2.1 KSU Installation

2.1.1 Unpacking Open the box and verify that the items shown in Figure 2.1 are included:

1. Open the Cord cover and turn the screws counter-clockwise to loosen as shown in Figure 2.2.

2. Lift the front cover in the direction of the arrow as shown.

2.1.2.2 Closing the Front Cover

1. Insert the front cover into the slot on the KSU.

2. Then put the front cover down on the KSU in the direction of the arrow.

3. Turn the screws clockwise to tighten and close the Cord Cover.

2.1.3 Frame Ground Connection It is very important that the frame of the ARIA SOHO System is grounded:

1. Turn the grounding screw counter clockwise to loosen, as shown in Figure 2.3.

2. Insert the grounding wire and tighten the screw.

3. Then connect the grounding wire to an appropriate ground source (refer to Caution).

For ground wire, green-and-yellow insulation is required and the cross-sectional area of the conductor must be more than UL 1015 AWG#18 (1.0mm)). It is recommended that the ground wire is shorter than 1m (3.28ft). We do not provide the ground wire.

2.1.4 External Backup Battery Installation In case of power failure, the external backup batteries automatically maintain uninterrupted power for the ARIA SOHO System. The external batteries must provide 24V DC; this is generally accomplished by connecting two 12V batteries in a series arrangement as shown:

It is recommended to use an external backup battery fuse (5A @250V) between the battery and the System.

Recommended battery capacity is 24V/10AH MF; the ARIA SOHO System should be able to operate more than 3 hours with batteries that are in good condition.

Carefully check the battery polarity with cable colors (Red and Blue) when connecting the battery to the System.

2.1.5 KSU Mounting

1. Install 3 anchor plugs in the wall using the mounting template included for accurate placement (Figure 2.5).

2. Insert the 3 included screws to 3 anchor plugs.

3. Hook the KSU onto the screws, making sure that the System slides down securely (Figure 2.6).

2.2 Board installation To install the Board, perform the following Steps:

1. Before inserting the Board, remove the dummy slot as shown in #1 of Figure 2.9. 2. Holding the board as shown in #2 of the diagram, carefully insert the Board in the direction of the

arrow so that the Board securely engages with the connector (CN2) on the main board (#3).

Power must be turned OFF before board installation. Insert boards carefully to avoid bending connector pins (male pins on MBU) and board damage from

power shortage caused by misaligning.

2.3 MBU (Main Board Unit) The Main Board Unit (MBU) controls communication between the peripheral interfaces, supervises all resources in the system, controls the gain adjustment of the PCM signal, generates the System tones, and manages System call processing.

The MBU is installed in the KSU and provides various kinds of connectors RJ11 modular jacks for the connection of peripheral boards and miscellaneous functions (refer to Figure and Table).

Before programming the System, switch 1-4 should be ON and then power cycle OFF and ON to initialize the default System database. Once the database has been initialized, switch 1-4 should be placed in the OFF position to protect the database. After putting the SW2 lithium battery switch ON to protect the RAM/RTC data, install the option boards to the MBU. NOTE

The SW2-DIP switch should be turned ON to protect the System database in case of power failure. As needed, replace the batteries with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer; the

System will not function normally if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Be sure to dispose of used batteries according to manufacturer instructions and/or local government

regulations. The 4th pole of SW1 should be OFF to protect the features being programmed in Admin programming after

the System power up and initialization.

2.4 Installation of the CO Line & Extension Board

2.4.1 CHB308 (3 CO Line and 8 Hybrid Interface Board) [not available in AR-CKSU] The CHB308 can be installed on the CHB308/CSB316/SLIB8 (CN2) connector of the MBU, and provides 3 CO/PBX Loop Start CO Line interfaces that support Pulse/DTMF signaling. Each interface contains ring and loop current circuits, A/D and D/A conversions, and pulse signaling circuitry.

