application does not have to be run from the server. It can be launched
from any workstation that has the Raiser’s Edge installed.
ix. You do need to run this utility as an administrator on your machine.
c. ‘Register the Application’
i. The first time you run the RE7 Export Wizard 2.0 you will be asked to
register the application. You just need to fill out the fields below and then
select the ‘OK’ button to continue to the wizard.
II. Navigate through the tabs of the Export Wizard
To launch the RE7 Export Wizard, right-click the RE7 Export Wizard icon and select Run as administrator.
a. ‘Welcome Tab’—The purpose of the RE7 Export Wizard is to guide you
through preparing and sending in data for your Target Analytics project. A
Target Analytics data analyst will be on the call with you to guide you through
the export. If you have any questions, please reference the following
Knowledgebase solution or contact your project coordinator:
http://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?page=content&id=BB731114
i. ‘Select a Service’—Depending on which service you select, certain tabs
will disappear. This is by design as each service has different
requirements.
1. Target Analytics Test: Analytics & Wealth Analysis Audit
2. donorCentrics: Comparative Benchmarking
3. ProspectPoint: Fundraising Modeling
4. WealthPoint: Wealth Analysis
ii. ‘Select a Database to Export Dropdown’—This dropdown option allows
you to select a Raiser’s Edge database from your Raiser’s Edge
databases that are attached to your Blackbaud Management Console.
iii. ‘Select a Group’—This option allows you to either include all records or
select a constituent or individual query from Raiser’s Edge for your job. If
you are selecting the ‘Target Analytics Test’ service you are required to
Allows for the use of previously selected user
criteria
use a query and to not exceed 500 records. If your query does exceed
the 500 record test limit there will be options on how to select the records.
Note: We recommend you use a dynamic query, or use the Export module and output the Import ID for records in the query. You can then use the Import ID as a flag to narrow down the records. Static and merged queries normally do not work well with the wizard, as they will likely export all records instead of just those in the query.
i. ‘Home Address Tab’ —Select all of the address types you consider to be
a home address from the ‘List of Available Addresses’ and move them to the
‘Hierarchy of Addresses’ by dragging and dropping the address type (or
double clicking) to the right hand side of the screen. Please arrange the
home addresses in a hierarchical order as the first valid, populated address
among the hierarchy will be exported. You can drag and drop the addresses
on the ‘Hierarchy of Addresses’ to get them in your exact order. Please also
select your ‘Preferred Country’ using the ‘Select Preferred Country’
dropdown.
The first populated address among the hierarchy
will be exported
iv. ‘Use Last Configuration Checkbox’—Mark this checkbox if you want to
retain all of your settings from your previous export. If you want to select new settings, do not mark the checkbox. Click on the ‘Next’ button to initialize the database and begin making selections for your export.
b. ‘Bio Info Tab’—The purpose of this tab is to select biographical information about
constituents in your database.
ii. ‘Home Phone Tab’ —Select all of the phone types you consider to be a
home phone number from the ‘List of Available Phone Types’ and move
them to the ‘Hierarchy for Home Phone Field’ by dragging and dropping
the phone type (or double clicking) to the right hand side of the screen.
Please arrange the phone types in a hierarchical order as the first valid,
populated phone number will be exported. The phone number will be
extracted from the home address record selected on the prior tab as
phone numbers exist on address records in Raiser’s Edge. You can drag
and drop the phone types on the ‘Hierarchy for Home Phone Field’ to get
them in your exact order.
iii. ‘Email Address Tab’ —Select all of the phone types you consider to be an
email address from the ‘List of Available E-Mail Types’ and move them to
the ‘Hierarchy for E-Mail Field’ by dragging and dropping the phone type
(or double clicking) to the right hand side of the screen. Please arrange
the phone types (e-mail addresses) in a hierarchical order as the first
valid, populated phone number will be exported. You can drag and drop
the phone types on the ‘Hierarchy for E-Mail Field’ to get them in your
exact order. Email addresses are stored as phone types in Raiser’s
Edge.
iv. ‘Constituent Attributes Tab’ —Select all of the constituent attributes you
would like to export by marking the checkboxes listed next to the attribute.
Please consider only attributes that are consistently tracked in your
database. If you only want to export specific descriptions for an attribute,
click on the triangle next to the attribute to expand the attribute and view
all of the descriptions. Mark the checkboxes next to the descriptions you
want to export. If you want to export an entire attribute category, then
mark the attribute category and the first 10 descriptions will be exported.
If the entire attribute category is
chosen, it will export the first 10
descriptions
Only the specified
descriptions will be
exported
v. ‘Education Attributes Tab’ —Select all of the education attributes you
would like to export by marking the checkboxes listed next to the attribute.
Please consider only attributes that are consistently tracked in your
database .If you only want to export specific attribute descriptions for an
attribute, click on the triangle next to the attribute to expand the attribute
and view all of the descriptions. Mark the checkboxes next to the
descriptions you want to export. If you want to export an entire attribute
category, then mark the attribute category and the first 10 descriptions will
be exported.
vi. ‘Assigned Solicitor Tab’—Select the assigned solicitor types you consider
as your primary assigned solicitor or prospect manager from the ‘List of
Available Solicitors’ and move them to the “Hierarchy for Solicitor Field’
by dragging and dropping the assigned solicitor type (or double clicking)
to the right hand side of the screen. Please arrange the assigned solicitor
types in a hierarchical order as the first, valid assigned solicitor will be
exported. If there are two assigned solicitors on a record with the same
solicitor type then the most recently added one will be selected.
c. ‘Gift Information Tab’ —The purpose of this tab is to categorize gifts together for
the Target Analytics project. This tab is further segmented by donation, non
donation, and other types of giving.
i. ‘Gift Tab Functionality’
1. The ‘All’ checkbox will select\de-select all subsequent campaigns,
funds, or appeals within each category.
