Get demographics for IEEE Xplore downloads.
This is something Kathy and her group will tackle shortly as part of our increased marketing/outreach plans.
Publicize the impact ranking (EIC message, etc?).
We just received a draft press release of CS magazine impact factors; Kathy’s first thoughts on the magazine’s excellent increase are, Is PVC filling a niche that no one
else is filling? Is PVC the go-to mag and all the researchers get it and cite it? We want to find out why it’s so high in relation to its sub numbers.
Look into selling hardcopies to institutional subscriber employees at
marginal cost plus a small markup.
Will most likely be part of our new marketing efforts going forward.
Leverage blogs to promote PVC. Will most likely part of our new marketing efforts and proposed improvements to CN.
Do S&P-style promotional efforts (sub price, conferences).
Will definitely be part of our new marketing efforts (Kathy’s the person who does S&P promotions, so it’s a good fit!).
Ask companies to sponsor individual issues
Could be part of our new marketing efforts.
Review list of conferences we send mags to (ensure that all proposed
are actually covered).
This is something Kathy just proposed as a first plan of action in getting started with her new team and increasing awareness. She wants to ask the board to send a list
of all conferences they attend, help chair, or speak at—anything they consider worthy.
Satya will write a charter for advisory board and sent for EB approval.
DONE
Staff to look into e-subscription access to PVC.
This is most likely going to be part of our digital editions research (some mags just completed a pilot e-sub program).
Steve to submit request for “reassignment” function in MC
Not necessary – just invite more reviewers. Reviewer reserve list is also coming this year.