The CMU50PR provides 3 Call Metering Detection for 50Hz and provides 3 channels of Polarity Reversal detection for call metering. It can be installed on the MBU, CHB308, or CSB316. 2.4.2.3 Add-On Board SLU8 (8SLT Interface Unit)

The SLU8 provides 8 SLT interfaces and can be installed on only the CSB316. It can be installed on CSB316 only as a default when shipped.

2.4.3 SLIB8 (8 SLT Interface Board) [not available in AR-CKSU] The SLIB8 can be installed on the CHB308/CSB316/SLIB8(CN2) connector of the MBU, and provides 8 possible SLT interfaces. It can generate FSK signals for outgoing Caller ID; DTMF signals for outgoing Caller ID.

2.5 Other Board Installation

2.5.1 VMIU / AAFU (Voice Mail Interface Unit /Auto Attendant Function Unit) The Voice Mail Interface Unit (VMIU) can be installed on the VMIU/AAFU connector (CN5) of the MBU, and provides the capability for System announcements, ACD/UCD announcements, and User Greetings.

2.5.2 LANU (LAN Interface Unit) LAN Interface Unit (LANU) should be installed on the LANU connector (CN3) of the MBU and provides 1 LAN port of 10 Base-T networking. RJ45 Modular Jack, MJ1 is used to interface with a Wide Area Network (WAN) or PC. Two LEDs are provided to indicate the operational state of the LAN port.

2.5.3 MODU (Modem Function Unit) MODU should be installed on the MODU connectors (CN4) of the MBU, and provides an analog modem connection. It supports Bell, ITU-T, V.34, V.32BIS, V.90 Protocol at a speed rate of 300bps up to 33Kbps, and automatic rate negotiation.

2.5.4 DPU2 (Two Door Phone Unit) The Two Door Phone Unit (DPU2) should be installed on the DPU2 connector (CN13) of the MBU, and provides two Door Phone interfaces and two Relay contacts for door opener.

2.6.3 Connecting Additional Terminals The MBU provides connections for one external music source, one external page port, one relay contact, and an alarm detection input monitor through the PJ1 (RED, External MOH) and PJ2 (BLUE, External Page) audio jack and a MJ3 (RJ11 Modular Jack).

The MBU accommodates one external music port through a PJ1 (RED) audio jack. 2.6.3.2 Relay Contacts

The MBU provide 1 relay contact that is used for loud bell or general purpose through pin No. 4-5 of MJ3. 2.6.3.3 External Paging Port wiring

The MBU supports one external paging port through a PJ2 (BLUE) audio jack. 2.6.3.4 Alarm Detection Wiring

The MBU provides an external alarm detection input, which can be used to transmit notification to extensions when the external switch is closed or opened (programmable through Admin Programming). This alarm detection input is provided through Pin No. 2-3 of MJ3.

3.1 Before Starting the ARIA SOHO System In preparation for programming, perform the following Steps:

1. The DIP switch (SW2) should be turned ON prior to installing the MBU to protect the System data in case of power failure.

2. Check the DIP switch (SW1) of the MBU to All ON.

3. Plug the AC power cord into the ARIA SOHO System and AC outlet.

4. Program the Nation Code (PGM100) as applicable.

5. Reset the ARIA SOHO System.

6. Set the 4th pole (SW1) of the MBU OFF when the System operates normally, to protect programmed features after System power-up and initialization.

3.2 Basic Programming

The ARIA SOHO System can be programmed to meet an individual customer’s needs. There are two ways to perform Admin Programming:

PC Admin – Refer to PC Admin Programming Manual DKT – In this manual, DKT (Station 100) Admin Programming is detailed.

3.2.1 DKT Admin Programming All programming is done at Station 100 (Station Port #00) using the LDP-7224D Digital Key Telephone).

Additional programming stations may be assigned (113 - FLEX1), but only DKT can be active in the programming mode at any one time.

When in programming mode, Station 100does not operate as a normal telephone, but instead works as a programming instrument with all of the buttons redefined. The keys of the dial pad are used to enter the various data fields to enter numerical information:

Flexible Buttons – The 24 buttons located at the right side of the phone are used to indicate a specific data field and to enter information.

