Delivering real Budget surpluses

within 12 months we’ll get the budget back under control, cut government waste, and start delivering real and sustainable budget surpluses – paying back debt – and taking pressure off interest rates and the Australian dollar.

Commission of Audit

for the 1st time in 16 years, we’ll immediately establish a commission of Audit – to identify savings and efficiencies in all areas of government so we can start delivering real and sustainable budget surpluses into the future.

End wasteful spending and borrowing

we’ll immediately crack down on waste and end reckless spending and borrowing – so the government no longer needs to keep borrowing money to prop up its budget.

Reducing government debt

we’ll start reducing government debt – so that the government won’t need to spend around $8 billion a year on interest payments alone. This will then free up money to spend on families – through lower taxes and better health and education.

Strengthening Australia’s economy

we’ll immediately legislate to scrap the world’s biggest carbon Tax removing a major barrier to Australia’s economic growth – protecting jobs, growing a bigger economy, increasing Australia’s exports, restoring confidence in Australia’s economy.

Building a Five-Pillar Pro-Growth Economy

in our first term, we’ll start building a bigger and stronger five-Pillar economy: 1) a stronger service economy, 2)a stronger education and information economy, 3) a stronger agricultural sector, 4) a stronger mining industry, 5)stronger manufacturing industries.

Supporting Australia’s manufacturing businesses

we’ll also act immediately to provide a level playing field for manufacturing businesses with more effective anti-dumping measures.

Growing small businesses

we’ll take action to cut company tax and start cutting government red tape costs by over $1 billion a year to help businesses grow and create more Australian jobs.

we’ll deliver a system that provides more affordable and flexible childcare to help families juggle work and family commitments by asking the Productivity commission to urgently undertake an inquiry into childcare.

Better paid parental leave in our first term we’ll introduce a

Paid Parental Leave scheme to give most mothers six months off at full pay. This helps families; and gives women the choice if they want to continue their careers.

Cutting taxes and costs

we’ll take action to encourage small businesses to grow by cutting company tax and by abolishing the carbon Tax which will reduce the costs of every business.

Cutting red tape by $1 billion a year

within 12 months we’ll help businesses grow by cutting government red tape costs to business by at least $1 billion p.a.

Easing pressure on interest rates

we’ll ease the pressure on interest rates and the Australian dollar through lower government spending and borrowing.

Boosting productivity

we’ll take a series of measures to boost productivity – including carefully considering the practical problems that the community has identified in the fair work Act so that small businesses and their staff can get a fair go and productivity can increase.

Paying bills on time within 100 days we’ll ensure

government departments and agencies pay their small business bills on time by adopting a ‘pay on time or pay interest penalty’ at the same rate as applied by the ATo.

Stronger jobs growth

starting in our first term we’ll create more jobs right across Australia by immediately scrapping the carbon Tax and by building a bigger and stronger five-Pillar Pro-growth economy.

Fixing our public hospitals

starting in our first term we’ll put local people from local communities, not bureaucrats, in charge of public hospitals by creating independent community boards to appoint the ceo, put patient-care first, and manage hospital budgets.

Creating better public schools

starting in our first term we’ll also put parents from local communities in charge of public schools, by creating school councils to appoint and then empower principals to run schools, and manage school budgets.
