In answer to reporter Tammy Petersen’s direct questions:

Why has no community centre been built in the area? Newfields is not identified in the CSIR Report as a priority are for a new community centre.

Residents say that seeing as the area has been there for over 30 years, facilities such as a hall and library has never been built there. Why?

See first answer above. The Csir Report included a library analysis. Are there any plans to build a community centre there? Why or why not?

No. Newfields is not identified in the CSIR Report as a priority are for a new library.

Is there any criteria which have to be looked at before an area can receive a hall? Yes. Criteria 1: The area has to be identified as a priority area in the CSIR Report. Criteria 2: The need has to be confirmed in the Recreation Research Study. Criteria 3: The capital and operating budget has to be

available.
