VOL XXIX ISSUE 1 JAN 2015 - ROGUE AREA SENIOR COMPUTER ASSISTANCE LEAGUE NEWSLETTER

Change in Newsletter Format
Ron Willing ~ Editor
Nearly every day I receive several broadcasts from the various expert organiza-
tions, including PC Magazine, PCWorld, eWeek, Channel Insider, friends and
others. Many of these have a number of articles in them. Therefore, I see about
a hundred or so articles each month on a wide range of topics. These have been
the source for the four or five articles I have included in previous newsletters.
Sometimes it has been difficult fitting the original content into the NL, requir-
ing me to shrink images, use a smaller font or limit some of it. There were also
questions if the article was of interest to all readers, because of the wide range
of user skills, interest, and needs of our club members.
The new approach is for me to select a couple of dozen articles for you to chose
from. I will supply the article title and a link to it so you can see the complete
original content in its original form. Many of these will also have links to addi-
tional information and videos on the subject matter and non-related sites.
This new format will allow me to inform you of more new information on prod-
uct releases, reviews, business trends, political activity effecting computing and
other miscellaneous topics and share its location of so you can go directly to the
source at your leisure. It will also eliminate the overload of information that
may not be of interest to all and reduce the NL size when I create the PDF that
is uploaded to the RASCAL website.
I still do not intend to include special interest topics, such as, building your own
computer, gaming, etc. These are too specialized and those interested can do
web searches to get the latest information and find a wide range of locations to
chose from for the in-depth information they are looking for.
There were many Black Friday deals in the broadcasts, but because of the delay
between the creation and delivery of the NL, it was not reasonable to include
these time-sensitive ones in the NL. Remember these broadcasts I receive are
free but they may be overwhelming for many. Happy browsing!
