Getting Started In The RC Car Hobby

    The Radio Control %ar hobby %an be great 1un. You get the 1eel o1dri2ing a %ar or tru%( li(e you %ould ne2er dri2e your real %ar.

    Beginners usually begin +ith an ele%tri% RC tru%( or %ar and they lo2ebeing totally in %ontrol o1 a 1ully 1un%tional s%ale model that is ust+aiting 1or your ne4t %ommand.

    To enoy this hobby5 it is important to (no+ the 2arious type o1 optionsa2ailable to pursue your hobby. The most popular type o1 R6C %ar isthe 11'Road Buggy. %ars usually ha2e lo+er ground %learan%es5 sli%(s tires5 aerodynami%bodies5 and are %apable o1 a bit higher speeds.

    RC Cars use t+o di11erent (inds o1 energy sour%es to ma(e them go .The sour%e %an be either ele%tri% or 1uel. Cars that run on batterypa%(s are ele%tri% %ars. They use a re%hargeable #iCad battery pa%( 1orpo+er. They %an run up to ,/ minutes and %an be re%harged in about," minutes. #itro %ars are a%tually po+ered by a small engine thatburns a spe%ial glo+ 1uel. Some %an rea%h speeds o1 o2er "/ mph.

You %an %hoose to ma(e your o+n %ar or to buy one that is ready 1or

= lot o1 dirt gets a%%umulated under the %hassis and the most to geta11e%ted are the s%re+ heads. To get %lean and spar(ling s%re+ headsunder the %hassis5 spray denatured al%ohol on s%re+ heads and thenpi%( the dirt +ith the help o1 paper %lip. It is an e11e%ti2e +ay to %leanyour s%re+ heads that are pa%(ed +ith dirt enough so that your he4dri2er %an ha2e enough meat to grab on. It is re%ommended to usedenatured al%ohol as it seems to +or( better than the simple green ormotor %leaner.

Compressed air also +or(s better 1or %leaning a1ter a good day o1ra%ing. But an old so%( al+ays does the tri%( to %lean your %arspar(ling and shining. To goose the runtime o1 a remote %ontrol %ar a simple tri%( is to%harge the battery pa%( multiple times. I1 you put your remote %ontrol%ar on %harging and ta(e o11 the plug t+o' three times then it mightgi2e you a longer run time be%ause the battery gets %harged all o2eragain. But doing it too may times might pro2e lethal to battery li1e.

Greasing the bearings in RC Cars

Some o1 the models use propelling (ind o1 gears that loo( 1lashy andgi2es the loo( o1 a spa%eship or may be a heli%opter. 9ell this all has%ome into play 1or the reason that these days the udges in the %arra%ing e2ents ha2e started loo(ing 1or ingenuity and %reati2ity o1designs that not only ma(es the models loo( li(e state'o1'art ma%hinesbut designs also add to the speed and enhan%es motor per1orman%es.

Most ne+ bearings seem to ha2e a minimum o1 grease and 2ery lightduty grease as +ell. It should be noted that the bearing manu1a%turersha2e no idea +here that bearing +ill end up5 %onseAuently lo+2is%osity grease is used. These 7sto%(7 greases are 7gone7 in someinstan%es or in a matter o1 minutes o1 running. In other areas they arediluted easily +ith 1uel residues and also %leaning 1luids.

    Greases %ome +ith di11erent (ind o1 bases. Some use Eithium base+hile others are =luminum o4ide based grease5 Te1lon grease orSili%on Grease. Maintenance Of Engines

The ele%tri% engines do not ta(e mu%h as mu%h to maintain as%ompared to a #itro. Ta(ing a %loser loo(5 ele%tri% ones are moresimpli1ied. They are easier to start. They are sa1e to set up. More o2erthey ust need %harging o1 batteries and one is ready to hit the tra%(s+ith them.

n the other hand5 #itro engines are little more sophisti%atedma%hines. They need to be pampered and %aoled and to be ta(en %areo1 be1ore and a1ter hitting the tra%(s. The engine reAuires a lot o1initial brea('in time5 tuning and adustments. But surprisingly5 manyRC Car hobbiest pre1er the gas models. They enoy spending time +iththeir engines and tending to them. They lo2e the time and e4perien%eo1 brea(ing in a ne+ engine5 tuning it to their personal pre1eren%es andgetting the most out o1 their engine. This does not ma(e a #itro enginea green monster 1or a ne+bie be%ause a #itro engine has manyad2antages that 1ar out+eigh the maintenan%e and operation %osts.

    =lthough the personal tou%h e4perien%e is missing +ith the ele%tri%ones +hi%h are good 1or the ones +ho +ant to ma(e straight head+ayto the tra%(s and pursue it as a part time hobby.
