Other sentences that give more information to explain the main idea are called supporting ideas.

How to find the main idea in a paragraph:
Read the title.
Read the first sentence of the paragraph.
If the main idea is not stated in the first sentence, it may be stated in
the last sentence.
If the first and last sentences do not identify the main idea, use a
highlighter while rereading the paragraph.
Highlight words or ideas that repeat themselves. Ideas that are
repeated are likely evidence of the author's main idea.

Once you find the main idea, the rest of the paragraph is the supporting ideas.
Supporting ideas includes examples, reasons, or other facts that support the main idea.