Speed Button and * Key – Are sometimes used to delete data, or to indicate the end of data input.

Redial Button – Could be used to delete one digit or character from the end of entered data or characters.

3.2.2 How to enter the Admin Programming Mode To enter Admin programming mode, perform the following Steps:

1. Lift the Handset. OR

1. Press the [MON] button on the Admin Station (By default, station 100).

2. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button and dial * # (a confirmation tone should be heard).

3. Enter the Admin password if the password has been set; a confirmation tone should be heard indicating that the Station is in Admin Programming mode.

4. Each program is accessed by pressing the [TRANS/PGM] button, the following should display:

To accept changes while programming, perform the following Steps:

1. Press the [HOLD/SAVE] button when all changes have been entered to store the data permanently.

2. A confirmation tone should be heard when pressing the [HOLD/SAVE] button if all data was entered correctly. If there were any errors in the entering of data, an error tone will be presented and data will not be stored in the permanent memory.

3.2.2.2 How to reset the System

To reset the System, perform the following:

1. Enter [PGM] +450 then [FLEX] +15 and press the [HOLD/SAVE] button.

3.2.3.2 Board Assignment (PGM101)

It is used to assign the Board Type of installed Boards.

If the pole 4 of dip switch SW1 on MBU is ON position, Board assignment is automatically set when system is power up. But in normal case, the dip 4 is set to OFF position to protect database of ARIA SOHO system.

In this case, the board assignment should be programmed to add new board in ARIA SOHO system.

And the logical assignment should be programmed to provide logical device number of installed board in PGM 103.

At Admin programming mode,

When board is added or changed to new board with different ports, logical device number of following board is changed. In this case related CO line or Station program should be checked and changed according to the new logical device number.

For example) If CHB308 on Slot2 is changed to CSB316, the starting logical device number of slot 3, 4, 10 is increased as 8 ports.

In this case, station program with previous logical is not available for renewed logical station number by incremented device number. 3.2.3.3 Logical Slot Assignment (PGM103)

It is used to assign the logical order of installed Station Boards or CO Boards. With the pole 4 of dip switch SW1 on MBU is ON position, slot logical order is automatically registered by slot number order for each Station Boards & COL Boards. 3.3 How to get incoming Call

3.3.1 Ring Assignment to Station Each station can be programmed to receive an incoming call alert signal when the system detects an incoming call on specified CO lines. Separate ring assignments are made for Day, Night and Weekend Ring operation mode. In addition, signal can be delayed by 1 to 9 ring cycles allowing a secondary answering position. By default, every CO Line ring is assigned to ring attendant station (by default, station 101). So ring assignment program could be changed for user requirement.

A CO call from CO line can be program to ring at any station.

For example) To make Station 100 ~ 101 to ring when the incoming call from CO Line 1~3, and Stati9 seconds. At Admin programming mode,

To remove assigned ring assignment to Station 101 when the incoming call from CO Line 1~3. At Admin programming mode, 1. Press [TRANS/PGM] and dial 144. 2. 3.3.2 DISA(Direct Inward System Access) This feature allows CO incoming calls to access to specific destination without attendant’s answering. When incoming CO call comes in CO line programmed for DISA, system will answer and gives VMIB announcement or dial tone. Then the caller can dial additional digits to access desired destination. For example) To use CO Line 03-04 as DISA line for Day At Admin programming mode,

1. Press [TRAN/PGM] button and dial 140. 2. Enter the CO Line range (0304 for CO Line 03-04). 3. Press [FLEX 2] + DISA Type ( FLEX1 for the example, FLEX 1: DAY, FLEX2: Night, FLEX3: Weekend,

FLEX4: On Demand) 4. Press [FLEX 1] + ‘1’ (1: DISA SVC ON, 0: DISA SVC OFF) 5. Press [HOLD/SAVE] to save DISA line assignment(Now DISA mode was programmed)

To program VMIB Greeting,

1. Press [FLEX 2] and dial VMIB Greeting number (Dial 01, If VMIB Greeting is recorded in System Greeting 01)

3.3.3 VMIU Recording for DISA VMIU announcement for DISA can be recorded at attendant station. To record VMIU announcement, VMIU board should be installed and VMIU Access attribute for attendant station should be enabled. At default, attendant station is station 101 and its VMIU Access attribute is enabled. To record system announcements (greetings) from Attendant:1. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button and dial 0 6 (Not Admin programming mode). 2. Dial the message number( 001 for System greeting 001, Range for system greeting : 001 ~ 070)

Then you will hear the announcement “Press the # key to record.” If there is already a recorded message in the number dialed, a corresponding message will be played.

