WORKSHOP ON “VISION AND MEANINGFUL LIFE” Riphah College of Rehabilitation and Allied Health sciences conducted a workshop for faculty development on 19 th march 2019 at G7/4 campus Islamabad. The topic of the workshop was “Vision and Meaningful life”. The whole faculty of physical therapy and speech & language pathology department attended the workshop. WORKSHOP ON “PATIENT SAFETY ONLINE COURSE”

A training session was organized by Faculty of Rehabilitation and Allied Health Sciences

(FRAHS) on Mar 12, 2019 from 02:00pm to 04:00pm to train RCR&AHS faculty on how to use

Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) platform. This session was attended by all the faculty

members of FRAHS. The facilitator for this workshop was respected Director Riphah Institute of

Healthcare Improvement and Safety (RIHIS) Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman. Associate Prof. Dr.

Abdul Ghafoor Sajjad started the session with brief introduction about the course and Riphah

International University’s efforts for improving healthcare quality and patient safety. This was

followed with discussion by Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman who discussed about the significance of

patient safety in medical profession with special emphasis on rehabilitation and allied health

professionals. He also gave a detailed description about the online courses being offered by IHI

and complete procedure for using IHI platform. The session also included practical online

training of all the workshop participants under supervision of Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman.

STUDY CIRCLE (RCRS BOYS CAMPUS)

The study circle was commenced on 26th March, 2019 and first 10 ayaat of surat-ul-Hujrat were

discussed with Arabic recitation and Urdu translation and tafseer (Tafheem-ul-Quran). It was a

quite valuable and constructive activity conducted in a candidly learning environment.

All male faculty members participated in the study circle under the observation of Assist. Prof.

Dr. Muhammad Affan Iqbal. All faculty members actively participated in discussion. 10 ayaat

one by one were recited, translated, and discussed focusing on the point that how we can apply

the message of Quran in activities of our daily life. Moreover, what are the consequences we are

facing in getting away from the real message of Islam described and well explained in Quran.

Dr. Ali Hussain shared ‘shan-e-nazool’ of some ayaat discussed in the study circle. Other faculty

members namely Dr. Iqbal Tariq, Dr. Arif Hussain Talpur, Dr. Waqar, Dr. Laaiq, Dr. Noman

Sadiq, Dr. Faheem pointed out different worthwhile points from the tafseer of Ayaat that we

really need to understand and apply in our aspects of life.

Some conclusive comments expressed by Dr. Tahir Ramzan that these ayaat focus and guides

actually about:

The formation of “Virtuous and good Society”

By focusing and using the tool of “interpersonal relationship”

On the basis “That Islamic Ahkamaat of Allah Almighty are perfect and cannot be

challenged, and these are described by Hazrat Muhammad وسلم عليه هللا صلى۔ ”

The Study Circle was concluded with dua by Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Affan Iqbal.

TARBIYAH SESSION (RCRS BOYS)

Tarbiyah-Wing (RCRS Boys) in collaboration with Tarbiyah Campus Incharge G7/4 organized

and conducted fortnightly mentoring training sessions (2 sessions in total) with 9th

semester and

10th

semester Boys in the month of March, 2019 at G7/4 Campus Riphah International

University. The session was well attended with almost Full participants of 9th

semester (8 Boys)

and 10th

(12 Boys).

The Mentoring Session started with Quranic recitation. This followed with discussion by dr.

Iqbal Tariq on introduction to the Riphah’s mission and why Riphah had included a mentoring

program among the Faculty and Students by Dr Iqbal Tariq. Moreover, he also highlighted the

importance of developing a sense of purpose in the students at Riphah. After the introduction of

Mentor and mentee (students), session proceeded with discussion with the participants about

their interests/hobbies, a brief presentation on Riphah Mission, vision and purpose which briefly

led the audience through a journey of the heart from disbelief and denial to belief (Iman) and

surrender. The session was concluded with Importance of Fajar and Zohar Namaz with hadith of

Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) and dua by Dr. Iqbal Tariq.

INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT ON IDEOLOGY OF PAKISTAN

(JID-O-JAHED-E-PAKISTAN) – RCRS BOYS

Riphah International University organized an event first of its kind; International Summit on

Ideology of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan day, 23rd March. The theme of this summit was

‘JID-O-JAHED of Muslim Ummah’ of sub-continent that resulted in the formation of a

sovereign country Pakistan. In this event, students were invited from 17 universities around twin

cities for the event competitions.

Objective:

Riphah International University aimed to pay tribute our national heroes of JID-O-JEHED –E-

AZADI by arranging many competitions among the students and inspirational talks by renowned

speakers, keeping high spirit.

