Question 1 – conventions

To keep the poster conventional I have added a billing block, studio logos and a release date. I have also made the colour scheme quite dark by using dark colours such as red, black and grey and this makes is conventional as dark colours are usually used to suit the dark theme. The image I have used is also conventional as well as I have used a dark character as well as blurring his face to keep his identity more of mystery. To make the poster more conventional I also added the actor’s names under the title.

When comparing my poster with an actual poster there are some similarities. For instance there is the billing block and the studio logos at the bottom of the poster, as well as having a piece of text at the top as some sort of slogan. The images as well are similar, my magazine has the main antagonist reaching out towards you, whereas the actual poster just has the antagonist standing menacingly. Both posters also have the release date somewhere at the bottom on the poster. However there are some differences between them, such as the backgrounds, my poster in a plain background where as the real poster has a foggy woods background.

Both posters also have the main protagonist in the centre, standing and looking forward menacingly.

Both posters have a catchy slogan placed at the top.

To keep the magazine conventional I have added pull quotes on the side of the cover, with related movie articles that would be in the magazine. I haver also added a barcode at the bottom of the cover so that its conventional and looks like an actual magazine. There is also the big eye catching masthead located at the top of the cover, with the movie title located at the bottom of the page.

There are a lot of obvious similarities between my magazine and an actual magazine. For example one would be the big masthead at the top of the cover, that’s eye catching and interesting. There are the pull quotes at the side that show featuring articles inside the magazine. And of course there is the main movie title at the bottom of the page, with a big image of the of a main character in the centre
