• Occurred during the Cold War.• People destroying the country were American

• Investigated the government, educational systems and entertainment industry.
• Intellectuals were suspected.
McCarthyism
• McCarthyism was a second Red Scare.• Occurred during the 1940s and 1950s.• Joseph McCarty made an accusation that
there were communists in the United States.
Accusations During McCarthyism
• People who were suspected were mostly writers and entertainers.