Ambassadors:

Ahmed Bashir (DPT semester 02) organized the event from boy’s side as Ambassador for

DPT students were also the part of organizing team and facilitated the management in

maintaining discipline, facilitating event judges, provided guidance to the participants, and also

Research poster competition details:

Research Poster Competition was organized by RCR&AHS students.

Topic for Research Poster Competition was “ Research based Model of an Islamic

Welfare State”

3-5 minute presentation was allowed and mandatory for each participant

Rs. 10,000 and a souvenir was awarded to winner

Rs. 5000/- and a souvenir was awarded to runner –up

TARBIYAH SESSION (RCRS GIRLS)

Tarbiyah-wing (RCRS girls) conducted a workshop on 26th

march 2019. The topic of this

workshop was “Socialism”. 18 Mentors and female faculty were present in this particular session

and shared their insight about the topic. Moreover, students of 1st and 2

nd semester also attended

this workshop. The objective of the workshop was:

To enhance the Socialist values, equality and liberty.

To learn about cultural norms and values.

To learn how to live a life according to the Islamic values.

This workshop was being organized and managed by Ms. Sania Khawar Kiani.

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY (SLP) ACTIVITIES

(MARCH ACTIVITIES)

Rabia Zubair: Lecturer in Speech and Language Pathology attended a workshop in Lahore at

the Centre for Language Engineering. She also completed four patient safety courses.

Raffa Mubeen: Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Pathology attended a workshop in

Lahore at the Centre for Language Engineering. She completed four patient safety courses and

attended a workshop on ‘Dysarthria’ at the National Institute for Special Education. Madam

Raffa worked towards ‘Developing Dysphagia Diet Protocols for Pakistan’

Soabah Wasim: Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Pathology attended a workshop in

Lahore at the Centre for Language Engineering. She completed four patient safety courses.

Humaira Shamim Kiyani: Assistant Professor in Speech and Language Pathology presented at

the National institute for Special Education. She also completed four patient safety courses.

Madam Humaira designed and is delivering an Aphasia certification in Lahore.

Ayesha Kamal Butt: Associate Dean and Associate Professor in Speech and Language

Pathology presented to a mixed audience related to allied health sciences in Helping Hands

Mansehra. She also completed four patient safety courses. She designed and delivered a

Language Assessment Certificate course in Lahore and has also published one impact factor

article.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (CDC) ACTIVITIES

Visits:

On 1st March 2019, Max Health team visited CDC-FRAHS with Mr. Shahid Akhter (Psychiatrist

Max Health Hospital), Mr. Shahid Tanoli (Manager Operations), and Dr. Azhar Halim (HOD

Riphah Social Welfare Dept.). Discussion regarding Autism clinic, collaborative events and free

camps was conducted. Moreover, CDC flyers were also shared with Max Health Manager

Operations.

Check-ups:

On 5th

and 6th

March 2019, Dr. Misbah (PG Medicl, Pediatric Dept. of Pakistan Railway General

Hospital) conducted a medical check-up of children in CDC-FRAHS.

Activities:

On 8th

March 2019, children of CDC-FRAHS made different Badges of Pakistani Flag.

CDC-FRAHS had its information desk on 12th

International Conference on Recent Innovative in Pharmaceutical Sciences (ICRIPS).

Fund Raising:

and 22th March 2019, Art Exhibition for the aim of fund raising was conducted in CDC-

FRAHS regarding Pakistan Day.

Art Exhibition at Jid-do-Jahed Event

On 19th

and 20th

March 2019, CDC-FRAHS participated in Jid-do-Jahed event held at Awan-e-

Quaid F9 park, Islamabad. Children of CDC appeared as guests and CDC representatives

displayed the Art Work of children and teachers of CDC-FRAHS. Flyers were also distributed at

all members of the event.

Birthday Celebration:

On 18th

march, birthday of child enrolled in CDC-FRAHS was celebrated.

Youth Athlete Training

On 20th

March 2019, team Special Olympic Pakistan came to CDC-FRAHS for the 1st session of

Young Athlete’s training of CDC children and staff. At the end of training, medals were given to

the children of CDC.

CDC-FRAHS Faculty and Students’ Training

Interns of Psychology Department were given the training in pediatric assessment and

intervention plans formulation.

Study circle assignment was distributed among CDC teachers from the book “Way to

Islam’ recommended by Dr. Kausar.

All the team members of CDC have received young athlete’s fitness training by special

Olympics Pakistan (SOP) on March 20, 2019.
