Join us for a journey through Tuscany

literally get to see it through the eyes of a

local, our good friend and guide, Chef

Frederico Ivankovich. Chef Frederico

was born and raised in Tuscany and calls

the beautiful City of Florence home. He

will be leading us on an insider’s view of

this spectacular regione of Italy.

Tuscany has a timeless familiarity with its

iconic Florentine cathedral dome, gently

rolling hills dipped in soft morning mist

and sculptural cypress alleys. But then,

this regione in central Italy is postcard

material. Golden wheat fields, silver olive

groves and pea-green vineyards marching

in sharp terraced rows on hillsides form a

graceful prelude to soul-soaring medieval

hilltop villages.

No land is more caught up with the fruits

of its fertile earth that Tuscany, a

gourmet destination whose residents

spend an inordinate amount of time

thinking about, discussing and consuming

food and wine. Local, seasonal and

sustainable is the Holy Trinity and

Tuscans share enormous pride in the

quality of their produce.

Tuscan Travel is grassroots: to wineries

to taste a little Classico, to a family run

pastificio tradizionale where artisan pasta

is cut by hand; and road trips in quest of

the best bistecca all florentina (chargrilled

T- bone steak). Buon appetito!

Ever since the Etruscans dropped by to

party and stayed, Tuscany has seduced.

The Romans stocked their grain silos

here, Christians walked stages of a

medieval pilgrimage route, and Napolean

plundered art (and suffered terribly in

exile in a beautiful neoclassical villa with

fig trees and a seas view on the

paradisiacal island of Elba).

Florence’s historic churches and

monuments were a key stop for British

aristocrats on 19th century Grand Tours –

and remain so. And at sundown when the

River Arno turns pink, whether you like

things old-fashioned and simple or

boutique chic, this handsome city will

oblige

Then there’s the art. And, oh, what art!

The Etruscans indulged their fondness for

a classy and-off with exquisite funerary

objects, and the Romans, always partial

to puffing up their own importance, left

their usual legacy of monumental

sculptures.

But it was during the medieval and

Renaissance periods that Tuscany really

struck gold, with painters, sculpture and

architects creating world class

masterpieces. Squirrelled away and

safeguarded today in churches, museums

and galleries all over the region. Art is

Tuscany is truly unmatched.

Our Journey will begin at one of the most

famous sites in all of Tuscany, a

particular leaning tower and the glorious

Domo and Cathedral that it is attached to.

We will spend a few hours after deplaning

in Pisa. Not a bad way to start your

Tuscan adventure.

Then on to Fiezole where we shall spend

our first 3 nights. This glorious Roman

town is nestled into the hills above

Florence.

We will have 2 full days to explore both

Fiezole and Florence, with our wonderful

guide, Chef Fred. Wander down the hill

and enter the Capital of The Renaissance

and revel in the architecture and art of

this majestic city.

We have arranged for all our guests to get

the Firenze pass which will give all

entrance to every gallery, museum and

architectural gem in the City. This pass

also covers all public transportation.

The Second part of our journey takes us

to one of Graeme’s favorite parts of this

spectacular Regione, San Gimignano.

Here we will be staying a working

vineyard, winery and olive grove, where

will be able to explore southern Tuscany

and all the delights it has to offer. Our

home for the next 3 nights is renowned

for their incredible cuisine. And did I

mention they have a swimming pool

nestled amongst the vineyards.

We have organized a wonderful wine

experience at Guardastelle San

Gimignano for our first afternoon in our

new residence.

We will also have chance to visit the

glorious village of San Gimignano.

Explore beautiful Siena.

And take in the breath taking vistas that

will surround us

Our Final 3 nights we will dine out on the

extreme beauty of the most famous wine

producing areas of Tuscany, Chianti.

Once again, we will be staying in a

working winery and olive grove with good

friends of our host Chef Frederico.

Perhaps we can persuade him to cook us

something special.

We have organized a wine tour of Chianti

regione for all our guests that will include

4 wonderful boutique wineries, a Tuscan

lunch and all the incredible vistas.

We will get chance to visit Greve and

other Villages of Chianti.

And sample some of the regione’s

wonderful gastronomical delights.