2. The ‘No Category’ represents campaigns, funds, or appeals that
do not have a category populated on their record.
Categorize giving by campaign, fund, or appeal
3. Once you mark a campaign, fund, or appeal on one of the giving
tabs it will become grayed out so you cannot select that campaign,
fund, or appeal on any other tab.
4. On the ‘Appeals’ section, if you have more than 5,000 appeals
listed for an appeal category, you will receive the following filter
option message:
This allows you to filter and search for specific appeals by ‘Appeal Start
Date’, ‘Appeal ID’, and ‘Appeal Description.’ This applies for each
‘Appeals’ section under all of the giving category tabs. The ‘like’ function
allows you to search by a set of characters rather than name so you can
use wild cards in your search.
ii. ‘Exclusions Tab’ —This is the first tab on the ‘Gift Information’ section of
the wizard that you want to use. This tab is designated to select non
donation money itemized by the category associated with the campaign,
fund, or appeal.
iii. ‘Other Tabs (1-2)’ —These tabs are designated to select other money
itemized by the category associated with the campaign, fund, or appeal
that does not fall into non donation, annual, event, or membership giving.
For example, if you want to categorize ‘Planned Giving’ money into a
separate bucket you can select ‘Planned Giving’ campaigns, funds, or
appeals on the ‘Other (1) tab’.
1. On the ‘Other (1-2) Tabs’ you can right click on the name of the
tab and select to ‘Rename’ the tab and then select ‘OK’.
iv. ‘Event Tab’ —This tab is designated to select event money itemized by
the category associated with the campaign, fund, or appeal.
v. ‘Membership Tab’ — This tab is designated to select membership money
itemized by the category associated with the campaign, fund, or appeal.
vi. ‘Annual Tab’ —This tab is designated to select regular donation money
itemized by the category associated with the campaign, fund, or appeal.
We encourage you to mark the ‘All’ checkbox under the ‘List of Available
Funds’ as the ‘Annual Tab’ should now contain all remaining gifts as you
have already excluded other types of giving (non donation, other,
membership, event) on the previous tabs. You should only be left with
annual\donation money at this point. We recommend doing this under the
‘List of Available Funds’ section as funds are required on gift records in
the Raiser’s Edge. This is the only tab where you can select the ‘All’
checkbox.
vii. ‘Gift Attributes Tab’—Select all of the gift attributes you would like to
export by marking the checkboxes listed next to the attribute. Please
consider only attributes that are consistently tracked in your database. If
you only want to export specific descriptions for an attribute, click on the
triangle next to the attribute to expand the attribute and view all of the
descriptions. Mark the checkboxes next to the descriptions you want to
export. If you want to export an entire attribute category, then mark the
attribute category and the first 10 descriptions will be exported.
d. ‘Final Processing Information Tab’ —The purpose of this tab is to export your
data locally to your machine and to your FTP folder on the Blackbaud website.
i. ‘Export File Information’—Select where you would like the export files to
go on your computer by clicking on the ‘Browse’ button and navigating to
your desired location.
ii. ‘FTP Information’
1. For the ‘FTP Info’—the ‘Host’ will always be ‘ftp1.blackabud.com.’
2. Fill in your FTP username and FTP password to have the files
automatically uploaded to your FTP folder on the Blackbaud
website. Every Blackbaud website user has a unique FTP folder
and a unique FTP username and password. Please note that this
is different from your Blackbaud.com username and password.
3. Your FTP username and password display on ‘Your Profile’ on the
Blackbaud website and can also be found under the ‘FTP
instruction’ section on the website.

Blackbaud website, please visit the following website for
help:

c. This is a secure SFTP connection, which uses a 256 bit
Advanced Encryption Standards (AES) transfer encryption.
d. Once you have entered your FTP credentials, select the
‘Test’ button to test your connection and ensure you have
entered valid credentials. You will receive an error
message if the wizard is unable to establish a connection.
e. If you do not wish to create a login for the Blackbaud
website, do not fill in the FTP information and you can opt
to locally export the files to a location on your computer.
You will get a message stating that the FTP information is
empty and it will ask if you want to transfer the file when
the process is complete. You can say ‘No’ to the message
and the files will still export locally to your machine.
iii. ‘Review Gift Selections’—Select the ‘Review’ button to see all of the
campaigns, funds, and appeals you have selected on the prior ‘Gift
Information’ tabs before you begin the actual export.
iv. ‘Initiate Export’—Select the ‘Process’ button on the bottom right hand
corner of the screen to initiate the export.
v. ‘Control Reports’—Once the export completes, click on the ‘View
Reports’ button located on the bottom left hand corner of the screen to
review the ‘Export Inclusions Summary Report.’ Please make sure all of
the selections are accurate. Your data analyst will guide you through the
other generated reports. All files will be zipped and password protected.
vi. ‘Comments’—The comments box allows you to enter any notes you wish
to write down about the export. Additionally, for the ‘Target Analytics Test’
and ‘donorCentrics’ service options the files are automatically uploaded to
a FTP folder where the data analyst accesses the files. You do not need
to enter any FTP information for those services. For ‘ProspectPoint’ and
‘WealthPoint’ jobs where you do want to FTP the data we still need the
above information. Lastly, if you select the ‘Target Analytics Test’ option
you will be required to enter your Account Executive’s name and email
address so we can properly track the test.
