reAcT’s missiON AND OBJecTives“reAcT aspires to remain the most cost effective, efficient and practical anti-counterfeiting service, that is able to respond with agility and flexibility to the needs of its member companies. it will continue to act as an inter-national centre of excellence and provide a ‘one-stop- shop’ for practical enforcement and innovative ideas in dealing with legal, environmental, disposal and recycling issues arising from intellectual property rights violations”.

reAcT was founded in 1991 by the Dutch chamber of commerce as ‘sNB-reAcT’. since then the organizat ion -current ly known as reAcT- has grown into a large interna-t ional network wi th strate-gical ly placed branches, agencies and partners around the wor ld to eff i -c ient ly f ight the global t rade in counterfei t goods.Our large and growing network is a unique aspectof reAcT, al lowing us to

undertake the organiza-t ion of ra ids and to perform basic legal formal i t ies at low rates in almost al l european and increasingly non-european countr ies.

HOW We WOrK With around 200 members, cover ing al l areas of industry, reAcT has exper ience in deal ing wi th almost al l areas of infr inging goods. Because members need to coop-erate intensively wi th law

enforcement author i t ies and in order to enhance this cooperat ion and serve the enforcement author i -t ies, a speci f ic organizat ion has been set up: the iPr Business Partnership (p.8).

reAcT is overseen by the Board of Directors. The main role of th is Board is to manage the associa-t ion to the best interest of the members. This Board is made up of a combinat ion of reAcT members.

reAcT Aims TO recYcLe!reAcT’s ambition to dispose of counterfeit goods in a green, socially responsible and cost effective manner has lead to a 50% participation in the company DWZ: an organization in the Netherlands that provides a work program for psychiatric patients and other people who have a large distance to the labour market. Their work mainly consists of dismantling counterfeit goods and offering the raw materials derived thereof back to the recycling industry.

Now 95% of the counterfei t product ’s raw mater ia ls are being re-used!

THe PArTic iPAT iON DWZ is a l imi ted company whose shares are

destruct ion/recycl ing of counterfei t goods; - increasingly pressure is put on r ights owners to take care of the disposal of goods. This solut ion wi l l keep costs low; - DWZ is located close to Belgium and parts of Germany. The recycl ing program is already cover-ing the customs ports in parts of these countr ies; - The recycl ing program may contr ibute to members’ environmental programs; - This model can be used to expand and develop simi lar in i t iat ives in the eU and beyond.

reAcT has devel-oped an invest igat ion service in order to meet the increasing demand for the disclosure of internat ional d istr ibut ion networks. We have developed our services to make test-purchases and we have contracted a very exper i -enced internat ional invest i -gator. For the test- purchases we have set up

an undercover operat ion which is able to make Consumer to Consumer, Business to Consumer and Business to Business t ransact ions in a covert manner (undercover emai ls, dummy corpora-t ions etc.) . From the test-purchase we administrate al l the evidence you need to fo l low up the case. Our internat ional invest igat ion service is

intended to support local invest igat ions. The team is able to operate and intervene in the coun-terfei t t rade pract ical ly wor ldwide, and hence, col lect the evidence nec-essary to pursue impor-tant networks.