3. Dial # to start recording. Start the recording after hearing the announcement “Record your message” and hearing the confirmation tone. (Voice via attendant station’s handset is recorded.)

4. Or, dial * to record using an external music port on the MBU. Then music from external music port is heard to attendant station’s handset. And dial # to start recording. (Voice from external music port is recorded.)

5. Press the [HOLD/SAVE] button to finish recording. Then confirmation tone is heard and you can record the next one.

6. Or, pressing the [MON] button while recording, then the recording is stopped and the recorded message is saved.

3.3.4 Attendant Assignment As default, station 101 is assigned as the system main attendant, and other attendants are not assigned. In ARIA SOHO system, up to 5 Attendant can be programmed.

Some features are possible at Attendant station.

3.4 How to access outgoing Call Each station can access based on particular CO Lines or CO Groups as default. Station users may use Flexible buttons which are assigned as CO button.

According to the Numbering Plan(PGM107), station users can access individual CO Lines by dialing CO Access Codes.

3.5 Call Transfer

An Intercom Call or CO Call can be transferred to other station or CO Line during conversation. There are 2 kinds of call transfer ; Screened Transfer and Unscreened Transfer.

Feature Transferring method

Screened Transfer (With Announcement)

Transfer is completed after announcing the destination party.

Unscreened Transfer (Without Announcement)

Transfer is completed without an announcement. After dialing the destination, while hearing a ring back tone, the originator can replace the handset.

* If Trans is made while transmitting dial through CO Line, Dial can’t be transmitted

To make an unscreened transfer,

1. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button. 2. Intercom dial tone is heard and the previous call is placed on exclusive hold. 3. Dial the station number to receive the transfer. 4. Replace the handset or go on-hook.

To make a screened transfer,

1. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button. 2. Intercom dial tone is heard and the previous call is placed on exclusive hold. 3. Dial the station number to receive the transfer. 4. When the station answers, announce transfer. 5. Replace the handset or go on-hook.

To make an unscreened transfer by SLT

1. Press and release the hook-switch and intercom dial tone is heard. 2. The CO Line is placed on exclusive hold. 3. Dial the station number to be transferred. 4. Replace the handset and go on-hook.

To make a screened transfer by SLT

1. Press and release the hook-switch and intercom dial tone is heard. 2. The CO Line is placed on exclusive hold. 3. Dial the station number to be transferred. 4. When the station answers, announce transfer. 5. Replace the handset and go on-hook.

3.6 Pickup (Direct/Group)

A station user can answer other station’s call. In intercom Calls, incoming CO Calls, recalling CO Calls and transferred CO Calls can be picked up instead of the ringing station.

3.6.1 Direct Pickup A station can pick up a call ringing other station by dialing the direct call pick up code and the ringing station number

For example, To answer a call ringing at another station (STA 101), 1. Lift the handset or press the [MON] button. 2. Dial Direct Call Pick-up code 7, Or,

Press programmed FLEX button for Direct Pick-up. 3. Dial 101- the intercom number of the ringing station.

To assign DIRECT CALL PICK-UP button at a flexible button, [TRAN/PGM] + FLEX button + ‘7’ + [HOLD/SAVE]

3.6.2 Group Pickup A station can pick up a call ringing at other station in the same pick-up group. Ringing intercom calls, incoming CO Lines, recalling CO Lines and transferred CO Lines can be answered by a station instead of the ringing station if the stations belong to the same pick-up group.
