PRE CANA DAY
Saturday, March 14th, 2020
Engaged couples, do you still need to schedule your Pre Cana retreat day? Join us here at St. Charles Borromeo on Saturday, March 14th. Please stop by the parish office to pick up a regis-tration form. Further information about Pre Cana can be found on the form.
ATTENTION
ALL LITURGICAL MINISTERS: Sign-Up sheets are in your respective sign-in locations for the February 26th Ash Wednesday Masses. You can also volunteer online at www.rotundasoftware.com/ministry/CharlesBorromeo.
Copies of the March-April Liturgical Ministry Schedule are available at the sign-in locations and in the parish office.
St. Charles Borromeo Church February 16, 2020
This Monday, February 17, is Presidents’ Day and a national holiday. As they have for many years, our Ladies Guild will offer a Day of Recollection. Our own Father Lou Thomas will lead the day’s activities. Come to the Lower Parish Hall for a
continental breakfast, served from 9:00 until 10:00am. The day concludes with Benediction in church at 2:30pm. Lunch is available for $2.00 or you may bring a brown bag meal. There is no school on Monday, so the entire Charles Avenue parking lot will be available. See you at the Day of Recollection! You will find in this bulletin an overview of the many special activities and offerings St Charles Parish has prepared for Lent 2020. Our Forty Day Journey to Holy Week and Easter will not begin for another ten days (Ash Wednesday this year is February 26). Please keep the enclosed schedule in your home during Lent and plan to take advantage of one or more of our Lenten programs. Particularly, I call to your attention our Monday evening Soup Nights, Mass, and Sacraments that will focus on the Lenten themes of Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving. And don’t forget our Annual Parish Retreat with Father Ryan Mann, Sunday to Tuesday, March 1, 2, 3. Over the years, St Charles Parish has been blessed with many vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and vowed religious life. Currently, our parish has two fine men studying for the priesthood: Ian Kelly is in his third year of theology studies and completing his internship year at St Sebastian Parish in Akron. Ian anticipates priestly ordination in 2022. Jeff Liptak is in his first year of theology studies and looking forward to priestly ordination in 2024. Jeff and his classmates received the Ministry of Acolyte last Friday. It was one of Bishop Perez’s last official acts as Bishop of Cleveland. Congratulations, Jeff! The “lights are on” at St Charles from 6:00am until 11:00pm most days of the week. I am always gratified to see so many good things happening around St Charles. But there is always “room for one more” ministry. Some weeks back,, Judy Gaughan and Mary Marunowski spoke with me about establish-ing a “Prayer Shawl Ministry” to benefit our aged, ill, and homebound. This would involve working with a fleece material (provided) and cutting a fringe. If you can help, or would just like to learn more, please stop at the Prayer Shawl Meeting scheduled for this Wednesday, February 19, at 7:30pm in the Borromeo Room, first floor, of the Parish Activities Center. Check the article, in this bulletin, for additional information. Father Chris and his Committee offer the next installment in their Post-Cana Series. Couples are invited to hear Jim and Cheryl Smith present “Opposites Attract: Honoring Differences in Your Marriage” scheduled for this Friday February 21, from 6:30 till 8:30pm in the Lower Parish Hall. Bring a finger food to share; baby-sitting provided. This is especially directed to young couples, but all couples are welcome. Lots of young folks “made it official” and became engaged over the holidays and I have been busy scheduling weddings during the last few weeks. If you are planning marriage in 2020, be sure to register for our next St Charles Pre-Cana Day, scheduled for Saturday March 14. Stop by the Parish Office for a Pre-Cana Day registration form.

Experience Church History from a Catholic Perspective!
Epic: A Journey through Church History is a captivating and fast-paced look at the story of the Catholic Church. Beginning with the lives of the apostles all the way up to the present day, Epic takes the immense history of the Church and simplifies it into twelve, color-coded time periods. Learn about the major people, places, and events that comprise the captivating story of Christianity. This Study provides participants with an under-standing of Church history that enables them to have a greater sense of meaning and identity as Catholics.
Along with Fr. Carlin, join us for the Epic: A Journey through Church History, Semester Two. Even if you did not attend the First Semester, you are welcome to attend the Second. Each lesson is self-contained and does not depend on what went before. To register for the study, stop in the Parish Office or call (440)884-3030.
