ThisdocumentisalegallybindingagreementbetweenyouandGetDataPtyLtdABN79100297149("GetData"),thedeveloperofthesoftwareprogram"RecoverMyFiles"("Software").PermissiontousetheSoftwareandanydocumentationincludedwiththeSoftware("Documentation")isconditionaluponyouagreeingtothetermssetoutbelow.ByinstallingorotherwiseusingtheSoftwareyouagreetobeboundbythetermsofthisagreement.Ifyoudonotwishtoaccepttheterms,donotinstallorusetheSoftwareand(ifusingaCD-ROM)returntheSoftwareandDocumentationtoGetDatainitsoriginalpackagingwithin14daysofreceivingtheSoftware.

The"StandardLicense"permitsyoutoinstallandusetheSoftwareonasinglecomputeror,intheeventthatyouhavepurchasedmultiplelicenses,toinstalltheSoftwareconcurrentlyonmultiplecomputersequivalenttothenumberoflicensesthatyouhavepurchased.ThestandardlicensedoesnotallowyoutousetheSoftwaretoperformcommercialdatarecoveryservicesforotherparties.

The"ProfessionalLicense"permitsyoutoinstallandusethesoftwareonasinglecomputeror,intheeventthatyouhavepurchasedmultiple

The"DataRecoveryTechnician"licenseisprovidedonahardwaredongleonly.Itallowsthelicenseholdertoinstallthesoftwareonathirdpartycomputerandactivateitwiththedongleforthepurposeofperformingdatarecoveryservices.

Youarenotpermittedtosharethelicense,productactivationinformation,orhardwaredonglefortheSoftwarewithotherusers.

Unlessyouhavepurchasedmultiplelicenses,thislicensedoesnotpermityoutoloadorusetheSoftwareonanetworkserverorsimilardevicewhichpermitsaccessbymultiplecomputers

RecoverMyFilesisdesignedtogetbackyourcreatedphotos,documents,musicetc.Selectandsavethefilesthataremostimportanttoyou.Remember;

ThereisnopointsavinggigabytesofWindowsSystemfilesthatwillbeworthlesstoyouanditwilljustslowthesavingprocessdown;

Ratherthantryingtorecoverandsavesoftwareprograms,itisbettertoreinstallsoftwareprogramsfromtheoriginaldisksorinstallationfilestobesuretheintegrityoftheirregistrysettingsetc.

HowmuchspacewillIneedtosavethefiles?

InthebottomboarderoftheRecoverMyFilessearchresultswindowyouwillseethenumberoffilesselected,andthetotalsizeofthefilesselected,e.g."Selecteditems25(22.3mb)".

Duringthesavingprocess,aseachfileissaved,theselectiontickisremovedfromthefileandcorrespondinglythenumberof"Selecteditems"andthetotalsizeofselectedfilesisreduced.

Ifthemediathatyouaresavingtorunsoutofspace,simplyconnectnewmediaandrestartthesaveprocess.

TIP:Itisprudenttosavefilesinmanageablevolumes.Forexample,insteadoftryingtosave2terrabyteofdatainonego,Windowsmayfinditlessintensiveifyouweretobreakitupinto4x500segments.

Initsnormaloperation,RecoverMyFilesreadstheexistingfilesystem/sandanyrecoveredfilesystem/sandtreatsthisasallocatedspace.Then,whenitmovesintothescanforLostFiles,itscansonlytheunallocatedspace.Thegoalistoreducethevolumeofdatathatneedstobesearchedtomakethesearchfaster.

Usingtheoption“Scanforlostfilesacrossthewholedevice”tellsRecoverMyFilesthatwhenitgetstotheLostFilesearch,itneedstorunovertheentiredrive,fromthefistsectortothelast.Thismeansthattwocopiesofafilecanbefound,thefirstasafilewithitsfullfileandfoldername(foundasaFilesystemrecord)andthe

secondasaLostFile(bylocatingtheheaderandfooterofthisfileinallocatedspace).

JBOD(JustaBunchOfDisks)isatermtodescribethegroupingofodd-sizeddrivesintoonelargerusefuldrive.Foreexample,aJBODcouldcombine3GB,15GB,5.5GB,and12GBdrivesintoalogicaldriveat35.5GB,whichisoftenmoreusefulthantheindividualdrivesseparately.

RAID0

ARAID0(alsoknownasastripesetorstripedvolume)splitsdataevenlyacrosstwoormoredisks(striped)withnoparityinformationforredundancy.ItisimportanttonotethatRAID0wasnotoneoftheoriginalRAIDlevelsandprovidesnodataredundancy.RAID0isnormallyusedtoincreaseperformance,althoughitcanalsobeusedasawaytocreateasmallnumberoflargevirtualdisksoutofalargenumberofsmallphysicalones.
