Happy New Year and Welcome to 2017 at Quilters’ Corner. There are many new and exciting

things happening this year at the Corner. As usual, we have fabric, coming in every day. The office is

stacked with boxes of new and fabulous textiles. Just recently, we received Edyta Sitar’s new lines.

“Silver Linings” and “Pumpkin Pie”. Silver Linings fabrics are a fresh bouquet of colors which range

from bachelor button blue, primrose reds to sunflower yellows. The Pumpkin Pie collection has a fabu-

lous signature print reminiscent of early century Chinese chintz. The soft colonial blues ,reds and pinks,

mixed with dramatic blacks, create a fabulous palette. Also included are multiple cut goods, including

layer cakes, charms and mini’s, plus bundles of eighths and fats, and a great Dresden plate kit.

Center. Two retreats are four days, January 6-9 and February 3-6; the third is a five day retreat, Septem-

ber 18th through 22nd. Elaine is doing her ever popular Tahoe retreat as well, June 11th- 16th. As of this

writing, there are a few spots left in all four. These are the perfect occasions to take your friends and

hang out and sew uninterrupted in a tranquil setting. The Mercy Center is set in an idyllic spot, tucked

away in Auburn, just a few minutes’ drive from Sacramento. The Tahoe Retreat is set on the shores of

beautiful Lake Tahoe which can be viewed from our sewing room, inspiring.

We feel lucky to have some wonderful new teachers to add to our existing talented instructors. . .

Beauty. We have a returning teacher, Victoria Norman, who will be teaching a Jelly Roll class on

Wednesdays in January. Diana Tatro is teaching the ever popular Tuffet class again in January . In

March, Anelie Beldon is back again to teach from her Dresden Plate book and Sharon Alves will be

doing a beading on fabric class . Every Tuesday is set aside for a sit and sew, as well as the 3rd Satur-

days of each month and the last Sunday. If you need some social interaction and some marathon hours

of sewing, this is a great time to work and play. In addition, to our many existing quilting groups and

Societies, which presently include Redwork, Thimble Ladies, 1800’s and Handwork Society, we have

added a new group, the “Downunder Wanabes”. They will be working out of Kathy Dougherty’s books,

“Making Quilts” and “Mixing Quilt Elements”. They are doing exciting projects that will razzle and

dazzle the most outrageous fabric palette.

and check out the classes.
