Donations for needymothers and their newborns are compiled in a largelayette basket, which is given to the new mothersbefore they leave the hospital. The nurses at thehospital determine the recipients of the baskets.Usually 50 baskets are given out each year here inCedar City.

In a recent by-law update, we changed the membership renewal month from January to March.

• This distributes the work load for the Treasurer and Membership Chair so they’re not inundated through the holiday season.

• Your $25 annual membership dues will be accepted at the January, February, or March General Meetings.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR QUILTING FRIENDS by Kristine Barsky

LIZ JACOMB was born and raised in Cedar City. When she was 13 herfamily moved to Las Vegas. She and her husband Jeff moved back toCedar City 22 years ago. They have 3 children and 3 grandsons. Liz startedmaking clothes when she was young, but didn’t start quilting until 13years ago. It was her mother, Susan Goodman (who is also a guildmember), who introduced her to quilting. Liz joined the guild 12 yearsago. She held the office of president for 2 years, and vice-president for 3years. She’s been on the Retreat Committee for 10 years in variouscapacities including retreat chairman for 2 years and co-chair for 2 years.Liz likes traditional quilts and feathered quilting on her quilts. She hastaught classes locally and at the Blackfoot retreat in Idaho.

JERI COULSTON moved from Las Vegas to Cedar City 3-1/2 years ago. Shejoined the CCQG when she arrived. Jeri is single and has five children andone grandchild. She was a civilian investigator for the Las Vegas PoliceDepartment for 35 years until she retired in 2015. Jeri has been quiltingfor 7 years and applique is her favorite. She became the guild’sHumanitarian Chair in March 2017. She is also the receiving managerwhere she volunteers at the Treasures Thrift Shop. Jeri believes “thatvolunteering for an organization that fulfills your passion is important andhighly fulfilling.”

has led two BOM projects this year. The BOM for 2019 will be led by the newly elected 1st Vice President when she takes office in March.
