The GIST Procedure GIST = Generating Interactions Between

Schemata and Text

GIST also called as main ideas of paragraphs

One approach to summarizing a text

Summarizing requires focus on the main ideas of atext and decide what is important withoutomitting key ideas

Main idea can be found in first sentence usuallybut not always, sometimes it will appear in themiddle or even in the last of paragraph
