Thank you for considering MBA students from the
Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the
University of Pittsburgh to meet your talent acquisition
needs.
At Katz, experiential learning is at the center
of everything we do. Whether it’s managing an
investment portfolio from our state-of-the-art Financial
Analysis Laboratory, participating in project courses
with local business, including H.J. Heinz and Bayer, or
successfully competing in national and international
MBA case competitions, our students possess the real-
world experience that allows them to hit the ground
running, immediately adding value to your organization.
I encourage you to contact a member of our staff at
412-648-1510 to discuss the benefi ts of hiring a Katz
MBA or to develop an individually tailored recruiting
strategy.
We look forward to working with you and hope to see
you on campus this fall.
Best,
Shawn Graham
Director, MBA Career Services
Katz, Your Best Resource
At the Joseph M. Katz
Graduate School of
Business, not only do you
get some of the best MBA
talent available, you also
get to choose recruiting
options that fi t your needs.
We pride ourselves on our
customer service, and we
strive to design recruiting
options that revolve around
the needs of our employers.
Because of the small class
size, our Career Services
representatives know students
individually. This enables us to
connect you with the candidates
who best fi t your needs.
Katz students have a great deal
of experience with team-based
projects, which prepares them to
be contributing members of your
organization. In addition to their
team-building skills, students
realize the importance of group
productivity and individual output.
Katz graduates and interns have
completed rigorous educational
training, including studies in
strategic business viewpoints,
technological skills, and analytical
problem-solving from nationally
recognized research scholars and
educators.
By combining talented individuals
with experience in cutting edge
business philosophies and
education, we offer you highly
skilled full-time and internship
candidates with the ability to
contribute value to your
organization from day one.
The curriculum is grounded in
core business principles and
offers the fl exibility of more than

in developing new skill sets
and honing the skills they have
brought to Katz.

Financial Analysis LaboratoryOur brand new, state-of-the-art Financial Analysis Laboratory
resembles the trading fl oors maintained by investment banks
and fi nancial fi rms, giving students exposure to real-time
fi nancial information fl ows and top-notch analytic tools.
Corporate PresentationsWe recommend holding these
informational sessions at least
four weeks before you plan on
interviewing candidates. This
provides you an opportunity
to promote your company and
the positions available before
students submit résumés. These
presentations are open to all
students registered with Career
Services.
Mock Interview DayMock Interview Day is one of the
most useful and well attended
events on campus. Students
get the one-on-one opportunity
to practice their interviewing
skills with recruiters and hiring
executives from the business
community. Participating
recruiters have the opportunity
to get in front of MBA talent and
promote their companies before
on-campus recruiting offi cially
begins. After the mock interview,
students are provided
with valuable feedback from
their interviewers about what
their strengths are and how they
can improve their interviewing
ability. This feedback is just one of
many professional development
components that Career Services
utilizes to help build stronger,
more effective candidates for your
future employment opportunities.
Sharing the Real World with Katz StudentsGraduate students arrive at
Katz with clear-cut goals and
ambitions. They often know
the kind of job and industry in
which they would like to work
after completing the MBA.
Our goal is to round out the
students’ understanding of the
nature and challenges of their
chosen profession by inviting
employers to showcase real job
opportunities and career paths in
their organizations. For example,
employers participate in Exploring
Your Career Path.
Students learn what it really
means to be a brand manager
(or fi nancial analyst, consultant,
market researcher, etc.) through
discussions with people actually
doing the job. They learn what
the job entails, key priorities and
challenges, and what it takes to
be successful.
Successful MBA RecruitingStarts with a PresenceCompetition for top MBA talent is tight. The best way to
secure the right candidates for your company is to build a
strong presence on campus, and interact with students in
more ways than just interviews.

Discover Your Career in BusinessIn this course, students learn
job search skills and how to
communicate their capabilities
clearly and convincingly.
Employers participate as
guest speakers and have the
opportunity to meet some of our
top students seeking internship
and full-time positions. We
welcome the expertise and
experience that our employers
offer and invite you to participate
in a lunchtime forum, classroom

Career FairsThe Joseph M. Katz Graduate
School of Business’ Career
Services Center and The
University of Pittsburgh’s main
Career Services Offi ce have
combined efforts to provide an
opportunity for you to meet both
graduate and undergraduate
talent in one visit to the University.
Whether you use career fairs as a
preliminary pre-interview activity
or as your primary sourcing tool,
you will fi nd an event that suits
your needs. Our career fairs are
designed to provide you with an
opportunity to effectively market
your company on campus, identity
interested candidates, and
establish excellent relationships
with students.
Scheduled career
fairs are held in the
fall and spring of each
academic year. The fall
Career Fair primarily
focuses on those
companies recruiting
candidates for full-
time opportunities.
The spring Career
Fair primarily focuses
on those companies
recruiting candidates
for summer internship
opportunities.
Complete details,

registration information,
an agenda, a
list of suggested
accommodations,
directions and parking
information, and
shipping instructions can be
found at www.careers.pitt.edu.
Case CompetitionsCould your company use a fresh
perspective on a problem? If
so, sponsoring a Katz case
competition with a student
organization may be the solution.
Katz case competitions are two-
day events where Katz students
team up to tackle a specifi c
problem for your company. The
fi rst day, teams of two to fi ve
students read the case,
conduct research, and develop
their proposals. The second
day, representatives from your
organization judge the team
presentations and select a
winner. Participants are highly
competitive as each team puts
their knowledge to the test in this
experiential learning opportunity.
Recruiters have many opportunities to evaluate Katz students.

Katz has amassed an impressive list of companies that have
hired its MBAs, interviewed or held an event on campus,
or posted a job or internship with the MBA Career Services
Center during academic year 2007-2008. Organizations that
hired two or more students for full-time jobs or internships are
highlighted in bold.

The Katz School has long
recognized that MBAs from
outside the United States offer
unique skill sets that make
them an asset to U.S. employers
and multinational corporations
worldwide. Their multilingual
skills, multicultural outlook,
awareness of other countries’
business practices, and ability
to access a worldwide network
of peers will prove invaluable to
your company. In addition, the
stamina, persistence, and work
ethic international students
demonstrate by successfully
completing an MBA in the United
States offer employers confi dence
that these newly minted MBAs
can perform in the rigorous reality
of today’s marketplace.
From a practical standpoint, many
employers may not realize the
ease with which they can employ
an international student for an
internship or full-time position.
In most cases, the only paperwork
required by the hiring organization
is an offer letter. The University of
Pittsburgh’s Offi ce of International
Services (OIS) does much of
the paperwork for students with
an F-1 visa, and the KATZPORT
program will assist with all H1-B
visa paperwork after the student
graduates.
International interns often
bring a new perspective to a
company and offer a high
return on investment, both
in the work they perform
and the multicultural
perspective
they offer a
company’s
other
employees.
For more
information click on
KATZPORT.
KATZPORT is an innovative program that allows employers to
hire international talent without the hassle of the paperwork.
Katz has contracted with a nationally renowned immigration
law fi rm to handle this paperwork for companies hiring
international Katz graduates.

pool of potential employees who
understand your business, with
considerable savings on training
and assessing cultural fi t. Katz
interns are available for full-time
internships from mid-April to late-
August, and many students are
available to work as interns on a

year.
Internships are a key component
of the two-year Katz experience.
Students develop their skill sets
throughout their time at Katz,
and then put them into action
during summer internships and
during year-round work on special
projects.
The faculty and administrative
staff work to ensure that Katz
students are ready to “hit the
ground running” when they begin
working with your company.
