Client: Recycled Energy Development Locaon: Rochester, New York Compleon Date: June 2017 Project Summary: The project scope included the complete design, equipment supply, construction, and commissioning for the conversion of the existing pulverized coal fired boiler to natural gas firing with backup No. 2 oil capability. This Combustion Engineering (C-E) boiler is designed to produce 550,000 pph 1425 psig/900°F steam. The conversion of the boiler system included demolition of the existing burners and coal pipes up to the pulverizers as well as modifications to the pressure parts for installation of the tangentially fired burners. ESI installed eight (8) new Low NOx burners, ignitors, and fuel trains at two firing elevations. This work included the low NOx burner system, modifications to the combustion air system and windboxes, new burner management system (BMS), structural steel, piping, insulation, electrical, instrumentation and controls for a complete firing system. The Emerson Ovation DCS system received new processors, I/O capability, and programming to integrate the conversion of the boiler system. Project Summary:The project scope included the complete design, equipment supply, construction, and commissioning for the conversion of the existing pulverized coal fired boiler to natural gas firing with backup No.
