly. Density reduction in surface return fluid isdirectly proportioned to amount being mixed. Very littlefoaming is usually observed in surface pits unless mixinggreat amounts. Mud pumps are generally affected asthey would normally be with an aerated, low-density fluid.
